I actually do kind of like the flash look but it still sucks you can't switch it off, it doesn't really work in every situation especially with the skin tones.

Image quality is identical because the lenses and film are basically the same. It’s just a bit tricky to do controlled tests between the two. However if you prefer the SQ1 it’s a great camera :).
I came to the same conclusion and got an instax SQ6 and this week I received my Fujifilm handgrip. It seems only to be available in Japan. The handgrip screws into the tripod mount of the SQ6.
I'm really puzzled as to why Fujifilm decided to produce this camera. The only upside I see to it over the SQ6 is the fact that it has slightly better picture quality, but like you said it's not even worth mentioning. I'm also thinking maybe they wanted to give the SQ range a model that looked similiar to a Instax Mini...the colours are cute though
It has a better lens and takes sharper photos than the SQ6. Also, many people like old school instant film cameras, not a bunch of settings and buttons

Both cameras produce identical results when you're just pointing and shooting how've with the Sq6, the wider range of features can help you produce better looking images, so it has greater potential.
I have the neo classic 90 and am looking for a second instant camera. The issue I find with fujifilm is they are not very good for low light and clarity.
mini 90 is the best bright cameras for low light home;is only good think for this camera;and not fired highlights,face not appear "flashed" also at 30 cm

I think Fuji messed up big time with the sq1, it's literally the mini 11 with a different design and slightly bigger films. If at least we could turn off the flash and control the exposure it wouldn't be that bad but nope. Even 100-200, digital cameras have more options than the new Instax line (mini 11 and sq1)
@@RestorationAustralia That's true does depend on the kind of ambient light you have but it's not a great solution in most cases. The camera is accouting for the flash to make up a large portion of the exposure and if you block it then there's a high chance for an under exposed image. There are circumstances where it's fine but it's not ideal. I think Fuji should just give the option to control the flash, it's silly that they didn't.
There aren’t any differences in images because the film is the same. You can’t really have better image quality in one over the other. Having said that, if you prefer the SQ1 that’s perfectly fine. Some friends of mine disagree with me and some agree soo it’s perfectly fine :). Thank you for watching.
@@michaelbell75 just double checked the actual film and the SQ1 isn’t sharper. The scanning process I used isn’t great so maybe that created some differences but the actual film both are identical In detail and sharpness.
I wonder why the Wide 300 still doesn't have a new version? That one needed a redesign and better camera more than all the other ones in my opinion, but they seem to not care about the wide line as much the square and mini sadly
because fuji is a bad company,all people wants a better looking wide cameras, leather,cromed glass lens af but nothing, they love fisher price ugly basic cameras that cost nothing to built and not is problem if many units not was sold

Unfortunately, it's now been discontinued. There are still a few in circulation but due to demand and lack of supply, unfortunately the price may continue to go up for a bit.
Im obsessed w light blue, burnt orange, and cream so you can imagine how sad i am to see new square instax cameras w those colors, just w no real improvement. I do adore the new design but it just doesnt seem worth it if you already have one.

Wow the price difference is pretty significant. The SQ1 is still a brilliant camera. If you dont mind the flash i think youll still love the results it produces.

The main question is: Why are all photos out of focus with these cameras? It's ridiculous that they can't provide simple AF or at least a proper distance scale on a manual focusing ring. :-/ I love the look of the film itself, but I wouldn't tolerate randomly out of focus images.

Covering the flash produces a highly under exposed image. The camera expects part of the exposure to be filled with the flash soo that’s option doesn’t work. You just end up with wasted film.
Man just admit it, at the expensive price of that film those camera's are crap. I just sold the wide 300 for the same reason. Far better to take pictures on your phone and then print them out after editing with an Instax printer. Far better results, no film wastage and no personal regret for buying a crap camera.

Covering the flash will result in underexposed images. The camera expects the flash to fire and sets the shutter speed accordingly.

I haven't tried the mini but the film size in the Sq6 is much large and I think the larger film makes for more meaningful images. I'd go for the SQ6.

If you do, the image will be heavily underexposed. Unfortunately it doesn’t work :(.

I would want a self timer and I would want a tripod.
You can put the SQ6 on a tripod however I don't think it has a timer function. Can't an option for it.

They both focus is the same way so if you don’t take a picture in the area where the cameras are in focus then yes pictures may appear blurry.
