Never heard these before, what a treat. Some very beautiful music indeed and as always you make it all seem so effortless though I know only too well that it isn't. Great performances.
Amazing project and brilliant results. These studies are a real test and you pull them off with great musicality and technical mastery. Hats off to you :-)
Agreed. I have heard great players mess up Etude 1 so much so that it doesn't sound like music at all. What an introduction...my first listen to David Jags. So good.
That’s excellent ! Not so easy to play even it’s etude. Played also the Guiliani one’s but prefer the Regondi. Thank’s a lot for sharing that performance with us Master and i love seeing you on your YT channel.
@@davidjaggs yes I went through the score and my fingers hurt. Doesn't happen very often. It is very difficult and hard but very beautiful. Something like an unreachable love.. Deep respect for how you play this piece!
I might be crazy, but I keep hearing hints of brazilian guitar in Regondi. I suspect it's the harmonic and rythmic richness of these works playing tricks on my ear.
@@davidjaggs There's every chance he did! I can't stop listening to this video, sir. Regondi just shot up to my top 10. Incredible how I never heard of him back in music school.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who hears this! For instance #2 has rhythms you’d hear in something like Pernambuco. Also, Regondi uses a lot of 9ths and 13ths.
How beautiful! Thank you for this videos and for bringing life to this forgotten music! I will study these some day, for now they seem too advanced for me!
@@mikehoehn1475 Possibly. Mine is 4.5mm on bass E and between 3.5 and 3.75 on treble E. It depends on your playing too. If you play hard, loud rest strokes it could be too low, but if you're a light player you might get away with it. You can always have a couple of bridges made. Hope it turns out well! I think this is discussed in one of my videos here; th-cam.com/video/143PUhyh-NM/w-d-xo.html
Please try to present both hands. Unless one knows for sure what is of utmost importance when it comes to guitar playing, presenting just one hand is rather uninformative. This is to say that the player and the microphone are great but the image should improve if the aim is to cater for guitar players and students.
Mr Jaggs offers some detailed tutorials for sale at his website. Though only two are presently available for these etudes, I have purchased his video tutorials in the past and will say they are superb.
Really!?! You can play these too!?! lol Jeez THESE etudes ARE DIFFICULT!!! I might as well give up i guess.... I was just practicing and thinking about how my daughter scarcely supported whatever work I’ve tried to do in music after she started a bunch of meth headed vullshit and ruined my mothers weekend with the grand’s.... then I realized my parents don’t even care to get on TH-cam.... they never really supported it either... why am I even here!?! I can’t watch this right now.... sorry.....
I've been studying guitar for more than 45 years and never heard of Regondi. Thanks a lot! Wonderfully played!

Thanks Edward. Some of these are among the most challenging pieces I've played.
The Bel Canto was on point, wonderful recording thank you so much. These studies at the highest level of technique and musical.

Thanks Denian. I won't pretend I found it easy, but I enjoyed learning them! Something easier next I think!

@@davidjaggs you're welcome...i mean that sincerely....it sounds Chopinesque when played as you did. Beautiful
Thank you for these superb recordings. Excellent reference for all guitarists. Bravo!
Thanks for watching Dan. Another big series coming soon!
Lots of hard work gone into this. Great compilation. 👏

Really fantastic and inspiring! Going to study 2 and 6. Will take some time though...
Be warned... 2 is very hard! Hope you enjoy them. Thanks for watching.
@@davidjaggs yes I went through the score and my fingers hurt. Doesn't happen very often. It is very difficult and hard but very beautiful. Something like an unreachable love.. Deep respect for how you play this piece!
I know how that feels! The hard thing is to try to keep the melody legato.

Who knows?! Maybe villa Lobos knew these?

You are one heck of a guitar player
Thanks Mike. Don't think that this was easy for me though, it took months to complete!!!!
Dear Maestro J. You've been in hiding. I am so happy I found you. Thank you.
I'm still here! Thanks for watching 👍
Very good!
Thanks Alberto.
How beautiful! Thank you for this videos and for bringing life to this forgotten music! I will study these some day, for now they seem too advanced for me!
Thanks for watching Marcos. They are difficult. The easiest are 1..8 and 9.
@@davidjaggs yes, I can tell. Im planning to take them just as exercises and hopefully be able to play them even if really slow
Bravo!!! ^^
Exquisite.
Thanks Matt
Fantastic job! Any thoughts on taking on the 25 Coste studies? (Op 38)
Oh yes! Edson Lopes has done a great job on those. I'm halfway through the next project already. ..surprise!
Super Top
Thanks for watching Franky.
Magnifico
Thanks 👍
Lovely playing sir! What make of guitar are you playing? It has a lovely warm sound.
Thanks. It's a 2009 Jean Noel Rohe.
David, what is your action set at the 12 fret ?
High e or low e?
@@davidjaggs both please, I gotta know for myself. I'm having a guitar made for me and I'm old. I'm thinking 3.5 mm. On the bass side. To low maybe ?

Where can we get the sheet music for the 10 etudes?
Try Amazon or the major classical guitar centres. There are a couple online for free, no.4 I think. Thanks for watching 👍
@@davidjaggsa delicatessen in all senses, you’re an excellent player, the master anyone hope to have … any version with the fingering??
Thanks so much. I'm only aware of the Ophee edition.
@@davidjaggs thank you! It’s the same I have, it’s my goal now to review and play these studies, thank you for your magnificent interpretation!
Thanks. They're incredibly difficult, but the most beautiful, 1 and 8 are the easiest.
