Mark Golding Father and Mother were sent to Jamaica on two British diplomatic passport, Diplomats whose children are born overseas are citizen of their parents Country, Mark Golding and his siblings are British Nationals, Mark and his sister was never Registered in Jamaica ( That's why he cannot come up with a Jamaican birth certificate ) to silent his critics, Section 39 of the Jamaica Constitution shows who can Qualify to sit in the parliament, And that includes every Commonwealth Citizen, Who want to enter parliament, must have lived in the Country for no less than 12 months before an election or nomination, So if section 39 is taken by itself, it has always been thought that a person is in contravention if their citizenship is in a Non-Commonwealth country, or a country not part of the Common- Wealth, And Jamaicans who had American citizenships were taken to court by the PNP's in 2007, saying that They Should not be in The Parliament, because they were disqualified by The Constitution, And the Courts sided with them back then, Section 40 says if you were born in Jamaica, and you went to another Commonwealth Country, and apply for citizenship in that Commonwealth country, Then return to Jamaica and want to be elected, you first have to renounce That Canadian or British Citizenship before you can become eligible. Because you would have been disqualified under section 40 of the constitution, Section 40.2, says, No person shall be qualified to be appointed As a Senator or elected as a member of the House of Representatives, Who by virtue of his/her own act ( action )under any acknowledgement of Allegiance, Obedience, Or adherence to a foreign Power or State, hold or is acting in any public office, Again, it is plainly written in our Constitution, anyone who pledge allegiance to another power, even if that Power is a Commonwealth Country, That person have disqualified himself/herself from holding Any public office, most of us only look at section 39, and forget that section 39 is subject to section 40, British passports are normally valid for ten years, So if Mark Golding's father got him one as a child, he must have been renewing it periodically, And that act of renewing his British passport, according to Jamaica's constitution 40.2, disqualify him from holding any public office. Mark Golding's first Jamaican Passport was given to him when he was 46 or 47 years old, And that was a Jamaican diplomatic passport. Before, he had always travel on his British passport, So Mark is not telling the truth here, furthermore, As a British citizen he would not need to apply for a visa to travel to the United States or to the United Kingdom, I suggest that people also read section 41.( 1 B ) of the Constitution, it can be down loaded Online, it shows That Mark Golding is sitting in public office illegally since 2007, And I can see this issue Ending up in the Supreme Court. Mark Golding used the terminology, one foot in, and one foot out, to describe Andrew Holness's phase withdrawal from the British Crown, But it has come back to haunt him, because Andrew Holness has no problem with his citizenship.

Come on, constitution reform is the reason why this matter, because to address our own autonomy as a country , and so why not establish plausible cause why we should not go forward with our constitution reform because your loyalty is toward other sovereign nation , Jamaican can need to be inclusive of their autonomy under our constitution and its privilege.

There’s absolutely no excuse for this Mark…do the ethical thing and denounce this British Citizenship.. a man can’t serve two masters…this is ridiculous
There’s nothing wrong with dual citizenship for the purposes of travel, seeking healthcare, owning property, voting, etc. but if you’re going to *lead* a country, you shouldn’t have one foot in one foot out. If you mash up the country, you’re not going to want to live with those conditions. You’re going to get on the next available flight to London or wherever your passport will allow you to enter. It’s the same reason Ted Cruz (when he was a presidential candidate) was asked to renounce his Canadian citizenship. A leader of the country is charged with its national interests, and dual allegiance compromises that. This Commonwealth argument is nonsense. Jamaicans cannot even enter the UK for tourism without applying for a visa. The same with Canada and Australia. Why is there such favoritism towards these Commonwealth nations when that favor is not reciprocated? SMH.
how can a politician with dual citizenship be loyal to the country with which they serve? the simple fact that he has dual citizenship should show that he has also dual loyalty. this particular racial-religious group has a very long and documented history of holding dual loyalty.

