@@zeldsfan Some people have successfully reached out to companies and developers over this. I'd say you should try the same for games you'd like to see or get! It's a really backwards solution to pull the games out, but the content survey doesn't take much time and it's something developers can fix in just a few minutes.
Thats wrong, it makes sense, you heard why in the vid. Just make an age rating for your game :D Why would you not wanna know if a game is suited for little 12 yo Timmy?
@@DucklingNM Even more of a call to action, then! The main reason I addressed it like that, is that Germany did pass a new age protection law specifically. I didn't know other countries did the same.
In order age rating to work, they need Identification. If no identification then, kids just change the age in profile. Its not that hard. The problem with identification, in complicates things. Also people with pro-privacy (also the same person that post ass pic on social media) will adamantly oppose this. I have no problem showing my ID for age regulation...
so gooner games - big pass on steam no matter age - you can't even filter theme out like newgrounds did games for all ages or even indies - lets shadow ban theme and pretend they don't exist we only care about the AAA slob money anyway
Well of course there's a reason behind this change, I didn't criticize the ruling in itself! Steam as a platform is for people of the ages of 13 or older, based on their ToS. That aside, there are parenting options that can be set up. The appeal here is for developers to take their time to add said ratings, so that their games can remain accessible and reach the right age groups!
That's a strawman. The games are not available for purchase at all. This video is to inform devs to slap the appropriate age ratings on their products so they can resume selling them.
Yeah, totally. That application to change your wallpaper (that you have to add yourself) or upscales your games must totally be kept out the hands of 12 year olds
because 10yos are going to access said content anyway unless their parents supervises them. besides, it makes little sense that violence is rated 16 but titties are not allowed without age verification
why in the name of fuck they didn't just set everything without a rating to adults only is beyond me
They pulled Lobotomy Corporation and many other games due to the lack of an age rating for Germany.
Makes zero sense

I managed to change my store to Austria a while back, using both VPN and TOR.
Still glad I did so
It's not just a Germany problem, it's a world wide problem

Not just for games. All applications on Steam too. Which is by far the dumbest thing I've ever seen in any country do :/
Yes, I moved to Germany recently. I checked my Steam, and my wishlist is mostly greyed out.
