    I understand it's important to move right along...Get it over with for the dog as well. He is shaking....very nervous/scared. Couldn't you talk to him once in a while to try and calm him? You're a very good groomer. Wish there was someone here where I live as good as you are...Thank you. Will be watching more.

    Thank you for this tutorial.
    Good that you pointed out to Edwards owner re his very rotten teeth. This little pooch must be in pain, with raw gums.
    How do owners not see the condition of their pets teeth?

    You use guard combs. I only have a one inch comb. I mostly use a 5,7,& 3 blades for the body. What are your 2,3,4 guards comparable to?

    • @myfavoritegroomer
      @myfavoritegroomer  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      2 guard more like a 4 blade, goes through faster, 4 guard like a 5 blade, 3 blade like a 1 guard.

    I have a question I have a short hair Chihuahua and take him to get a shave down because he sheds a lot but it cost 60 dollars what kind of clippers can i use and how much please help me

    • @myfavoritegroomer
      @myfavoritegroomer  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching. You can see me groom Faith and Saki, both my girls and chihuahua mixes. For starters, definitely get one of these clippers. Cheap clippers at your local grocery store won't do it right. Use a 10 blade down. But, just shaving doesn't fix everything. You need to dashed the hair too. Furminator's are awesome, I have them here: squareup.com/market/myfavoritegroomer/item/de-shedder-furminator Here is the link to the clippers I use. They are very good. The best I have ever used and I have used a lot. They are light weight so they are easy on my wrist! squareup.com/market/myfavoritegroomer/item/andis-excel-speed-pro-clip
      However, here are the ones I have as back up and the ones I've used for many years at a lower rate. squareup.com/market/myfavoritegroomer/item/andis-speed-used-clippers

    is there a reason people get their yorkies tail docked? my yorkie has a long tail so I’m assuming theirs was docked

    • @myfavoritegroomer
      @myfavoritegroomer  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's a breed thing. Sometimes the breeder cuts em right off when born, puppies might not feel a thing at that point, some have a Vet remove them. You could google for better answers. Some, don't have them docked. It's all up to the owners and breeders I believe.

    • @hotlatina47
      @hotlatina47 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Amanda, docking tails of yorkies not necessary! That is the choice of a breeder but, in all honesty, unless they are going into show with them, really not necessary! As a matter of fact, other countries have outlawed tail docking. Remember, back in a day, yorkies were used to go after rodents in mines, and believe it or not, that tail was used to grab onto to pull them out otherwise they will continue to dig! I have two, and they are docked because they came that way, but if I got one that had a long tail, that is just fine! The tail does not take away from the breed. In all honesty, docking the tail is an AKC thing and THEY take away from the breed! Just saying.

    • @StreetTruckinTitan

      Ive got a 9yr old male Yorkie with a docked tail and just rescued a 2 yr old Yorkie female wih a long tail. I have to admit I prefer the look of a docked tail so much more. But she's a pretty girl nonetheless.

    • @mickelrayross
      @mickelrayross 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually they were docked on working dogs so when they had to pull them out of rodent holes there was a knob to grab onto and they wouldn't " break" there tail's.

    • @eunice8116
      @eunice8116 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Amanda S here in England tail docking is illegal in all dogs other than if you are obtaining a puppy as a worker dog then the tail can possibly be docked as the tail could get injured whilst working in and it of vehicles for example if the tail is to be docked it would have to be done no later than up to three day after birth! Even here in England our kennel club only recognise in undocked dogs only that also goes from rotties to toy poodles! We see it and are now acceptance to it.

    I groom my Yorkie , Chloé , myself. I’ve treated her eye discharge problem ( vitamins for eye bacteria) and ears mites, she came with. She came from from a puppy mill in Hudson two years ago. She’s one of the 70 rescued dogs that was there for her first three years of her life. I am very picky and grooming her is an art that she enjoys now two years with me. I’m very gentle with her and remove all the loose hairs as soon as they’re cut.. I make sure to brush her teeth daily.. it is sad that people who own these pets are not taking care of them as they should be..

    I was wondering if you have any suggestions for my curly haired yorkie. He’s a rescue that had been locked in a closet with a kennel and paper 24/7. He was so matted I had to have him shaved. I won’t mention the chain a
    I took him to but he was so freaked out after I’ve done it myself ever since. My question is, his feet are very ticklish and he won’t let me do them. I put it off because he so hard to do. He sits down, so I can’t get to his haircut. The only thing I can do with no problem is cutting his bangs. I comb from behind where he can’t see the scissors. Other than that, I need any advise you can give. Right now he has some matting but I think I can get them out. If nothing else, I can cut them out and not change the shape of his cut. Finally, I paid more than the original owner to get him and am sure he needs an old baby tooth pulled. The only quote I got was $1000. Any ideas with that would be great. Oh, and one of his hind legs does pop so I usually trim as best I can.
    Thanks so much for your video, just what you’ve shown here has been so helpful!

    Bad teeth is caused by a lot of wet food versus the healthier dry food to clean the teeth. Table food causes this too. Poor thing, can just imagine how sore his mouth is.

    Hey Dede, have been watching your videos, interesting! Thought I'd offer a tip, keep a roll of scotch tape in your supplies (keep in a zip lock lunch bag to keep clean from excess hair). A piece of tape ON the splinter hair can tide over your hand until you can get a pair of tweezers to take out the hair splinter. Your finger won't be irritated while you finish the groom. Sometimes the piece of tape can pull the splinter out! Try it!

    I groom my chinese crested myself. He does have more hair then the average hairless standard so i mostly clean him up and cut his bangs with a thinner. And I shave his face with a electric brow trimmer (safest thing i could figure to use. More control and it doesn't cut him) I started grooming him myself since the groomers around me seemed oddly unsure about how to go about working on him. He has some hairs that are hard to see that also need shaving down here and there on his body and bum.
