@@woodybear8298 no we lost to there kicker, there offense sucked today just like it has all season, our kicker left 6 points out there and the D played good enough to win Besides the kicker Kelly had a terrible game calling plays and Howard had his worst game.
@@woodybear8298 yeah as a Michigan fan warrens qb play is why we’re 7 and 5 he’s terrible Harbaugh leaving so late cost us someone from portal . If you guys would of passed to your great receivers in stead of running at our strengths is mind boggling
They took advantage of their short field opportunity after the INT, at the two, their only TD. Our opportunity run it up the gut and miss a FG. That was the crux of the game. They dared us to throw, and we ran up the gut, their strength as stated not to do by Kirk and Nevada all week.
They didn't need to win the rushing battle. Ohio State should have thrown the ball a lot more. Running on 3rd and 8 was bad enough, then later in the game on 3rd and 10? What can anyone say? Mickey Mouse offense. Scared play calling.
Couldn't agree more....why do you say we were out toughed....we couldn't really run against Nebraska or Indiana for that manner....our strength was passing and we simply were afraid to....
They had 234 yards...and you say they played great...really.....this was a joke of a team.....coaching lost this game and it was the same thing last year......
We passed in the flat to Henderson once...very successful. We ran the option to the outside and pitched to Henderson...ONCE...very successful. Never went back to either one.....just Metalf up the middle over and over. Very odd...almost like they didn't want to win.
@@joelbrooks3198 I swear it was rigged by Kelly- not by Day. Kelly has a history of team crushing toxicity, has less than a year of loyalty, holds the keys to undermine Day's hot seat, may have been given hush money by a clearly scUM contingent suddenly opening up the big time wallets for HS recruits...nevermind that Alford took all his intel up north. Its suspicious.
@@jonathanjacobs1525 the option also lead to Howard getting annihilated so I do believe they tried to keep it simple after that play happened in terms of the option and putting Howard in a bad spot
@@dondinho8115 OK...but they still could have attacked the perimeter with sweeps screen passes end arounds etc, with Henderson Judkins Egbuka JJ etc since we were successful the few times we tried it on the outside...
Been a fan for 40 years. This is the darkest day in osu history. Chip Kelly stealing a paycheck. Day’s mentality is to play for field goals even though his kicker always sucks.
When teams try to shorten the game you have to go tempo and use some timeouts in the first half to gain a few offense plays. You can't run a ball control offense to counter it.
Im 38. Remember the end of the Cooper years. My Dad was a graduate from The Ohio State. One Day me and my friend went to the basement in a Ohio State bowl game during the end of the Cooper era. My friend laughed real hard. Ohio State lost again he said. My Dad turn around and told him to get the fuc$ outta of his house. Then Jim Tressel and his guys turned it around. Go Bucks!
This game was inexcusable no excuses. We played like shit. Excuse my language. Ohio State is by far the better team all the way around the board they just choked no excuses let’s go win a national championship to save our season and our fans🎉
A team doesn't have to win the running game to win the game--but you should at least have one. The game plan came out of a saloon in Dodge City, circa 1888. Day needs to sit down and do some serious introspection--Sometimes one has to realize the position they've been gifted is out of their league.
This was the worst performance as an offense they’ve had ALL SEASON!!! Chip was HORRIBLE!!! Don’t make the mistakes with the ball, miss easy field goals they win the game!!! WHY??? Why in the hell did they go away from passing down field??? Just insane and I’m speechless
You don’t need to be creative, just don’t try to run it up the middle when you have 3 O-line starters out. Inexcusable by Chip Kelly. Running was not the key to winning when we’re injured.
They have been criminal in not getting him the ball enough all season. He needs 10 targets a game. He's our best receiver and he didn't even have 1,000 yards during the regular season. He should easily have over 1,300. Criminal.
Lucky to beat Nebraska earlier in the year. That was the first warning shot of what could happen if we d*icked around and played poorly a big part of the game. Obviously nothing changed in the biggest game of the year and it caught up with them..
