  • Watch how one of the most challenging bridge construction was done in Bangladesh.
The Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge is a 4.8 kilometre long bridge connecting the Western part of Bangladesh with the Eastern part. Before the construction of the bridge, these two parts of Bangladesh was physically divided by the Brahmaputra river(locally known as Jamuna).
The Jamuna River is "braided" in nature having non-permanent channels with islands locally known as "char" in between them. During high flood seasons, the river have a width varying from 12-16 kilometres. The unstable nature of the river requirement of river training in a huge scale. About half of the total construction cost was only required for river training purpose only.

Jamuna Bridge is our "Northern Bangladeshi's" lifeline...
I never realized the struggle people faced before building this bridge, I was little when it was built. My father told me about the story...
This documentary gave me goosebumps 🔥

Padma Bridge also deserves a similar documentary. While Bangladeshi bridges may not sound extraordinary by their lengths, the sheer amount of work that goes behind taming our mightly rivers makes them some of the hardest engineering achievements in the world.

Hopefully, there will be one! Government has allocated separate budget for that. But quality of the documentary is a concern.
