Its good to see a boxer with the sense to stop when he has a possible life changing injury, its nothing to do with heart and all to do with brains. Good to see the fighter now recovered and getting his career back on track. Very good performance by Joyce.

I can see both sides of the argument. Maybe he could have dug deeper when it got tough for him and not quit. But also, if he did fight on, he may have gone blind in one eye or ended his career.
Reminds me of George Groves vs Chris Eubank Jr. At the start of the 12th round, George dislocated his shoulder and his left arm was useless for the entire round. He didn't quit - instead, he dug deep and fought back with one arm.
It's a really tough call.

@@HolyRollerTV If they quit like aj did, that can be damaging to a person's career. But Dubois quit over a serious injury. Thats fine. AJ wasn't seriously hurt. he quit but was lucky that the fighter he fought has a weakness...can't move fast. so punch and run is the way to win.
That was clever, calm and calculated boxing from Joyce. That jab is some weapon.
I think he surprised alotta ppl including me. I thought he would be too slow and get knocked out but he has proved himself in this fight

Commentators spoiled the fight. Constant banging on about Dubois winning and producing flashy shots, whilst everyone else could see the polar opposite. The best man won, and that was JJ.

Dubois' eye went in the early rounds. For him to keep fighting until round ten on fairly even terms is a testament to his great courage and endurance.
I was surprised by how many people were writing Joe Joyce off given his extensive experience at elite amateur level.

Very true. Joe Joyce doesn't get as much respect as he should. Commentators are very good at pointing out what he can't do and focusing on that.
I know Dubois has since rebounded with a win, but he really needs to learn because he was schooled by an opponent using the most basic tactics of all.

I thought that, all they needed to do was show on the screen a strong language warning at the start of the fight if people were REALLY going to be offended by that! I'M SURE most people can tolerate hearing swear words during a LIVE sporting event, I get they have to cover their backs in case of any complaints to Ofcom or whatever but they REALLY DIDN'T need to keep on saying that every 5 minutes or so, it just got annoying afterwards! 🤦🏾♂️ 😂 🙄

I saw duboi was out of his depth struggling and wanting to quit from round 7. But his team kept pushing him on, he was also looking tired and his power slowly going down. Good work for both sides, unfortunately duboi has taken a step up too early I'm afraid and wanting to go home he's had enough. Lol
After his dismantling and K.O victory over Joseph Parker, I will not underrate or overlook Joe Joyce again.
The difference in corner work is stark. Clear instruction Vs empty panicked encouragement.

After seeing Joice true potential as a heavyweight after the Parker KO I really appreciate how good DD is. He showed a lot in a fight against a guy that we now know as an elite fighter and he is only 23 at the time of this fight. For sure he is a huge prospect who I am sure will not lose his confidence from this one loss. Especially after seeing how Joyce has surpassed many expectations of late.
Spot on. I was one of those who underestimated the toughness and quality that Dubois showed in this fight. And Joyce? Well, I've always underestimated the big lump.

R3 Joyce - (close round) - amazing 20 sec for Dubois then gets jabbed for 2 mins, tries to come back in last 30 sec
R4 Dubois - (close round) great body work from Dubois and surprising head movement from Joyce who maintains his doom jab
R5 Dubois - ups the work rate with good accuracy. Doesn't stop Bowers from giving him a bollocking anyway
R6 Dubois - (close round) good mixup, could go either way
R7 Joyce - (close round) I disagree with the commentators here, too many good jabs. A repeat of R3
R8 Joyce (close round) - could go either way
R9 Joyce - Dubois starts to fall apart
So by my count to Joyce 5 - 4, 86 - 85 by the end of the ninth. Lots of close rounds though, so maybe the official cards aren't totally absurd.

I thought they commented well on the relentless jab despite the bigger shots from Dubois. Lesser men have fallen to Dubois, but Joe's chin seems to be as solid as his jab. A good fight. Well done to both men.

Commentators keep saying 'Dubois took the round', then it goes to the corner and Dubois is beat up and puffin for air. While Joyce looks like the fight hasn't even started yet. Joyce is an illusion. Looks worse than he is.
Joyce has the best chin i have ever seen. But surely taking massive shots all his career is going to catch up with him later in life. Its kind of sad really but its his choice. These are both nice guys too.
Joe's so underrated he's got alot of tools he's got really good stamina a really good jab good power rock solid chin what's not to like yeah he's not as fast as some but as this fight shows he's fast enough to give a young explosive guy enough trouble i think if he really went for it with Daniel he could of stopped him in better fashion.

I'd like to see Joyce fight povetkin. Povetkin is fast and can crack which will really trouble Joyce but Joyce walks people onto huge shots that I doubt povetkin could get up from.

number 1 thing I always notice about joyce in all his fights is how relaxed his shoulders are.. there is no tension there...like lennox lewis, tyson fury etc.... it makes me think of all the heavyweight boxers who make it big really...compare his shoulders to dubois, david price, mike tysons opponents (for the most part) .. Not saying he could achieve anything near what lewis or fury have achieved, but he was underrated by dubois team.. and fury & lennox were often underrated.

commentators talk a load of rubbish claiming Dubois has been learning as he goes. The guy had nearly 100 amateur fights and was on the GB squad but chose to go pro early. This whole event was set up by Warren to springboard his golden goose's career but it backfired and he still can't accept that he's backed the wrong horse

beautiful stunning little counters from jj, working on the damage. well done Joe. dubois did well earlier on, landed some great power punches, jj must have known the odds where in his favour after 7 rounds. jj was prepared go the distance. jj took quite a few power punches earlier to the chin but as ever, just absorbs them.

Joyce takes a lot on the gloves and braces himself well, deceptively crafty style. When they do get through he has a concrete chin, proper unit.
He just sees them all coming which is a science all by itself.
The seconds out interview a couple days after the fight Joe Joyce mentioned how Daniel Dubois power is comparable to Bermane Stiverne and Ian Lewison. Daniel Dubois called out Wilder, Fury and Whyte but any one of these guys would have obliterated DDD.

@@akordist I've just looked Hrgovich up on Boxrec. He's beaten some good fighters for someone at 12-0. However, I really think Hunter is incredibly talented and underrated so I think I'd still cautiously pick him (over both Hrgovich and Joyce).
