I revisited this video. I learned to love this compressor over the last few weeks. It took a certain (long) time to dig it and now I don't want to miss it on the arsenal. I think it will still surprise me due to the huge variety of different tones and dynamic movement it provides. Yeah, gain matching is not the easiest thing to do here :) I think it's an amazing sculpting tool. Softube did an amazing work on this, at least imo. Cheers
Just wanted to say your work in this video sold me on this compressor. I don't usually care for the music you feature during Mixing with Mike sorry to say. This song however came to life more than any other I've seen you work with and by the time it was over I was loving it even though I wasn't fond of it at the beginning. I always appreciate your knowledge Mike, Thank You. GERMANIUM!
GREAT REVIEW plus MANY THANKS to you : you made me discover this really good band ROACH GIRL ! I've just bought their album on iTunes Store . Great songs, great voice !
very cool to hear your excitement about this. i'm surprised that you never used the physical unit since it seems you've used everything! haha. i will be adding this to my arsenal (because of your review!) when it drops below 200
I really want to love this compressor but like you said, it's so hard to manage, I find it very unwieldy and difficult to tame. I add it to stuff, then always end up removing it later for one reason or another. Are there any mix classes you've done where you use this extensively?
Its like it just starts to get really fun with the input, drive, and feedback knobs cranked to the right and output cranked to the left. Looks like room for gain structure updates?
I did when it first came out and couldn't seem to wrap my head around it. I think it's worth a revisit though as these somewhat quirky designs often provide a unique sound.
It's weird, I'm not wrapping my ears around what it's doing too well. The other two Chandler plugins are go-tos are for me, so I'm sure it'll click sooner or later
Its cool...its just to boxy....to rough...I right Pop, Funck Tech..../ basically Moderns 80s BritPop....it just ruins the character of the genra....but for Rock, R&B or County I can see this being Spot on.....
Not really. You just have to know how to apply it. I do pop and edm as well as trap and it works great. It adds body and density to my tracks. Run it in clean mode and don't push the drive and feedback

It's a FET compressor but use the Diodes as a resistance element to change the knee and color, so actual GR is handled with a FET.
Ah yes, that explains the distortion characteristic too!
Thank you for going in depth with this plugin. Such a BEAST of a plugin
I've been using it for a day now and it's just a gorgeous tone sculpting beauty!
Indeed!
add me bro, @king_Ech lets link
This thing sounds fantastic. Wow. It just brings so much life and tone. Thanks for another great video, Mike!

Best reviews on the internet. Thanks Mike!
Omfg...
It might very well be the best compressor emulation i've heard! And the versatility of it... what a scary unit!

*update just demo'ed it for several hours and i think i'm in love. not sure though but i think i am. haha
sounds good but i really think there needs to be more room downwards on the gain compensation

I would love it if you started doing UAD LUNA tutorials I would definitely buy your course. :)
I have been considering this. Wish I could get my hands on a copy prior to official release.
Michael White fingers crossed
THIS compressor rocks !
Excellent review. I'd be interested to know how it competes with the Zener model from DMG audio, which is an excellent emulation as well. Cheers
it sounds much better cause it costs almost 3x more . Just kidding
@@saardean4481 haha. The imagination is strong within us ;)

There are so many analog compressor emulations right now. What are your favourite 3? Sonically wise
Wow, that's a tough one. There are so many good ones out there.
@@mixingwithmike name 3?
Wow!

That thing has some serious mojo
Yeah ... what he said ...
"Still doesn't sound as good". "Does it even need to anymore?".
