I visited this house in September of 2015. Nicest and friendly bunch of guys you will ever meet. Treated me like one of there own. Thanks for your service.
The paramedics and firemen deserve a lot of credit your service and time and efforts are deeply appreciated even in the windy city of Chicago job well done you should be amazed and proud love you guys great catches as usual you guys rock ! Joe
CFD squad companies are a two piece unit. Squad A is the 55' snorkel the other unit "not marked B" is the special equipment van. It carries various tools as well as manpower. Hope that's helpful.
I am very impressed the way these stations run right in the downtown area of a busy city like Chicago. E42 T3 SQUAD 1 AND 1A AMB 42 , 271 AND AMB 93 IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN ON THE APPRATUS IN THIS HOUSE. Very well maintained.
Fun fact: The Green lights on the trucks symbolizes when the old fire chief had a lot of involvement in the shipping industry which a green light is found on the sideboard of ships and/or is a symbol to fallen firefighters in the chicago area
Way back when one of the commissioners also owned a steamship line. He liked the look of the red and green lights on his ships and brought it over to the department. A lot of firehouses have red and green lights on the front as well.
Is this is the same for all fire houses and squad units? Or can you sometimes get a second part of squad without the first squad unit? Thanks for the reply, regards from UK 🇬🇧
Code 3 productions Where I am from we have 2squad unit's.Not like Chicago's but there 2 pieces.1piece is a engine with extra stuff on it but the 2nd piece doesn't go out all the time it only go's on water rescues or collapse issues or a very bad fire.
Be better that instead of having a siren, that they changed it to; A butt breath, this means.you. Get the hell out of the way. Can you imagine having that coming from the front of a Fire Truck
A full house response, sth I can only dream of; It's simply not possible to film a full house rsponse at the career FD in my city, they simply have too many apparatus, covering so many normal and special operations that no scenario would require all of them
Here in Italy only in distaccamento (fire stations with 2 apparatus or more ) you could see a full house response,in fire headquarter it's impossible because it means the turnout of main engines ,main pupmer/tankers,main ladder trucks ,hazmat van and primary decontamination unit(big fire headquarter also shelter),mobile command unit, officer's car, chief's car and more other vehicles. If you mean for a full house response the turnout of only main units a full house response in italian fire headquarter means all main engines,pumper/tankers,ladder trucks ,officer's car, chief's car and mobile command unit.
firetrucklover1- to Answer your question yes BLS ambulance 93 gets about 4-8 calls a day. While ALS ambulance 42 gets about 5-9 calls a day depending though.
@@patrickmcelwee8483 Yes. The entire Chicago area should start using the European sirens (hi-lo) because the EQ2B's are making it hard for people to get enough sleep.
I'm an EMT in training in Hagerstown Maryland and I noticed you have a Q-siren on an Ambulance which is weird because over here only our Fire Rigs have them. But we aren't a Fire rescue so maybe thats why.
They're Electronic Q sirens. All Chicago FD units, even the chief cars, have them as of 2004-2005 ish. The Squads are from 2001 and haven't been replaced yet despite HEAVY use because they didn't make Snorkels anymore until this past year.
Most CFD Engines, Trucks and Ambulances are equipped with Federal Electronic Q sirens. None of our units still use mechanicals but a few rigs do have Non Q electronics. Gotta love the Q run down digital or mechanical.
Google the history of Chicago because Chicago was at one point was a maritime port for the great lake region so the green light would represents green buroy on the right side of a channel and red on the left side of the channel
a former cfd chief started the tradition of green(Port), red (Starboard) lights on the trucks because he was a nautical buff and it tells you left or right on a fire truck or a ship.
Watch fire dept chronicles’ video on interviewing and tips for beginners, as well as if you live in the suburbs, or in a small town, try to volunteer or become a junior firefighter if they have a program for it
Not required just a tradition that is fading. A foremr commissioner was a boating enthusiasts and like the maritime red/green signaling for port and starboard it was adopted at firehouses and on the rigs. Our newer rigs no longer come with the green lights as they are replaced by the more universal red/blue emergency response lighting used in Illinois
Just noticed in this video there's a hotel across from the station. Good luck getting any sleep. This house is busy. Seems like a traffic signal just before the station to turn red & the one at the intersection to go green when they are departing would be very helpful. I don't like to see FFs step out in traffic for this purpose. Too many guys have been hurt & killed in car/pedestrian crashes.
great catches and video of this fire department responses and returns

My best friend ever is the ambulance 42
Best friend ever

I've been fortunate enough to have witnessed some of these units respond, during a few trips to downtown. An awesome sight!

