Key words are "last *known* location" ... making this a marketing gimmick at best. Basically, The only conceivable way a reliable theft recovery system could be constructed that aligns with what is being portrayed here is if the item has GPS and is always online. This is totally doable with phones, but not as much with Lenovo's PC offerings. It's not as if every Lenovo PC has GPS receivers that allows it to pinpoint it's location. Furthermore, it's not likely that, even given a GPS receiver, it would then be able to phone home to report it's location whenever it wishes. Best you can do with any PC is hope a thief gets into it enough to get online, then login somewhere with your accounts from a known physical location. All of which is arguably worse than the loss of a $1000+ laptop. So, Lenovo... I think I'll keep my money, thanks.
Lenovo Smart Lock does not appear at the APP Store...It has one that says "Lenovo Smart Clock" but that one only brings up google and other services...What gives?...
Absolutely WORTHLESS support staff at Absolute/Smart Lock. We are trying to get the software reactivated after a system board replacement and have been waiting for their staff to simply re-enable our device on their server. April will be 1 year of 4 with the system and it hasn't worked since end of August. Part of that is a busy college student but since Christmas... and even with the pressure turned up in the last week, its ALL THEM! Failure. Do not recommend. Great idea crappy support staff. If I can't get them to reactive something I've already paid for, I can only image if I needed them to recover or pay for the lost laptop!
