    Looks like an amazing torch especially for the size factor.
    The issue I have primarily is the advertising in recent years, if you advertise a torch is 12,000 lm, it should do 12,000 lm continuously until the battery runs down. No specific conditions or compromises involved.
    When I used to build high power search lights, if I stated 30,000 lm at 5 million candela, The expectation would be that is the output on a continuous basis, not for 30 seconds or a minute etc.
    Don’t get me wrong it is a fantastic feature, absolutely, however there is almost a deliberate misconception inherent in the figures stated by manufacturers these days.
    Thanks for a very thorough and great review mate, much appreciated✌️

    First LED flashlight review I've ever clicked "like" on. Just a smart, sensible man who didn't pound another Red Bull before recording.
    I'd prefer end-to-end pairs of 21700s in a round body (not flat like LR35R) for long life rather than for 12,000 lumens and a smaller head. I guess I just got addicted to those sucky 2-D cell Ray-O-Vacs in my youth and can't come clean, despite how sucky they were.
    Thanks! So Chrispy! (By the way, I'm quite liking my Fenix PD35 for walking with wife and dogs on a Colorado winter's night. Don't need a search light for that.)

    Would have liked to have seen you test how long you can run this light in TURBO mode. Is it only for the "typical" 2-3 minutes? Why do they advertise 1 hour plus?? I mean in the end they do call this mode "turbo" for a reason. As in cars "turbo"" (like supercharghing/NOS) is for a "temporary boost" of power. But this light does have a High-2? 5000 lumens...forget the runtime. Maybe you could test exactly how long a light will run at the 2nd highest mode.... are the advertised numbers close?

    • @ChrispyThings
      @ChrispyThings  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did test that. I usually do a 2 minute test because that’s how long turbo usually lasts at the most. But in this case I didn’t see any step down in those 2 minutes.
      They advertise 1 hour plus because they combine turbo with high runtimes. It’s atypical tactic with flashlight companies

    And as usual for Fenix, it's really 12000 lumens for 30 seconds and step down to a third of that. Not totally sure having this honking size is worth it for that short duration extreme light output. While I like some of their products, they could really do without the misleading advertising.

    • @ChrispyThings
      @ChrispyThings  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not at all.
      The step down started at 45 seconds but was so slight I could barely see it after 2 minutes. Definitely wasn’t a third.
      So I’d say it was still close to 3000-2800 lumens even after 2 minutes. That’s an estimate

    • @logitech2072
      @logitech2072 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChrispyThings Do you honestly believe that they're not burying the 45 second runtime in their advertising literature? They friggin list 12000 lumens as 1hour 50 minutes with an asterisk.
