"Don't care what you say 'cause I'm goin' away to stay, Gonna make you pay for that great big hole in my heart..." Freak Out, Man! When a Bass Player & a Drummer are like two peas in a pod, in the zone together like Bonzo & Jonesy here, amazingness follows. Jonesy elected not to take a position as Kapellmeister for Westminster Cathedral, choosing instead to stay on with Pagey & form up the greatest rock-n-roll band of all times. But that said, this right here demonstrates a small taste of just how wicked beautiful his capacity for more serious music is, & I dare say - A favorite I still enjoy listening to, even after all these years.
I agree with you bmr622. Classic, Classic....I saw them live in 1972 perform this. What can I say, I feel fortunate to have lived in that time era of great music. Some good music today, but nothing like what memories this music brings. And oh yea, I am a woman!
I've always loved LZ. Their songs always seemed to tie themselves to significant events through out my life.. This particular song sparks the vivid memories of the first nights I spent dating my now husband.. We were teenagers that fell in love in the fall after a long summer of being friends. I had just ended a very abusive relationship that lasted 4 years. I came out a PTSD ridden young teen mom with literal scars of her past.. I never thought I'd find the one. Not with all the problems I had.. well I was wrong. He had this CD & this song played one night as he took me home, driving the empty late night road.. as the light of the full October moon poured down upon us & the wooded hills of many trees that surrounded us. The smell of autumn night air & my Burberry perfume .. & the fragrance of distant bonfires lingering.. This October we celebrated our 11th year anniversary. This song always brings back those memories of fall 2010. I come back to listen to it every year when the leaves change .
I grew up listening to the mighty Zep. Still the greatest band of all time in my book! They were years ahead of their time, no one comes close, hands down.
Thank God for John Paul Jones! Underrated bassist AND keyboardist. The quiet man in the group between Jimmy's guitar showmanship, Robert's lyrics and vocal melodramatics, and Bonzo's (RIP) flamboyant drumming. But JPJ held the band together!
Well they really never split up. They felt there was no going on without John Bonham. About the 80's, I grew up in the 80's and having Zeppelin in my life was just plain AWESOME.
1976-camped out at the ticket window-28 degrees, sleeping bags, across from the Greyhound station and "Fine Arts" theater (Porn,),,,,,,3 bottles of MD 20/20 and the Smith sisters to stay warm,,,,,Cop would come by and kick us every 2 hours-"You still alive in there?",,,,Come on 10 AM !,,,,,,gotta get those Zeppelin tickets!>>>>>>>>Memories say it was WORTH IT! PS-about 10 years ago my son bought a replica Zep t-shirt. I pulled out my original, same pattern as his, that I bought at this concert. Wish it still fit!
I think we've all retreated to Zeppelin after a woman deserts us. This kind of music just seems to touch your sould is such a perfect way. I listened to "D'yer Mak'er" one day after my girl left me. It went deep into me, but it's like intoxication of the soul.
That was me at 14 finding Zeppelin II, just the record, no jacket, amongst my moms records and listening on my grandmother's badass built in 60's hifi. It sounded like HEAVEN opened up and invited me in lol
@redsoxfan1324 i couldnt have say it better myself. The organ solo is beautiful (i wish i knew a better english word to express it - because it's way beyond beautiful: it touches something in you) and all 4 members are equally important, not only page or plant.
el no problemo. look at the acts from newport folk festival, bonnaroo, etc...im going to newport this year and there seems to be a bunch of good acts to look forward to...oh and mountain jam, as well
