Can we just show some appreciation for Selema Masekela as well and what he's done not just for snowboarding but for the whole of action sports for the best part of 30 years. We need to start referring to him as the Godfather of action sports

Black snowboarder from NC here… Zeb is enabling a whole new culture of snowboarding. My roommate from Mexico who had never seen snow until this year has fallen in love with the sport…now I can’t keep him off the mountain lol. Of course I showed him a few clips of Zeb and he now claims Zeb to be his favorite rider. Such a dope feeling knowing one of the best in the world looks and comes from the same place as you. Pray for the homie as I’m taking him to Vail in March 🤣

I am white, european and 30.
I consider Zeb one of the guys to make me follow pro snowboarding on a different level again:
I fell in love with the sport when every trick seemed insane but reachable: "I can do a 360, it's just a couple more spins"
...Now it's off the knuckle corking insanity.
Zeb still does that insanity but on a level that makes me question physics and realise:
It's all about the fun.
He gives me the vibe:
If i have fun caving and hitting side hits I feels like i am doing the same thing he (pro snowboarding) does with a little more regard to the laws of physiks and a little less skill.
He's just great for the sport in general!

I started snowboarding a few years ago on a burton board. Being a black snowboarder I didn't have any inspo but I loved Shaun White he really pushed me to get into it because I wanted to be like him. Now seeing Zeb and Shaun is retired it only makes me wanna push myself more and one day hopefully I get to shred with both. KEEP GOING ZEB!! THE COMMUNITY IS ALWAYS WITH YOU!

Man I was just fortunate enough to meet Zeb this passed weekend at the Meka Rail Jam in Denver and he is such an authentic, inspiring dude. I got to take a selfie with him and he's such a down to Earth athlete. Would love to run into him again on a mountain! I've always been interested in snowboarding but Zeb really inspired me to take the leap.
Sounds like the host wants to focus on race but zeb is just chillen. I think we all know that doesn't matter. If anything it's more about class and your geographical location than what you look like. Zeb's def a huge inspo for me and doing things I didn't think were possible.

Super excited for the new wave of diversity thats going to come from Zeb, the mountains are an amazing place that so many people are missing out on
I think the key of his style is he blends some of street dance moves into the snowboarding, these moves could be unnecessary for the tricks, which cause him nearly to fall, but he can always corrects his core balance before the fall, which makes so unique. When people see that moves, wow that is so cool.
I love watching the OG’s do their thing. Learn so much just sitting back and watching the work 🤟🏼

Hey Selema I watched your Burton video with Zeb Powell and I wanted to say y’all are doing great things ima African American snowboarder and I wanna go pro but I live in Texas so my chances aren’t so high but I wanna show the world no matter where your from you can do it I’ve been snowboarding for 3 years and prob get like 3 days a year depending on our budget but I love it and wanna show the world

Been watching him since that first x games and it never really occured to me that he is one of the only dark skinned people at that level. It's weird but it also makes a lot of sense. In this sport and culture we were and are all just having fun no one paid attention to the identity politic bs. Like Zeb said sometimes it tskes winning a gold and having people tell you "hey you are a black dude doing this thats awesome" to even realize it!
Zeb can only compete at knucklehuck, he doesn't do big air, slope style or half pipe. He would do a rail jam.
