- The BBC quiz show "Only Connect", hosted by Victoria Coren Mitchell. In this thirteenth and final episode of the series, the Relatives and the Europhiles play for the grandest treasure of them all, the Only Connect series trophy.

I think hamish would have preferred to be in a team on his own without the other two to slow him down.
I'm very pleased the winning team won! It's clear they could hardly believe it!
Those connecting walls were pretty despicable!
15:50 - I am sure Penn and Teller would be flattered to hear the team captain here think this picture was of them. She was pointed right and told it wasn't them.
That certainly was a beautiful pair of final walls, except for some blemishes.
Its very obvious each team was strong and weak at a different round. Relatives struggled at Sequences but did well for Connections and The Wall, while Europhiles caught up in Sequences and with Mark carrying, blazed far ahead with Missing Vowels. Well done for that clutch victory!!
Didn't expect them to hammer out the etas anagrams
I am pleased for the Eurpohiles. They were a modest team and the Captain had to carry them but they were nice.
Nah, can't stand them
and I didn't really like the other team. Hamish was so bossy with his wife.
They seemed to work together as a team, more than the others.
No real stand out teams this series, especially when compared to earlier series' absolute geniuses. Not that I could have done as well as any of them, but I've come to expect a bit more out of the teams on this show.

at the end Victoria said that they are moving to BBC2, do you know when that is and when the new series starts?

It always amazes me how a simple google search could save people from looking ignorant.
i went ahead and googled it. it appears to be an uncommon spelling among english speakers, but britannica does indicate it is sometimes spelled ghi. what a dastardly clue!

I would suggest the question writers brush up on their spelling if they are going to rely on it for their clues.

The Howard's End connection must have felt humiliating to both teams.
Anybody know why they mpved from BBC 4 to BBC 2?
Two reasons, first the show was a huge hit for BBC 4 and the BBC 2 management felt it would sit perfectly alongside University Challenge on their schedules, creating a "quizzing hour" each week. Second, BBC 4 was about to be hit with massive budget cuts (it has gotten even worse for BBC 4 since then sadly) and so new programming was being transferred to BBC 2, leaving BBC 4 as a mix of BBC archive and small new content. Today BBC 4 has no new content and is all archive usually.
Hamish is incredibly rude. Stop answering for the captain & talking over her. Horrible.
This happens a lot on Only Connect. If you go back to Series 4 you will see it very evident from episode 1, where one main acted the same as Hamish. Have you seen it? I think he was a member of the Epicureans team in Series 4, and he was a show off ass.
She takes no authority
How about instead of focusing on that we realize that the team leader is way too demure for that role. She often just sit there like a deer in the headlights.

After three torturous rounds, missing vowels is excellent for cooling down. Still, can't imagine the results of this final being very popular.
Points in the final round should be halved
Why?
It accounted for 30% of the points. That seems reasonable. (The 3rd round accounted for 35%.)
Changing its weighting could have made no difference at all!

Victoria did emphasise Citrus fruits - because the team hadn’t actually said citrus that is why she was emphasising she would accept their answer.

Agreed - both teams had passengers. I can't help but think that most (if not all) of the teams in these more recent series would be obliterated by the likes of the Crossworders, Epicureans and Gamblers...

I wonder why the Relatives made that poor woman captain if they won't respect and acknowledge her slow reaction time. Didn't they notice that before? I really don't like this fake positive discrimination stuff.
Through out the entire series Nick Latham basically just showed up for the taping. He didn’t answer anything.
Watch again and check your findings before you make such a sweeping (and false) generalisation.
That's totally false! He was a consistently impressive player.
