    As an Early Years Educator, this has shot up to one of my top 5 try guys videos, without a doubt. Forest school is so important, I can't emphasize enough how richly children learn in outdoor environments; why teach a child to count by singing a song about ducks, when you could simply take them outside and count the actual ducks? Learning should be child-led, learning should follow childrens' interests. I'm so glad the guys had fun!

    As a teacher at a Montessori preschool… I absolutely LOVE this! Thank you for shining a light on this program! I love that even if you’re right in the middle of LA, you still have the opportunity to be immersed in nature! But it breaks my heart that the cost is so high and this opportunity is only available for families with the financial means. Go out and donate, people!! 💖

    He's also fluent in English and Spanish. Such a cool kid.

    As a fan and an early childhood educator at a school with an amazing outdoor area, I love that you went to forest preschool! Thanks for giving air time and respect both to early childhood educators, young children, and the idea of children having amazing school experiences. Teachers of young children are so very important and they are not valued by society or paid anywhere near what they deserve for doing this important work. It's so wonderful to see you shining a spotlight on an amazing preschool. Thank you!! And I hope you had fun!

    Gosh I want a club/class/program like this in my area. Growing up I used to get discouraged from being outside because often my bullies were outside during recess. I went from spending time outside running, climbing, and playing soccer, to working as hard as I could to earn lunch with my teacher every week (we had a reward system with different prizes and currency, like being able to skip a pop quiz, choose our partners on a group project, etc in exchange for participating in class and scoring well) and I’d work my butt off to be able to have one day every week where I could avoid being outside. Damn, this video made me want to be outside more

    One, I'm high functioning autistic (Ik some fellow autistic folk dislike that term but it's how I self identify!) and have bad sensory issues and I feel like this school was practically made for autistic kids. Legit think that a lot of autistic kids would flourish here and probably pick up skills way faster/at a similar rate to NT kids and be far better prepared for NT centric education.
    Two, I'm SHOCKED at how good at communicating these kids are. The older kids in the group were discussing topics and saying things I never would have expected little kids to talk about, and they were correctly identifying nature by complex shapes/colors/smells/feels etc, which just... impresses the heck outta me. I feel like at this age level where classic by the book education is less necessary, schools like this are PERFECT for fasttracking toddlers and little kids and teaching them real life skills and how to interact with the world around them. Would be really nice to see elementary schools adopt a blend between this and traditional education for even their older students because oh man I feel like the kids in this video are far more mature and experienced in life than many sheltered little kids are, but without sacrificing their youth for it.

    Jonny Cakes in this video "Are there any single dads?... You know how much it sucks having to pay for your kids birthday cakes, well I wouldn't charge!"
    In the telephone in challenge video: "My kids will get 0 effort from me on their cakes! They won't be able to afford me!"

    4:33 wow, you would be so different if you lived in Norway, all kindergartens are more outside than inside in Norway. And we go on/went on a week long trip in the mountains several times even in the winter, and we’re out in the forest all the time. We did the same at school, had full days in the forest and winter trips to mountains where we HAD to ski. We also use sharp knives in kindergarten

  • @hecatesmagic5542
    @hecatesmagic5542 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is genuinely so wonderful! I would have loved this as a kid! Heck, my favorite things as a child this age was playing in mud, water, grass, etc. I was considered a tomboy because I played hard and didn't care if I got messy. I would come home with my pockets stuffed to the brim with all the rocks I found, and my bag would be filled of sand, leaves, sticks, and drawings.
    As the staff kept mentioning, in this stage of development, sensory play is so important because it's a child's primary way of learning. So to have the guidance from adults monitoring their safety while they are given that space to explore is just amazing

It’s awesome to see that there’s a fund of sorts to reach out to underrepresented students esp in urban areas like LA where there’s a lack of access to these awesome spaces :)