i like the organ intro i think it reinforces the idea that Led zeppelin was sent by god to rock our world. this song makes me think of the woman i love (she is not like the one in the song) it reminds me of her
well most mainstream stuff it's always worth looking at, though you find a lot of surprises out there...and fleet foxes aren't too mainstream...just very big among the underground circle
i was at a talent show where a contestant played , "where do the children play" by cat stevens on piano.--- except he pronounced the lyrics, "why do the children play", it was hysterical.
i think why everyone is confused is, becasue, the first vs i'm used to both 1: Lyin, cheating, hurtn that's all you seem todo AND/OR 2:Smoken, drinkn, (sleepn?) that's all you seem todo. so there are more than one versions that they do of this song... maybe that clears its up a little
ME TOO! it's like when people say taylore swift is country because there's a FIDDLE hitting 3 NOTES in the background! haha but bluegrass is amazing. check out bill monroe, earl scruggs, doc watson....there are others that i love but those are the ones that pop up....the punch brothers have a cover of gillian welch's song "wayside" and make it into a downhomesque song haha it's amazing! look up "kid a/wayside"
seriously. each generation is supposed to have some distinquishing quality. Even if its bad at least it makes them interesting. I dont think anyone is looking to relive the 80s but our generation is just bland and boring. As a 17 year old the way our world is heading has left me extremely jaded. In the words of Ian Anderson "lets go living in the past."
@myhokori358 Absolutely, I don't put any member of zeppelin above another, they are all so unique and thought their talent is nearly unrivaled, what sets them apart for me is the passion and soul they put into every note they play. Thats what I look for in music and (excluding Jimmy Hendrix) these four are far beyond anything else ever made or most likely will ever be made.
hell yeah man! but it's hard to do that in recordings...live versions give it away, right away....and you should always just check to see who produced and wrote the song because something that is mainstream and bullshit might end up being amazing because the artist ACTUALLY did it themselves...but all that stuff just branches out infinitely....it's best to stick with what sound good to you and what reflects your life lol imo
ITS so Easy AND fun to play in the Guitar . The same with "Thank you" AND " What Is and What Should Never Be" also Easy AND fun, AND the guitar solo for What Is and What Should Never Be i use a SLIDE for the Guitar solo AND sounds epic
One of my favorites also. Unfortunately this song describes how my divorce went down exactly. This song is me totally. It makes me cry over this karma and want the love of my life back. My life has been a trainwreck for 3 years and is all told in this one very song.
(CONTINUED) ...it'll blow you away...they go from a radiohead song into that! but also look up traditional irish and scottish folk tunes. most of bluegrass comes from those constructions. and hank williams is amazing ;) lol just sayin' OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH look up the preservation hall jazz band and the del mccoury band...they blend bluegrass and dixieland/new orleans jazz perfectly!
Love this song! Heard it the other day and it brought back so many memories!!! Loved growing up as a teen in the 70's!!
I know, right.
Kinda feels like you're in a cathedral participating in a high mass, doesn't it ???
Those were the best days!
So weird! Same here!
@@jetman7946Jimmy Page for you seeing he lives at Alestier Crowley's mansion where through automatic writing Stairway to Heaven was written.

