I've just noticed the caption regarding the maidservant who hoaxed the town into believing she had given birth to rabbits!!

I moved there in 1963, aged 3 months and left for London (and then the US) in 1983. My mother was the mayor in the mid 90s. It will always be my old home town where nothing ever seems to change!

You say filmed on a 'Quiet Sunday morning' ... I think NOT. As you approach 'The Jack Phillips' a Stagecoach bus on route 46 passes you - it doesn't run on Sundays and further down there are people waiting for a bus, again hardly any buses on a Sunday. Just past the bus stop the post Office is open, again doesn't on a Sunday!

Ah, someone who reads the description! :) We love helpful and thoughtful comments like these. No doubt you're right, we were there a couple of days and it's easy to forget whether it was the Saturday or the Sunday a particular bit of footage was filmed. Thank you @devongeneral6359 - feel free to correct us anytime 👍

    Yes, yes, yes!
Love it, love it, love it!
    But, where is everyone?
    Hardly any people.
    Exceedingly clean and tidy.
The extreme closeness of the buildings to the street and very, very narrow sidewalks remind me of Japan.
    Thank you!!!! Excellent.

Hello Steven, a pleasure to hear from you. How interesting to see similarities to Japan in the narrow streets, I can see where you're coming from with that. Being a Sunday afternoon it was quieter than usual and the shops were closed being a Sunday too? Where are you from BTW? Greetings from a chilly UK.

@@LivingWalks I'm in the mountains of North Georgia, USA, in a little town of 3k folks.

Hiya Steven, ah interesting to hear that. It's the thing we enjoy most about YT, the connecting with folk such as yourself from far and wide. Oh I didn't know that about Madeira but I'm not surprised. I hope you get to visit for real someday. We'll be back again next Friday BTW, so plenty more of the Island to bring to you if you fancy adding a few more meanders to your growing list!! All the best to you pal.

What a nice town. Wow! Poor rabbits. I like towns that are primarily for walking. Not too many parked cars. Our downtown area is bumper to bumper parked cars with a lot of traffic. Thank you for the tour.

This is a very pleasant city! There are quite wide sidewalks here, but, unfortunately, even in spite of the rain, the streets are crowded with people... It was pleasant to hear birdsong, but the noise of the city crowd drowned out their beautiful singing... Where the birds themselves were, remained a mystery to me. But the fact that they sang perfectly that day is true! 🦜😀👍 Perhaps it would be nice to walk through the streets of this city in the early morning, say at 6 o'clock. However, even at 6 o'clock in the morning, restless citizens are probably scurrying through the streets of this city...

Walked them streets today! The church close by have the hanging post! Where they used to hang crimals on the hill.....it has the marks of the rope where they hung to death!! Very interesting place indeed. I have a book on historic murders in godalming! I can walk the streets and no exactly where they took place! It's fascinating knowing the present occupants probably have no idea......
