Welcome to #Pulsar: Lost Colony Multiplayer part 1! I am so very, very excited to share this game with you! A fellow TH-cam creator, Brascus, invited me to join his crew in a Pulsar: Lost Colony Let's Play, as we explore the far reaches of space together on our very own spaceship! This game is currently in early access development by Leafy Games. I will be playing the engineer, but there are also captain, pilot, scientist, and engineer posts to fill! This game is in the same vein as #Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator, if you’re familiar with that. Let’s have some fun!

A RANDOMIZED GALAXY TO EXPLORE
At the beginning of every voyage, the sectors of the galaxy are randomly generated. Each sector may be occupied by a faction and contain enemies, space stations or planets. As you continue your voyage, the galaxy dynamically changes as sectors get overtaken by other factions and the level of chaos rises. Embark on far-off missions, engage in combat within enemy sectors, and explore the fringes of the galaxy.
JOURNEY ALONE OR WITH FRIENDS
Each crew consists of up to five members. You can play offline with bots or cooperatively with friends online. Alternatively, you can take a ship out by yourself and perform all tasks of the crew, although it may prove to be quite a challenge.
EVERYONE PLAYS A KEY ROLE ON THE SHIP
There are five available classes-Captain, Pilot, Scientist, Weapons Specialist and Engineer. Each role has its own responsibilities to perform aboard the ship. Coordination between your crewmembers will be necessary for survival during your voyage. More info about the classes can be found here.
JOIN THE AWAY TEAM
Leave the comforts of your starship behind to explore stations and planets. These locations may be necessary to complete the next objectives in your missions, or contain salvageable items that can be of great value to your crew. Use caution, however, as these places are not always hospitable.

This series looks really fun so far. The game is interesting and so are the interactions between you guys.
The interactions are /the best/. There's nothing quite like that moment after we drop out of warp, and are waiting for the scan to see if there's hostiles, or if we're being targeted. I have to say that combat is delightfully hectic, and everyone seems to have their hands /just/ full enough to keep them well occupied!
I'm only about a minute in and can already tell this is a series i'll like. I've been looking for someone doing the engineer role to see if the game is worth getting
I haven't played much with AI-only crews, nor random public games, but if you have a couple buddies to play with it is an absolute blast :)

Engineering role is most entertaining to watch
I love it!! This looks reeeeeeally cool !!! :)
Isn't it excellent? The banter makes it that much better. I think this would be fun to play in an online group, but nowhere near as fun as playing with a crew in voice chat. The dynamic of running your station while keeping aware of other's condition is excellent!
For example, there are some cases where weapons have been obliterated. I can set things up to mostly be ok at engineering (for example pop coolant on low since I can't babysit it), and run down to help put out fires and repair quick.

Well, no guarantee on keeping the ship in one piece... but there will be many more episodes, and /many/ more laughs (not to mention, many more fire extinguisher battles!)

When they said that the blaster fire marks are permanent the first thing that occured to me was to write the following message in blaster fire "Stop writing messages in blaster fire!"

I'm not that kind of engineer, I'm afraid. I've heard a lot of disgruntled folks on the forums complaining about how hard it can be to set up a decent crew without someone coming on and ejecting the core. All I can say is I'm glad +Brascus is setting up a private game, and that the worst we get into are fire extinguisher fights ;D

Having pre-recorded quite a few of these episodes now, I agree that I did not know how to engineer early on (and arguably, I'm still learning the finer points)! That being said, perhaps the latter episodes will contain more aptitude, and in the mean time, I think there is some comedy in an semi-competent crew ;)
