Excellent capture.....appreciate the time and effort you have spent in documenting this. I'm sure this 5+ min video has taken innumerable hours, worth every bit. Thanks for sharing.
In tamilnadu my elders told us like a frog from sand will turn in to this bird during the north east monsoon(like a butterfly birth). Because if rained during night, you can see this bird on next morning. I also believed, this is a frog bird until I found it in internet😁. And now it's north east monsoon time here in TN. So now I can see this bird in my village. And it will leave TN at the mid of December. But , In past 15 years span I can surely say the number of birds are considerably reduced. Don't know why. It's possibly because of hunting. Because people said this bird is tasty one. And we call this bird as kaachil in Tamil.
Great👏This indian pitta has also called Navrangi as it contains 9 different colors. Very sensitive and innocent bird. It also nests in bushes on land. It cleans the way by clearing all sticks, leaves in its path. They visit our native village Puvvaladoruvu in Andhra Pradesh, India in summer. People are so cruel in our area, they capture these birds and cook.
Beautifully captured.
I have the same bird nesting in my garden these days. Wish had photographic skills and a camera to capture!!
