Thank you so much for this easy to understand video. When I was new to sewing (2021), I heavily altered a pants pattern to fit me and I thought it was fine. Now that my sewing skills have improved, I started noticing the area below the knee of my pants had a slight drag line going on when I walked. Following your guidelines, I found the true grainline and balanced my pattern. The previous inner and outer seams of my pants were horribly off grain and the sewing seams did not evenly match. Total mess😅! A lot of creators talk about how to alter a pattern but not many people stress the importance of balancing the pattern after the alterations are made. Anyway, I made a mockup using my balanced pattern and the pants fit me so well that I didn't want to take them off lol.

This series is so incredibly helpful! I’m struggling a bit because the pants pattern I’m using doesn’t have a side seam, only an inseam seam. To make the seat adjustments I think I’m going to need to modify the pattern to include a side seam.

Thank you for your wonderful videos! I am learning a lot from them. I am plus sized, and would like to learn about pattern grading and adjusting a pattern to a larger size.

Which pants fitting issue is needing to be addressed when the pants seams to be tipping towards the back at the front mid thigh? My shorts and pants have always pressed there even though the leg isn't too tight. The back is usually comfortable, it just presses and pulls against the front. I also need to lengthen the back rise, shorten the front rise, lengthen the back crotch depth, and shorten the front crotch depth. Does one of these adjustments take care of that problem? I also notice that my pant legs raise up to mid calf when I sit, so I assume that this is caused by the same problem as whatever causes the pant leg to press against the thigh. Am I right, or does something else cause this? I have been binge watching your pants fitting videos as I have just found you.

I saw some knit pants with seams going down the front and back centres. Can a standard pattern be easily adapted to alter to include these? Is more than cutting the crease line and adding seam allowances from hem to waist involved?

Hi Alexandra, thank you for the videos. I am a size 18, but the Ellen pattern goes up to size 16. Do you have a size 18 pattern?
