Nice one Matt, thank you for sharing your talents with us all.
I think this would be great as a centre piece for Christmas dessert with some plastic skaters penguins or whatevers etc and wee sweeties scattered all over it.
Hope you're doing good God bless xx Jean from Scotland.
Since I was a kid I used to make this recipe I think in the seventies and we used to enjoy this recipe with my friends (Childhood memories are beautiful) and this recipe here in Baghdad is called (Masasa) thank you so much
I remember making this as a kid! It’s so good! I remember watching Breaking Bad and how they cook. I was like “They’re breaking that glass like sugar glass!” Mind blowing. I guess the ones they cook in the show are for adults lol. Instead of a sugar high they well.. Still get a high 😂 Just the one that makes you float! At least metaphorically speaking.
hahaha awesome!! Yeah Breaking Bad is one of my all time favorite shows!
Amazing, thanx you..O chino its gonna work for making a Aragonés galas yo desplace the use oferta isomalt
If you add flavors to this recipe, is this how Jolly Ranchers are made; Or are there more ingredients/more to the process?
Very similar to how jolly ranchers are made, just a few different ingredients but the idea is the same.
I am interested in using this as a structural building material for its transparency and strength. Can you give any tips on reducing britleness and shatter risk. Thinking along the lines of a very clear transparent toffee that i want to seal both sides as a final coat with clear fibreglass resin elininating the matt.
Hi there, I am not a structural engineer to is it is hard to say. It is sugar glass, the thinner you make it the more brittle it will be the thicker you make it the stronger it will be, however it won't be as clear. You would just have to experiment with it. Good luck!
2:39 AM AUGUST 30, 2022 ; WHAT IS SUGAR GLASS , WHERE DO USED WATER SUGAR, ANYWAYS THANKS FOR SHARING THIS , NOW I KNEW IT THAT THERES A SUGAR GLASS. WHAT IS SUGAR GLASS FOR . THAT'S GREAT
It is a type of hard candy. People use it for props, decorating cakes, etc.

Is there any way to get specific shapes? Like using a silicone mold And does the cream of tartar make a difference if added in?
I’m making my son a Thomas and friends cake and he wanted a pond on it.
Yes you can use a silicone mold for specific shapes. The cream of tartar just helps to stabilize the sugar, but isn't necessary.
At what temperature do I start folding it to get a shape before it gets hard like glass?
Just until you can touch it and pull it, and most people use sugar lamps when pulling sugar because it cools quickly from there
Can you use liquid glucose or golden syrup
I believe those are similar to corn syrup so you will just have to try it. We don't have that here in the States we just have corn syrup.
I followed the steps but my sugar glass isn’t hardening it’s been sitting for 3 hours and is like a gummy material any tips or know what I did wrong?
did you use a thermometer? It sounds like you did not heat it up to the proper temp. It needs to be heated to 290 to 300F.
Does maple syrup work as a substitute?
You can try it. Or just leave it out. Technically you can make it with just sugar and water.
i was about to make a comment about how if you add blue food cloring it looks like whalta whites best recipe but saw the comments and decided not to :/
Yes it does! Breaking Bad fans will definitely appreciate this haha. That is one of my favorite shows by the way. I even dressed up as Walter White for Halloween one year.
what is Tartar? Do you mean Baking powder?
No cream of tartar (potassium bitartrate) is different than baking powder. Although there is cream of tarter in baking powder. Baking powder is made up of cream of tartar, baking soda, and usually something like cornstarch. If you don't have any, just leave it out.
Food color
Yes food coloring can be used that is how I got the blue color.
What does one do with this? …….Aside from helping to support the dental population that is 😏
Most people will use it as decoration on top of cakes, like a Frozen cake, or use red food coloring and make a halloween cake, etc.
Another cool video! It’s great that you share all these creative techniques! Thank you so much
Thank you!! And you are very welcome!