Barack Obama did not have Kenyan citizenship though.
He renewed his British passport, which disqualified him , based onsectionsn 40 and 39 of the Jamaican constitution

No politician should have two citizenship
Okay so Babsy and Karl Samuda should not
Do right things mark
Oh lord lady, he said enough. What else do you need from this man
This is not about your father. It's about Mr. Golding.
If is dad was a criminal in Jamaica would accept been stereotype ?
Now that i understand how he has his dual citizenship I SUPPORT HIM 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 I'M JAMAICAN BUT ELIGIBLE FOR CHINESE CITIZENSHIP BY DECENT!
I don't think he should give up his British citizenship since Jamaica is still a member of the the commonwealth
All politicians are USELESS
So the country courting people who are dual citizen for tourism and investment in the country. Then treating them like 2nd class citizens because these people could take their jobs in government.
@alclarke6648, people are allowed to have and keep their dual citizenship, As long as
They don't enter our parliament making laws for us, if they want to serve in the parliament,
Then all they have to do is renounce their foreign citizenship, What is so difficult for people
to understand ?
Show the country your birth certificate.
Big up your self markie g
Politics mr golding u are a jamaican and we need u bigger issues are here to deal with
I completely agree that this is a distraction from the larger issues at hand. This is waste of space and time that he was naturalize by birth, he can't change that. His parents are British hence their kids are.
Also how comes none of these politicians are talking about Edward Seaga he was born in USA, he was white and he was the PM. Also they are talking about his heritage most jamaican are mix with different ethnicity, its extremely difficult to find a 100% black jamaican. Also everyone who is attacking this white man for his race you are no better than the racism blacks face in the rest of the world.
Also Andrew Holnes ancestors arent all black when he looks like that.
Wake up
I heard you say this is a attack on your skin shame because you were there when you all attack Eddie on the colour of his skin.😮😮
Same thing me say. Same knife wha stick sheep a jook d goat now!
Are we to understand that a British Passport has no expiry date?
?
He said he has renewed it
But he now only uses his Jamaican passport
And he wont be renewing rhe British passport
How can he say that there has been no public debate about his status? Bwoy him delusional and lie bad!

So you have a British passport and you apply for a British visa, that makes sense. So from you were a child you got a British passport because of your parents? So you never renewed it from then?
Stand firm jamaica's its about the chain releasing incident for me
GUH DEH ""NO LEGENCE TO ANY OTHER COUNTRY‼️""😡😡😡🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
This fool should not even be a MP
Is what he’s not one of ur favorite? Just a question
Mark needs to understand it's not a distraction but people question whether or not he truly cares about Jamaica's issues!
He has done things that never happened in Parliament before!
Big up Mark Golding 👏 🙌🏻 💪 👌
Opposition Leader Golding is a very ambitious Jamaican with sound academic achievements. Rep Golding dual citizenship should not be the deciding factor who has political aspirations to serve Jamaica.
Similar to the current PM Holness. Rep Golding should be granted the opportunity to lead Jamaica.
He is not a Jamaican citizen. His father was a diplomat
Did u know his mom is a Jamaican?
@HilaryBrooks-pc9kq show us is birth certificate
Anywhere you born that's where you from no matter where your parents from
@user-cg1yf8yq5t wrong, very wrong. The vienna Convention of 1961 changed that. Children of diplomats are not citizens of the country their parents are stationed. Even if they are born there. They are citizens of their parents' country.
No convention can't determine where you born that's your parents choice you born a Jamaica you are a Jamaican simple
Dont give it up. Stick to what the Constitution requires.
I can bet anyhow this was the Present PM of Jamaica all who defending his 'one foot in n one foot out' stance uno would a blast the PM n tell him to resign, but no cause a political allegiance uno cant see past the bigger issue!
The PNP behaves like Jamaica was willed to them, one set of rukes for the JLP but they should be allowed to 'run wid it'.
Even the civil society groups, the way they attack the Government while applauding the Opposition, makes you wonder?
By the way, speaking of civil society, his certification by the Integrity Commission does not include anything that he owns in England so it is not yet certifiable.
DO NOT Sir. NEVER Let Bobsy give up her Canadian citizenship 😮
How do you explain sections 39 and 40 of the constitution of Jamaica?
Take it to the courts
Glad that y'all journalist didn't gave Mark Golding a free pass. The issue at hand is; Mark Golding renewed his British Passport when it expired (thus pledging allegiance to a sovereign State - by his own volition). Which is disqualifying in the Jamaican Constitution - Section 39&40. Stop trying to hoodwink the J'can people, Mark. Renounce the British Monarchy - Or, lawyer up and see you in Court.
But didn't Shane Alexis have a problem when he disclosed that he was born in Canada. Isn't Canada part of the commonwealth?
What did Andrew did for Jamaica except enrich his self and his family. What about his statutory declaration? He swore to the queen, so he’s the one not to be trusted..
What’s your point??????? Mark is the one with the dual citizenship
B4 u chat check how much pnp sell out

