I have a friend's silver teapot that the handle had broken off. I tried using my acetylene torch for heat but the end of the handle began to melt. I did flux it so I was able to get the handle tacked to the pot. Would this indicate that the handle may be pewter with silver plate? Also, I thought about using a rosebud tip but, I don't want to destroy the insulator. Do you think spot welding would work better? I'm into it so far and doing it as a favor. But don't want to mess up the handle any worse. I lost about a 16th to an 8th of handle, but think filler will work to replace that loss. The method u used of spot soldering looked interesting. Thanks
