MAKALU BASE CAMP TREK ITINERARY | 20 DAYS
Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu transfer to the Hotel.
Day 2: Trekking preparation and permit paperwork day.
Day 3: Fly to Tumlingtar (400m), 35 to 40 minutes flight & drive to Num 47.7 Km (1,500m) -3 to 4 hours via Khadbari
Day 4: Trek Num to Seduwa (1,493m) -4 to 5 hours
Day 5: Trek Seduwa to Tashi Gaun (2,200m) - 3 ½ to 4 hours
Day 6: Trek Tashi Gaun to Kauma/Khongma Danda (3,500m) - 5 to 6 hours
Day 7: Trek Khongma Danda to Mumbuk /Nambuk (3,400m) -5 to 6 hours
Day 8: Trek Mumbuk to Yangla/Yangri Kharka (3,557m) following the Barun River upstream - 5 to 6 hours
Day 9: Trek Yangla Kharka to Langmale Kharka (4,410m) - 5 to 6 hours
Day 10: Trek Langmale Kharka to Sherson (4,630m) -3 to 4 hours
Day 11: Trek Sherson Makalu Base Camp (4,870m) - 3 to 4 hours
Day 12: Free day for an excursion around Makalu Base Camp Visit Japanese camp, and French Camp.
Day 13: Trek Sherson to Yangri/Yangla Kharka (3,645m) - 4 to 5 hours
Day 14: Trek Yangri Kharka to Mumbuk (3,400m) -5 to 6 hours
Day 15: Trek Mumbuk to Kahuma Danda (3,500m) -4 to 5 hours
Day 16: Trek Kahuma Danda to Narbugaun (1,310m) via Tashi Gaun (2,100m) - 5 to 6 hours
Day 17: Trek Narbugaun to Num (1,560m) via Seduwa (1,500m) - 5 to 6 hours
Day 18: Drive Num to Tumlingtar (400m) - 3 to 4 hours via Chichila (1,800m) & Khadbari
Day 19: Fly Back from Tumlingtar to Kathmandu -35 to 40 minutes
Day 20: Your own destination.

Yes! it is possible to hike just yourself with out Guide and porter to the Makalu Base camp. However, for your safety, I would to suggest hire at list a porter or a Guide, which is about 23 to 30 USD per day...

According to Rule, it is not possible trek with out Guide and porter, however it is not the rule is not well implemented. the rule is not well implemented
You can trek with just yourself also in the Makalu Base camp Trek.
For you safety concern, I would like to suggest you take a guide or porter at list. They have well knowledge about the trek and following days weather circumstances.