Oh man, this is it right here. This jam takes me instantly back in time.

The best heartbreak song ever written (period)!
This has to be one of my favorite songs by Led Zeppelin. Really catchy

I love that organ/piano riff
Lyin, cheatin, hurtin ; that's all you seem to do
Amazing song just listen to the organ in the beginning This is REAL music
when the used instruments

No matter how bad of a day im having, just put on some Led Zeppelin and drift away into happyness.
Definitely a winner, gives me chills when I hear it. In my humble opinion, Led Zeppelin's !st was the best.
It's one of the most powerful, dark 🌑 break-up songs ever recorded. A great pre-break-up song is The Rolling Stones "Play With Fire".
Thank you. Been going thru it since last night so it’s nice to hear these to help feel alright
This Is A Bad Ass Song! F-In Love It!!!!!!!
Awesome!!!
Thank you Led Zeppelin! You put the feeling into music!
OMG!! that riff sounds exactly like traffic's dear mr fantasy riff. I can't believe there that close.
i live everyone of their songs. My life must have been molded from them...
Long live the ZEP
I am so glad I was raised listening the giants of rock - Led Zep, Queen and all the other wannabes.
This song is so cool in so many ways.....

John bohnam thank you so much brah💙 what a gift we got from you! Those heavies and john paul! Sir damn yall got it right dudes!🫡💙💚💙🧡💛🤙
It so perfect, man! Like a therapeutic catharsis of monumental proportions.
I think we've all retreated to Zeppelin after a woman deserts us. This kind of music just seems to touch your sould is such a perfect way. I listened to "D'yer Mak'er" one day after my girl left me. It went deep into me, but it's like intoxication of the soul.

thee greatest rock N' roll band ever!

One awesome Song:)
Thanks for postingg:D
led zeppelin....greatest band of all time...GO LED ZEPPELIN!
This is such a great song, man.
Love how JPJs pipe organ sounds, Page finger picking, Bonzo putting some serious muscle into pounding on his drums, and Plant singing!
Song has so much meaning
Finding Led Zeppelin I in my Dad's tapes at 13 years old was one of the greatest discoveries of my life!
+Paul Spees I'll never forget being 13 and alternating between listening to Led Zeppelin and jamming wildly in the next room. :)
That was me at 14 finding Zeppelin II, just the record, no jacket, amongst my moms records and listening on my grandmother's badass built in 60's hifi. It sounded like HEAVEN opened up and invited me in lol
kick ass video, nice job, absolutely great song from one of the greatest. Good job
beautiful rendition my friend. Many thanks.....

Classic,classic Zeppelin
this is one of my favorite tunes OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!#1
And this was their FIRST album.... wow!
@redsoxfan1324 i couldnt have say it better myself. The organ solo is beautiful (i wish i knew a better english word to express it - because it's way beyond beautiful: it touches something in you) and all 4 members are equally important, not only page or plant.
Great song!!!!! Thank you!!!
Non ho parole... semplicemente straordinaria
Their 1st great mellow song!🎶
"Dear Mr. Fantasy, place us a tune...."
_____ Thanx god ya'll know how to spell Zeppelin.....:) thanx for the upload dude......love it
Grace Potter plays a Hammond Organ and she plays the best cover
of this song on it.
el no problemo. look at the acts from newport folk festival, bonnaroo, etc...im going to newport this year and there seems to be a bunch of good acts to look forward to...oh and mountain jam, as well

Damn that feels Goooood :p
well most mainstream stuff it's always worth looking at, though you find a lot of surprises out there...and fleet foxes aren't too mainstream...just very big among the underground circle
Would have Loved to see their show. Led Zeppelin!!! 🥰
I always loved good organ music.
i was at a talent show where a contestant played , "where do the children play" by cat stevens on piano.--- except he pronounced the lyrics, "why do the children play", it was hysterical.
same thing for me bro , this song says it all
Long Live Zep's Music!!!!
I don't mind if this song "takes a while". It's a bad ass intro and a nice way to build that tension. I quite enjoyed that "wait".
This dong is amazing since 70's
They're telling the truth... But Jesus Christ is the redeemer ❤️
i think why everyone is confused is, becasue, the first vs i'm used to both
1: Lyin, cheating, hurtn that's all you seem todo
AND/OR
2:Smoken, drinkn, (sleepn?) that's all you seem todo.
so there are more than one versions that they do of this song... maybe that clears its up a little
good work, tks guy.
I love this place. hahaha, its like all the heartbroken people come here! Feel right at home!
I reached the satuation point with Lad Zep 20 years ago,
however I still love this song

Greatest break-up song ever.

This is my favorite song by led
Rick is on an island of his own... keep in mind he wrote songs like "Time" and "Echoes" shortly after Led Zeppelin's first few albums.
Best bit of organ in a song ranking along with Us & Them by Pink Floyd
Best break-up song EVER.
hell yeah man! but it's hard to do that in recordings...live versions give it away, right away....and you should always just check to see who produced and wrote the song because something that is mainstream and bullshit might end up being amazing because the artist ACTUALLY did it themselves...but all that stuff just branches out infinitely....it's best to stick with what sound good to you and what reflects your life lol imo

One of my favorites also. Unfortunately this song describes how my divorce went down exactly. This song is me totally. It makes me cry over this karma and want the love of my life back. My life has been a trainwreck for 3 years and is all told in this one very song.
love this song
