And there lies the actual reason at 3:10. It's a quick cash grab, and that's it. Im surprised they even mentioned the truth. The stadium does host junior sport im fairly certain, not just the panthers nrl team
Before there was the 'voice referendum', WA had introduced laws giving Aboriginal groups much more rights over land-use (now repealed, you'll see why) after Rio Tinto blew up that sacred site. For a few months, competing Aboriginal groups would try to hold up every possible thing until they got money out of it. The opening of the new extension of the freeway north of Perth had to be delayed because two different Aboriginal groups were claiming it was their land so only they could do the welcome-to-country and should receive any payments. Even at the opening day, the two groups turned up and got into a fight. The members of both groups looked like they'd never held down a job or had a sober day in years. There was also a big tree planting event, and because of competing claims not giving permission, the whole program had to be scrapped and the seedlings never made it into the ground. The laws were introduced so hurriedly that the government just had not considered the implications. Farmers couldn't even dig deeper than 50cm because that was 'aboriginal heritage' down there. The laws were swiftly repealed and this was one of the main reasons why WA leaned so heavily against the voice referendum.
Two groups of Aboriginals go the the Hanson Quarry at Red Hill with numbers at least 20 per group and extort money from the company because there are two rocks that are near the quarry itself, I believe they were getting between $800 to $1000 per head, give you one guess which family is involved with one of the groups.
I'm sure they can make up some BS 'Dreamtime' Story & because for thousands of years they had no written language, no semblance of property rights, or rule of Law, the Wokies in Government will bend the knee
No it wouldn't have hahaha. You clearly have no idea how government works or how that would have worked but I don't blame you since there was a ridiculous amount of misinformation from both sides since all politicians do is lie and trash each other
The voice would not have done this lol yes this appeal is stupid but all the voice would do would enshrine an ADVISORY indigenous body to aide the govt on indigenous matters. And the only reason it would be put in the constitution was so that a Govt couldn’t dissolve the body whenever it felt like, as it had in the past 5 times

Let me get this straight- Parramatta Stadium which at the later stages of its life had just over 20k capacity and was torn down & rebuilt at 30k capacity for $300m. Now this Penrith stadium is just being renovated for the same price??? Makes no sense & yes I get there would be inflationary adjustments but surely the cost for a Reno is not that much. As for these so called “claims” we already said “NO”
I sympathise with the Aboriginal land movement, if improved connection to culture is what's needed for young people then they should have the sites, but there's clearly nothing left in this area (at least to my eyes) that can be used for this purpose, and it's just terrible PR
Yeah as much as I respect Aboriginal culture and their history with the land, it feels a bit late to be making this kind of appeal. That land has been occupied for decades now and surely it’s cultural significance would have faded substantially? I’m all for them bearing claim to land that is still being used today for cultural practices but this is different. Have they been as vocal about it being culturally significant land in the past? If not, why has it taken them so long to speak up? Edit: typo.
So it’s of cultural significance until a settlement is reached and magically the cultural significance goes away… I’m a believer that cultural areas for indigenous communities need to be recognised and preserved but on this one I call B.S..
@jordanklingsporn763 jokes on you, im part indigenous. 250000 years, before cook 😂😂 Guess what, people weren't doing this prior to 2015. Was everyone disrespectful then?
Just give us some money and we’ll forget all about the land claim…. classic.
The problem is though, that Money will always never be enough

Apparently a giant talking panther was seen on these lands 150,000 years ago!! It speaks only to aboriginal people 😂😅😢😮
So it's sacred land but for a "slice of the pie" they'll just forget about it. Aboriginals are always wanting a hand out. So embarrassing
Its amazing what the black fella will do for money mate, it happens all of the time.
The tribes here in the USA are always pulling this shit, they’ll even claim land that wasn’t even their tribe’s sometimes.
Never miss a chance to make some $$$ do they!!
funny how they mostly claim land with high commercial value.. one might assume fiscal motivation on behalf of Aboriginals...
There is already a stadium there ffs hahaha. These scammers will never miss an opportunity to make a buck.

For the same reason they are paying for Leichhardt Oval
