Can't tell how many times I've driven this stretch either way, going as far back as 1972. Never a dull moment by day, and an easy passage by night. Excellent labelling of mountains and main features - thanks. Very good side trips to the west of 285 to Weston Pass and up Four Mile Road to Leavick and the Hilltop Mine for those with a little more time south of Fairplay. Keep of the good work and posting. And - Antero Junction or Bust!
Love that you're on the beaten path once again in Colorado. You really get to see the state in a way that you won't if you're only driving on the Interstate.
Ohhhh... this is so beautiful. One of my favorite drives in all of Colorado. It's been several years since I was out here, but you're making me want to head out west to the high country again. Roll on springtime!
I've driven 285 between Denver and Fairplay but never went further. Thanks for a trip in some of the country I have not seen in Colorado yet. Inspiration for future drives in the state in the years to come as I go out there once a year.
I drove Rt 285 from Littleton to Mt Princeton. Amazing resort there. Buena Vista is an awesome place. Then drove Rt 24 to C Springs. Still can't believe I was actually there. All the mountains are breath taking. Was there beginning of June and mountains still had no on them.
At 1:57 there’s an abandoned bridge below the current alignment. I’ve traced it northeastwards from here but haven’t seen any remnant from here back towards BV. Only thing it’s used for now is conduit for phone lines. Also, if anyone continues past Fairplay on SH 9, the next town you hit is Alma. Follow the speed limit! Those cops are jerks since there’s nothing else for them to do.
That picnic area right before you get to Johnson Village is pretty near and relaxful. I stopped there while I was on my way to Independence Pass. Grilling while being able to see the Collegiate Peaks, so amazing.
What a beautiful drive on such a beautiful clear day. Ive driven the stretch between Fairplay and Breckenridge those mountains get even more spectacular the closer you get to them. Keep up the good work. Do you have any videos of driving through the Million Dollar Highway between Ouray and Silverton?
Thank you! That US-550 Million Dollar Highway is pretty high on my bucket list. I want to experience it in person. It's just kinda out of the way but its worth the excursion from the pictures and videos I've seen of the road.
Nothing stirs my soul more than approaching distant mountains. This was one of my personal favorites of yours!
Thank you Carl! I think you’ll like next weeks release as well! Stay tuned 😎
Colorado is gorgeous
My favorite state!

I wish more people would showcase Colorado that's not I-70 because there is so much more to Colorado than I-70... as great as it is.
I love this drive! I have driven 285 several times to and from Buena Vista and never tire of the scenery.
Beautiful country.
It really is!

Another fine ride with beautiful views, Kyle.
Thank you very much!
Thank you Paul! Glad you liked it!
Good ol' Gunsmoke. Spent many a night there back in those old truckin' days. The restaurant there USED to be really good, but I hear, not so much now.

That sounds like an amazing and very relaxing time.
I've been in 285 many times great stretch of highway between Buena Vista and Fairplay.
I agree. Very pleasant drive!
I always wanted to take some of the dirt roads to the on the sides of the highway on the west side of the pass, but never did.
