To anyone who wonders - this is all I have of this race (sadly). Any other race which was on television can be readily seen on here with a quick search. The 1987 WTCC was badly covered even on satellite, and I would have grabbed anything possible. I have never seen comprehensive footage available in any format over the intervening years. The only film was a 30 minute programme released by Texaco Eggenberger Ford as 'Winning Star'. And since it is awash with 1987 music the recording industry would have it torn down within minutes..... Someone at Eggenberger or Ford must have a large stash of unused race footage lying around!
which means that it would be very likely that the BBC could not afford to send a OB to the TT in the 1980s and what make that a shame is that the 1982/86 period of the ETCC did not get not very much TV coverage in the UK despite British cars winning in the form of Rovers and Jaguars
To the best of my knowledge, the BBC did not show any substantial footage of any of the earlier Group A Silverstone TT races. If they did show the races, I don't have them on tape.
I was at this race. My brother and I cycled there! Great era of touring car racing, Group A cars were fantastic.

It's weird to see Andy Rouse in a red Sierra.
Mercedes 190E 2.3 in it's first years in DTM was pretty much if not exactly Group A-spec, wasn't it?

1:06 What a magnificent field of cars. Shame only about three of them were eligible for championship points, eh
and these races were the only time we got to see the Mercedes 190E 2.3 in Group A form and also the Volvo 240T on British circuits
The RS500 would have been a real handful to drive in those wet conditions!
Graham Clayton : See Bathurst 1992.
