Hey all, just wanted to say the yellow cap is actually a valve that can be twisted to let the oil out. It also has a cap that can be taken off to attach a tube, that can run off into an oil pan. Much less mess this way.

Indeed! Saves a lot of mess doing it this way-mine was unfortunately stuck😕. Thanks for the tip!

I can't believe the mower was so dirty, but I guess the mess at every step justifies it. 😞

Yeah and if it gets loose all your oil leaks . Dumb design 😊

Great video bud. Thanks. I have the same mower and still can't understand why they designed it to drain like this. They should have at least cut out the metal in that area.

The yellow release valve should not be unscrewed. It should be twisted to point oil away from the motor. They provide a tube to attach to this that allows you to direct the drainage through the drain hole.

You should wait until you run the engine before you check the oil level with the dipstick? This is because the oil filter has no oil in it until after you run the engine. With oil filling up the filter there will be less oil level on the dipstick.

The engine has been discontinued, but parts catalogs and info should still be available- www.kawasakienginestore.com/kawasaki-fh661v-cs05-s
