About the Frodo and Sam being roommates debate. Why does them being very close make them gay? They basically were on the verge of witnessing the end of the world together. Straight men can have soft relationships with other straight men! Btw this comment isn't me saying "why does everything have to be gay these days" but if we want to challenge toxic masculinity we need to accept straight men can be soft as well.

When it's always defined this way, men will be far more hesitant to be open with both their male and female friends for fear of that openness being misinterpreted as romantic interest.
