No, Algodoo is a version for phun made for education that runs on the Classmate PC. So it will always cost money. But, there will soon be a new version of phun: phun beta 5. And that will be very similar to Algodoo and probably have most of its features.
there's a new free version of phun. It's called Algodoo Phun Edition; It has most of the features that algodoo has!
I cant wait for the next version of phun, I hope it has the new features that Algodoo has!
And thanks for making Phun free to the general public and maintaining the Phun web site and the Phun box!

I totally agree, but we made the video for the BETT show and for that it didn't need audio.
We first had the video on our website, but it generated 130Gb of downloads in no time, so we simply had to move it to TH-cam, even though it really lacks the music!

Well, we made Phun too and Algodoo is indeed based on the same code base.
We are happy too see that our users defend Phun, but you don't need to defend Phun from ourselves :-)
There are things here and there that have been added. Along with lasers and grids, there's also plot graphs, force arrows, a camera (still needs to be finished), bug fixes, better acting water, scripting within the lasers, better texture tools, and others I may have not listed here.
wow at first i was like, hey that's just like phun. But then they amazed me with some outstanding features like closed circles with a space inside, bitmap importing AND interaction and the laser thing.
Well, phun is like a demo of algadoo now, for instance in the phun menu it says buy algadoo, and it even has "algadoo" in the header.
algodoo added in some fun things. + New, more user-friendly interface.
I was thinking the same thing. Especially at the end with the "Dark Side Prism" scene (awesome name).

Phun (err.. Algodoo) appears to be taking a huge step forward. I am really excited about the light ray simulation, how cool is that. BTW... Notice a the top of thew program it says Algodoo beta 4.94 and beta 4.97. It IS Phun (I hope).
there is no 4.94 it was a video from the developers
the actual version is 5.28 for phun and 1.60 for algodoo

Double Comment. I was thinking, programs like this may be an integral part of educational curriculums in the future. It is so much easier to demonstrate a concept with a program like this than it is to try an explain it through words and drawing boards. I believe Algoryx may have made a very good investment in aquiring Emil and Phun.
He didn't, this is kind've an expansion type thing developed by different people. Phun is still phun. Speaking of phun, Phun beta 5 is launched tomorrow! YAY!
When will it come out? Its 4th May already, they said it was going to come out on april...
In this video it runs on windows, but the product will run on most platforms, e.g. Win, Linux, OS X.

I live in the city next to the one where they made this. Had that university as my second choice (though I got in on my first).
if we make the same rocket algoryx did and we replace the water to orange/red/or cyan water it will be better!

Emil.. Why'd you rename Phun?
It's too bad none of you knew about the 83% off discount for people who register, it's too late now but people who have played Phun for a long time and had contributions such as cool scenes and other things, can still save money.
You would have had to pay 5 euros or intstead of $41, you had to pay $7.
If you complained even about that discount, either it's impossible to pay where you live or you are not commited to it.

The intel classmate pc is just a normal pc like every other.
i would even buy it if it was 50-60, its totally worth it
they didn't it works on all pcs like fun its an advert for the laptop really as the company that bought fun made that laptop the only thing you wont be able to do on usual PC's is the touch screen other than that it'll work for all comps like phun no worries