Mark Golding Father and Mother were sent to Jamaica on two British diplomatic passport,
Diplomats whose children are born overseas are citizen of their parents Country, Mark
Golding and his siblings are British Nationals, Mark and his sister was never Registered
in Jamaica ( That's why he cannot come up with a Jamaican birth certificate ) to silent his
critics, Section 39 of the Jamaica Constitution shows who can Qualify to sit in the parliament,
And that includes every Commonwealth Citizen, Who want to enter parliament, must have
lived in the Country for no less than 12 months before an election or nomination,
So if section 39 is taken by itself, it has always been thought that a person is in contravention
if their citizenship is in a Non-Commonwealth country, or a country not part of the Common-
Wealth, And Jamaicans who had American citizenships were taken to court by the PNP's in
2007, saying that They Should not be in The Parliament, because they were disqualified by
The Constitution, And the Courts sided with them back then, Section 40 says if you were born
in Jamaica, and you went to another Commonwealth Country, and apply for citizenship in that
Commonwealth country, Then return to Jamaica and want to be elected, you first have to renounce
That Canadian or British Citizenship before you can become eligible.
Because you would have been disqualified under section 40 of the constitution, Section 40.2, says,
No person shall be qualified to be appointed As a Senator or elected as a member of the House of
Representatives, Who by virtue of his/her own act ( action )under any acknowledgement of Allegiance,
Obedience, Or adherence to a foreign Power or State, hold or is acting in any public office, Again,
it is plainly written in our Constitution, anyone who pledge allegiance to another power, even if that
Power is a Commonwealth Country, That person have disqualified himself/herself from holding
Any public office, most of us only look at section 39, and forget that section 39 is subject to section 40,
British passports are normally valid for ten years, So if Mark Golding's father got him one as a child, he
must have been renewing it periodically, And that act of renewing his British passport, according to
Jamaica's constitution 40.2, disqualify him from holding any public office. Mark Golding's first Jamaican
Passport was given to him when he was 46 or 47 years old, And that was a Jamaican diplomatic passport.
Before, he had always travel on his British passport, So Mark is not telling the truth here, furthermore,
As a British citizen he would not need to apply for a visa to travel to the United States or to the United
Kingdom, I suggest that people also read section 41.( 1 B ) of the Constitution, it can be down loaded
Online, it shows That Mark Golding is sitting in public office illegally since 2007, And I can see this issue
Ending up in the Supreme Court.
Mark Golding used the terminology, one foot in, and one foot out, to describe Andrew Holness's phase
withdrawal from the British Crown, But it has come back to haunt him, because Andrew Holness has no
problem with his citizenship.
Take it to the court
When these hosts feel like they are asking hard hitting questions. Waste of the Mr. Golding time. This is not even a subject matter worth discussing. The man is fully compliant and within the remit of the constitution.
Andrew Holness dual citizen status and the implementations for Jamaica.
Why was it a secret for so long
Cast of living is a issue all over the world. And the government doesn't increase not one thing.
Don’t give it up
dont given it up keep it
I think Massachusetts is a commonwealth state of the USA
Your common sense is under your foot bottom. The man is a born Jamaican, never live anywhere else but Jamaica. PM Andrew swear to the queen to be on the privy Council. Mark got his citizenship from his dad born in the UK. how much of the other candidate has dual citizen? Don’t throw stone if you live in a glass house. Use your common sense if you have one.

Jamaica need a Black man/Black woman time of at least 400 years self Black (anti colonial minded) governance to heal the embedded self hatred enslaved trauma.......
The full information. Is in the jamaican constitution. Mark is smart he should read and interpret the constitution properly.
It's not required by the constitution but by the people. Just renounce it and done. It's clearly a conflict of interest and seems you are derailing the process of becoming a republic for your own personal gains.
Media in Jamaica is so stupid the question 🙋♂️ they ask is insane, don’t do something that’s illegal, your not doing anything illegal stay strong

There’s absolutely no excuse for this Mark…do the ethical thing and denounce this British Citizenship.. a man can’t serve two masters…this is ridiculous
U going to move U might run away people wake up and don't see u
Section 39 is subject to section 40 which is clearly states (a) by virtue of his own act, under any acknowledgment or allegiance, obedience or adherence to a foreign power or state.
