When that update hit and we get actual online training mode the level up is gonna be CRAZY. Preciate you for having me on the channel always tho brotha. Mf's got jokes, but the progress has been real. We gon keep getting better. believe that.
Have him run through the sample combos, then have him try to pull it off in fights against you. Teach him how to whiff punish and capitalize off of it.
Lotus is FOREVER the homie for backing you up against the other homies and helping you. It’s too memorable to forget. He’s the homie that comes through when you’re getting jumped and actually kicks everyone’s ass lol 🤝. Forever goated
3:08-4:00 The calm explanation followed by smooth execution of the attacks just exerts pure sensei energy from LotusAsakura, awesome to see him in your videos! Keep training Afro, you've got this!
I don't think Afro (and Lotus?) knows this, but Drags grabs in heat mode are unbreakable. So if you're in heat, definitely do more grabs because there's nothing they can do about it.
At 12:04 you guys were casually talking over it, but ducking the high and doing a low jab to finish out the round was nice. Shows that you really try to adapt to what Lotus says, good job man.
Afro these are the questions you should ask to get what you want. What are the moves that give me advantage on block? What are the follow-up moves that can help keep my advantage? What are moves that I can use to steal my turn back? Ask them that and any tekken player should give you exactly what you want.
A lot of Tekken is instinct. Character knowledge really helps but you just gotta anticipate and know when to lay the smack. Something to learn overtime
Student and Master Episode where they spar and share knowledge feels like exactly the Episode we needed in this arc to get all us spectators at ease lol. Seeing Afro revert to Specialty a while back really broke some souls lol.
Seeing Afro learn about the small intricate things about an actually fighting game is crazy like the footies and basically knowing when it's your turn to hit is fun to watch reminds me for when I was first getting into fighting game 💯
Afro if u see this, low parry by holding down + forward. Alot of strings in this game have very see-able lows or lows that you know are coming, example that jab, jab, low kick, high kick string from Hwoarang. Instead of blocking the low, and potentially the rest of the string, just low parry and get a mini combo and pressure instead.
It actually take a lot of time to become a god of tekken. Knee has been playing tekken for over 20 years now. Also PhiDX took like a year or 2 to become a pro, and that’s with focused training and playing with actual pros to teach him the game. Also I know u don’t actually mean Afro being pro lv, to hit lotus lvl is pretty achievable for Afro.
@@newbeginning2045 he only lost against Leeland and slightly by Mark though, he pulled a comeback against Dylan and beat Ben, Idk why people talking crazy about how RDC washed Afro.
@@akbar10kwbc he has for sure put more time into the game then Dylan or Ben and still took Ls to them lol but it’s mostly overplayed for laughs. But Afro who has been practicing and learning from way better players can’t go in there and lose to Dyl and Ben who are just doing shit in practice mode for a bit
Funny how afro mentions he wants to keep attacking and pressure while the enemy is blocking. Dragunov has the perfect moves(wr2, b1+2, qcf4 etc.) for that he just needs to use them more often.
If you need to enforce your pressure with Dragunov just use your Back 1+2 for a mid and Down back 3+4 for a low, the low is launch punish but it's +7 on hit do definitely worth using. Those 2 moves plus your jabs, grabs, running 2 and full crouch down forward 1,4 string will carry you very far
@werdumed6665 these are good tips though. Especially learning when it's your turn to take a hit. A lot of people need to hear that. The amount of Hwoarangs, Asuka and Reinas are going crazy with standing combos.
Yo im new to Tekken but i picked up Drag and been learning some things. When you don’t have time to punish with a launcher you can do 4,1 (O and then Square). This is your very quick punish with decent damage. Also when you’re near the wall at the end of your bnb combo you can do d1,2,1+2 (Down X, Triangle, Triangle + Square). This is a high damage combo ender. Or you can do wr4 (run and then O) which is also good for damage. If you’re fast enough you can input the wr4 combo ended when the opponent is on the wall at the end of your combo and then immediately do the d1,2,1+2 for some crazy extra damage.
Oh fuck yeah, Afros startin to look cleaner. More patience, good strings, wall combos, mixed throws, we might be on the road to some good ass tekken with this one. Also, it would be good to start teaching him about reading. Simple stuff like "how does he react after he blocks my heat smash? He ducks? Ill throw a mid after next time i do it" simple application of stuff like that has won me matches that seemed way above my skill level.
9:15 the king probably did his shove, which is super plus on block and if you do get hit it doesnt do damage but if you get caught pressing buttons while he shoves you he can pull off a whole combo or at least get a few good hits in
im here for the journey though i just got serious on my first fighting game frfr mk1 I always knew combos but never frames and all that but for mk1 ik the frames for most top played characters just from playing them so much its a lot more simple than tekken so I feel I'm understanding what everyone is teaching u its def good knowledge
Afro. Senju. Very proud that you have continued this series. I have watched you for years and honestly I was a non believer that you could learn tekken but you are doing so well dude. Love the content. And also shootout lotus too. You're doing God's work.
Afro a good bit of advice that helped me when I learned tekken is to think of your opponent moves in pairs it doesn’t mean they gon hit u with a jab jab and stop but like they do jab jab then something else and when u block that second set of attacks then u can try your offense
If you want to pressure you opponent thats block plus frames are the key. A BIG plus frame move you're just not using is his sneak 4. You can access it from a few different strings. If you want to level up your drag, I'd sit down in training one day and just go over his whole move list. You'll find moves you dont need, but if you see ones that you like, write them down so you can remember later.
I couldn't be more proud 🙏 the level of dedication and the progress we've seen since day 1 is amazing. You just need to believe in yourself more and the sky is the limit bro 👍
For your question just before 10:00 the solution is timing and patience and learning the characters. When you fought Mark he didn’t know any real combos he beat you cuz he knew when he could or couldn’t attack. Dylan beat you because you didn’t know when you should or shouldn’t and he was doing the same thing over and over. It’s not about combos it’s about learning the basics. Get a good framework know your character and learn others. Then worry about stringing things
Afro I’m super proud of you. Getting good at Tekken is so much about patience and not forcing things. Keep pounding those defensive fundamentals and nailing your punishment and you’re going to beat most players for sure. You’re on your way.
We should all inspire to reach the level Lotus is on. Bro can take 70% of your health in a single string while casually having a conversation with you.
On the whole 10 string block thing- anything more than 3 moves in strings gives the blocker plusframes and give opportunity to sidestep/counterpunch/grab

I’m glad you’re taking it seriously because it crazy you have a wealth of knowledge and friends who will take the time to teach you the inner workings where so many have to watch non personal TH-cam videos and can’t ask anyone questions. It’s why it was so painful before cuz you have resources to fast track your game that others don’t and you kept just wasting for the easy mode button that didn’t exist. I hope you actually stick to it and get great because you are an excellent gamer
This is what I’m here for man, love seeing you get better at the game. Props to lotus for being such a good friend and teacher.
