Kicking off our boys soccer coverage has Metea Valley hosting Streamwood. The Sabres come off a 2018 sectional championship win while the mustangs return 5 players from last year.
Game scoreless in the first half. Ball getting knocked around in front of the net until Joey Donovan comes in and finds the twine. Metea leading 1-0.
5 minutes left in the first half and Metea’s defense staying on their toes. Veteran goal keeper Ghandi Cruz makes a nice punching save to keep the stangs in the lead going in to the break.
Just a few minutes in to the second half and the Sabres find their footing. Alejandra Morels runs in to knock the ball past Cruz to tie the game up at 1s.
Just a minute later and Metea looking to recapture the lead off a free kick. Alex Krehl gets the goal to go…. But not really. It’s waved off due to offsides and the game would remain at a tie for the rest of the second half.