I like watching Chicago fire department videos
Reminds me oh Honolulu Fire at all hours of the night..
DARN! I must be getting blind. I never even noticed that. Well, the old blinkers just are not what they used to be. Thanks for waking me up! LOL!
Chicago Fire department truck 3 old I love it the new brand Chicago Fire department truck 3 new
Fun fact about squad 1. Both trucks always run together no matter what. One never goes without the other.
Code 3 productions What is the appliance that follows behind squad? In England we call it an ALP, what is it in Chicago?
Blackwall Studios it's squad 1A. It's the second part of squad one. Both the first and second truck make up squad 1
Is this is the same for all fire houses and squad units? Or can you sometimes get a second part of squad without the first squad unit? Thanks for the reply, regards from UK 🇬🇧
Blackwall Studios only for squads. You can't have a squad unit without the two trucks haha

From 2021 those squads rigs have been replaced by two rosenbauers
People why run the risk of getting flattened by a fire truck? If you see the lights are flashing, just stay where you are
Im obsessed with squad 1s response
Talk about a busy house, great video!
I say squad one is the king of the streets of Chicago
Love them Irish green lights!
Notice these girls at 1:10, all three holding their ears, because they thought it's too loud!
damn! you beat me to it.
Be better that instead of having a siren, that they changed it to;

Saturday August 24, 2013 about 9:00 p.m. until about midnight.
firetrucklover1- to Answer your question yes BLS ambulance 93 gets about 4-8 calls a day. While ALS ambulance 42 gets about 5-9 calls a day depending though.
Don’t tell me the fire at night at 9:00pm fire alarm goes off right now in Chicago public school
1:37 command van 271 went as well, not to mention
That Ambulance That Was First Had The Rescue 1 FDNY Siren!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's called a eq2b and most om fdny trucks have it as do most of the Chicago trucks
@@patrickmcelwee8483 Yes. The entire Chicago area should start using the European sirens (hi-lo) because the EQ2B's are making it hard for people to get enough sleep.
Awesome catch!
That's why i love my city
That little ladder reminds me of a matchbox truck
you are good best friend i always love you fire department
I'm an EMT in training in Hagerstown Maryland and I noticed you have a Q-siren on an Ambulance which is weird because over here only our Fire Rigs have them. But we aren't a Fire rescue so maybe thats why.
Try 1950's -- early '60's, almost everybody had the early Q's and whatnot.
They're Electronic Q sirens. All Chicago FD units, even the chief cars, have them as of 2004-2005 ish. The Squads are from 2001 and haven't been replaced yet despite HEAVY use because they didn't make Snorkels anymore until this past year.

And at 5:35 the ff helping back truck 3 up into the garage I met while I was visiting at that station
Omg who else kept repeating 1:05
But that's in the one with the Truck 6 video
Nice job!
thanks
How about Googling why CFD has green lights, so many people asking this question
ChicagoScanner Green lights at least where I am mean medical unit/medical call
Google the history of Chicago because Chicago was at one point was a maritime port for the great lake region so the green light would represents green buroy on the right side of a channel and red on the left side of the channel
a former cfd chief started the tradition of green(Port), red (Starboard) lights on the trucks because he was a nautical buff and it tells you left or right on a fire truck or a ship.
Cool. IT'S RARE!!!!!! EQ2B BATTALIONS!!!!!!!!!!
How many calls combine does this station gets during a 24hr shift?
1:07
Props to CFD but a firetruck just isn't a firetruck without a Q2B. Just one person's opinion....
I support you! lol
Mark Tarbis dRRyu
Mark Tarbis I agree I hate that electric garbage
We know what you mean!
what's the big ambulance used for?
Thats a command center
I want to be chicago fire fighter when im older. Any tips!!
Watch fire dept chronicles’ video on interviewing and tips for beginners, as well as if you live in the suburbs, or in a small town, try to volunteer or become a junior firefighter if they have a program for it
someone know what is the make of the backup alrm on squad 1a !!!! i really need to know
Why is there a squad 1 and a squad 1A?
chicago squads are made up of 2 pieces, Squad 1 is a big tool box on wheels and Squad !A is the aerial.
Great ahot like all trucks
Is this their main Station?
what was the song called at the end?
Why is CFD required to have green lights flashing?
The fire commissioner back when CFD became motorized adopted the nautical tradition of red and green lights on boats to the rigs. It stuck.
Nice video :)
Don't get why the ambulance has a electrontic q but the squad units don't
Squad was purchased in 2000, just before the city started w/ the EQ in '02
Who else watched 5:25 a few times?
why there are green light bars on this trucks ?
Just noticed in this video there's a hotel across from the station. Good luck getting any sleep. This house is busy. Seems like a traffic signal just before the station to turn red & the one at the intersection to go green when they are departing would be very helpful. I don't like to see FFs step out in traffic for this purpose. Too many guys have been hurt & killed in car/pedestrian crashes.
Chicago dies not use electronically controlled priority traffic signals A study showed they would cause more harm than good.
what's the date that this was filmed on?
What is the truck behind squad 1?
Its second piece
Is this the busiest station in the city?
According to the stats I could find, the firehouse of Engine 101 is the busiest
Which calls they are going
Is that an ambo with a q? YES
turn on loudest EQ2B siren maunel
Cool
Loudest loudest loudest loudest fastest ever super fast don’t crash
Nice!! 8-)
WTH? WHY THERE'S A BATTALION WITH AN EQ2B?
Since 2002, CFD has gone with EQ2B for all vehicles including battalions.
ALL Battalion buggys have electronic Q's
The two fire trucks behind ur really really really really really really really really loud
Help them please
Chicago sure has some odd looking boxy apparatus. Sort of on the ugly side.
Not sure about that but from 5:17 on...the view was pretty heavenly!
Loudest loudest loudest loudest loudest air horn bqq fire
0:36; guy walking past station
can i get across before the firetruck rolls out?...hmmm......
0:41 YAY!!I BEAT THE TRUCK!!!:D...BAAAHAHHHAHHAHHHHHAAAA!
