This video got me thinking that today's game is so power focused, you forget how important course management is and also with hickory club's you can't really go after the ball too hard so seems to be a lot more relaxed and easy going game of golf where today guys are all about the latest technology and pumping it at the gym. I also think injury wise the guys were a lot better off back then. Awesome to see you having a blast in Scotland 👍 people seem really friendly.
Sunset Echo yea that niblick was almost impossible to chip with haha it had zero bounce. Yes the game sure has changed and was so refreshing to get out there to see where the game originated from! Was a trip of a lifetime that’s for sure and the people couldn’t have been nicer!
Nice 4 holes Zac. I think the nibblic is the equivalent of the 9 iron. If you look at the old timers who played those type of courses back in the day, their putting style was a lot more wristy because the greens were a lot slower. It's kinda like putting on a brand new shag carpet.

I've played hickory golf for 10 years. I would encourage anyone interested in golf to give them a try, particularly here where everything is done in the traditional fashion. Great experience.

A normal 1920s set comprises 2 woods, 4 irons and a putter. When steel shafts came into use in the late 1920s club manufacturers saw an opportunity to make more profit and said "you can't play half or three-quarter shots as easy with steel shafted clubs hence we need more clubs in a set"...virtually over-night people went from playing with 7 clubs to about 12.....I collected hickory clubs for 21 years and have 55 sets.
I see Zac well from my point of view it may not work for you but it does for me when the greens are high like that they don’t break as much sometimes not at all now that’s just me you know everybody is different so if your still playing that try not to read as much break in it

The Deer head on the board would of had a bell under its neck, you would've rung the bell to tell the group behind you that you were clear of the green and they were good to tee off.
