Keenan has got to be one of the nicest and most likable personalities in the jiujitsu world. Edit: 😂 🤣👌 at the americas ass and trying to fix his pants to maintain his dignity.
Great content, Keenan is just so damn talented. It's almost like he's giving away his secrets in the video but is too confident in his skills to worry about it since he's always developing new techniques.
I was dabbling in lapel stuff without really seeing Keenan work but man seeing just the setup into the lapel guards he does really has helped me change up my game to be much more controlling instead of initiating scrambles. You’ve changed my little purple belt life. Going to have to watch everything now. Already bought my hyperfly gi
After a few years of practicing and about 25 years of watching, I though I understood jiu-jitsu pretty well. Your commentary proves that I only noticed about a quarter of the things you pointed out. I don't know whether to thank you or wallow in the despair of my ignorance!
The value level of watching two world level guys compete went from a 5 to a 10 when you broke it down and put logic behind the moves! That stuff isn't discernible to the average mortal at full speed, but when it's a play by play it's jiu jujitsu gold!!!!
Great video great insights! made me laugh imagining Nicholas saying '' lets fight, let's fight'!'' in the begining. You guys having debates makes me imagine how it is when you actually roll !
This was a really cool breakdown! I'm honestly surprised tho that keenan hadn't seen that back attack before? That was just the normal crab ride attack everyone does from the stack, Thaliosn does it all the time and levi hit something similar at pans 2018
🤣🤣🤣 So many people, even those within the bjj community, don't know wtf you're talking about. They may understand on a viewing level but there's no way this, incredibly inciteful video, will translate to most practitioners but I hope everyone that watches this video reaches this level of understanding the art. This is incredibly advanced insight into one of the single MOST intricate games of human chess in the whole universe. Let's all learn as much as we can from this right now and revisit this video every year to see how much more knowledge we can apply to our game.
so on the back of that mic, there's a cool little switch that will bring the high end up and add clarity. also back up. and if it's too quiet, get a cloudlifter, the SM7B really needs it.
@@portofly94 i had to read your whole comment, it was the only way to know what it said. nobody wants your audio advice, it isn't advice, it's boring. let me throw some unsolicited audio advice shite back to you so you see how wank it is. that boost switch is clearly on already. the mic's might need a preamp if they were quiet but they aren't quiet at all in this video. you gave perfect solutions to problems that don't exist here.
@Keenan, that was a great match but you have to keep the haters off of your podcast. It was annoying to listen to the troll behind you steady throwing negative comments your way.
I'm not really familiar with the points system in these tournaments. Anyone mind explaining how Keanan got the 2 points? It seems like he didn't do anything the whole fight except defend, get a penalty and the other guy to 9 advantages?
Around four minutes into their match, Meregali is standing up and Keenan has reverse de la worm guard. For whatever reason Meregali doesn't like this, so he gives up the position by sitting down and putting his back to the mat. Keenan comes up into top position. This counts as a sweep for Keenan and he gets two points for it (even though Meregali did it willingly).
@@Pskinn advantages are less valuable than points. Only Points make you win the match. IF you and your opponent have the same point score, then advantages are taken in consideration and who has the most advantages wins. If you and your opponent have the same number of advantages the match goes to referee's decision. You can get advantages when you get in some slightly more dominant positions like when you flat your opponent's back from top half guard, when you attack threatening submissions that they manage to defend ( if the submission is not considered threatening enough you don't get an advantage), or when you almost get to a dominant position or guard pass but for less than 3 seconds. If you don't secure the pass or the position for 3 seconds or more, they don't give you points but just an advantage. In the match meregalli never secured any position that's why he has just advantages, while Keenan swept him and secured top position granting him 2 points for the sweep Oss!
Honestly, I don't like these anti-anti game related fights that you stand there holding up for 10 minutes to keep the two points I Nicolas always goes to finalize, the Goat Roger Gracie other old scchools went to finalize not for points the game was more dynamic more beautiful to see than the two wrestlers however I don't like these types of game strategies in Jiujitsu.
I'm a three stripe white belt, I have no idea wtf you're doing or saying but I still find it entertaining
lol
As me
I don't even have a white belt and I find it entertaining
😅
2 weeks into grappling and I feel the same - I wish this was more common!!
Watching Keanan compete feels like playing mariokart using a code for unlimited bananas to make your opponents slip and lose.
More of these please! Excellent insights into the high-level aspects of the game.

Great match and commentary. Thank you for sharing, gentlemen.
Nicholas Meregali is the future of the sport. So young, relatively new at black belt and fighting with such tenacity.

Just goes to remind one that there are so many options in the hierarchical web of moves its easy to get tunnel vision. The game never stops!
when i listen to him break down BJJ, i realize there isnt enough years for me on this planet to ever get even close.

thanks for the breakdown

Skinner those are points, advantages and penalties
Adam Pena so what are advantages? I’ve never heard of that. Not familiar with the penalties either

This is nice. Thanks Keenan my bro!
*Keenan ''LAPEL'' Cornelius*
wow great analysis!! keep it up!
Awesome content!
This is why I hate this point system, someone had 8 submissions attempts and lost, the winner did only a sweep
Pensei que fosse a luta na íntegra.... locoooooooo pra ver ......
Sweet video! Thank you. Word.
So who won? I don't understand the scoring system. Tks.
I think I get it but want details and I guess it only works with no hooks?
Keenan is the guy that made me realize that I need to quit bjj. He's a prodigy!
No Name hmm.
Bro you shouldve used that to better yourself, not quit!

Flubber was also a great Disney movie!
Would love it if you were able to comment on a video without the other guy
kinda sad that 50% of a submission grappling match remaining = don't attempt to submit
Nossa nenhum BR, fico ate constrangido!
Rafael De Souza nao fica nao velho
Tudo Gringo
Thanks keenan wormnelius
They should ditch this boring points fight thing, remove the time limit and let the fight finish only by submission.
Please show noodle escape!!!!!!!!!!

Solid ass guard
"He's going on pure will." I think he's fueled by rage 😂
Dude your homie has GOT to stop talking about balls
Who is the winner??
So pretty much you’re a dragger (boring) and he’s a finisher.
He always cheats with short pants.
*mindblown*
Esse cara que foi finalizado pelo Rafael Mendes em 1 m ? muito fraco.
The fact the ref didn't stop so you can pull your pants up is beyond me. I cannot stand people who try and show the audience my ass in competition.