Even Joel Klatt and Gus Johnson knew to attack the edge, pass the rock around the yard, and run up tempo. When the Buckeye Scoop duo, the TV announcers and a Bucknut Super Fan watching from Richlands, NC watching from his recliner can call a better offensive game it is absolutely time for Day and Kelly go!
I totally miss the special teams we had with Tressel. It always seemed we got a field goal when we should. We always had punters that pinned the opponent back. We would control the field position which was demoralization for the opponent. In November its even more.
Our last drive of the first half was amazing. They couldn't stop us when we were constantly throwing the ball. We never called plays like that drive again. Instead we did everything that didn't work
This game didn’t come close to the way I expected, WAY TO MANY MISTAKES!!! Bad play calling and momentum of the game, then go away from throwing down field when you’re having success? Why in hell didn’t they go tempo wearing their defense down??? Just crazy BS, Chip had a really bad performance!!! This has to stop
Going into this season the Offensive Line was the question mark. Fast forward, OSU has had 2 injuries knocking Seth McLaughlin (center) and Josh Simmons (Left tackle/blind side) out of the lineup some weeks ago and this is a big deal. Hinzeman has had to play center. This has required reshuffling & obviously line was not the same. Day, Kelly should have known running A gap on the Michigan tackles was gonna be tough - real tough. It was. They ran it again, and again, and again w little to no success getting behind the sticks, putting pressure on your QB. OSU couldn't run the ball and UM knew they couldn't run the ball. If our field goal kicker had made that short field goal...different story. I think there were some other plays & plans they could have gone to.
The offensive line is flat out SOFT!. They have been for 3 or 4 years now. They got abused all season and even more so, today! That is on the strength coach, offensive line coach and head coach! Ryan Day teams are SOFT!.
I have heard and read that the job of the offensive coordinator is to put your best players on their weakest players. Buckeyes did just the opposite yesterday, continually trying to beat their best players (the interior defensive linemen) with our weakest players ( our shuffled up interior offensive line)....mind boggling to have all of that perimeter talent and squander it after you've established the interior run game isn't working.
Heres the plan. Easy fix. Jim Tressel is given a contract for one thing only. One game a year he is the coach again while Ryan Day one game a year is the waterboy or selling nachos.
Tough game Scoop Family Chat 💬 was unreal today Was driving back from the Shoe Hard to see everyone who was on chat was out of control crazy fast 💨 glad you all were there Love you Scoop Family🫶❤ The regular dedicated people know who I mean 👊🍨🖖🏻🦈🦅 Go Buckeyes!!Forever a Buckeye!! We fire Day and we lose players and recruits...so what? We need a new culture and. Dont need the players Day has recruited. 5 stars dont mean a thing if their soft with a soft coach. I cant defend him anymore.
There was only one inept person for Ohio State in the entire stadium and that was the playcaller. The only acceptable next step is Ryan hands in his resignation tomorrow.
If they fire Day Gruden or Vrabel I don't want some college coach. And Hartline is too buddy buddy with the players to be head coach. Gruden wants back in coaching and is a QB guru. Day has to win it all to save his job and things will probably get worse before they get better if they fire Day
1:27:37 We should have let them score a TD right away on the 1st down play with 1:55 to go. Here's why. We would have had 1:50 or so left on the clock AND 2 timeouts. The timeouts would have allowed us to work the middle of the field. Instead, we got the ball back, down by 3, with only 45 seconds left, and no timeouts, which limits the play calling to sideline routes and/or every play had to result in a first down. Plus, you're now depending on the same UNRELIABLE CRAPPY KICKER to make a game tying FG - which means even if we had gotten the ball to around the Michigan 30 yard line, he still would have likely shanked the 47 yard kick. I'd rather be down a TD and have 2 timeouts with 1:50 to go, and try to tie or win with a TD and an extra point or a 2 point conversion. It was another in what has been a very bad line of decisions by Ryan Day.
Why so little misdirection when they did run? Why keep running up the middle again when it did not work? Why no adjustments? Almost every first down was a run and most second downs were runs? Why no passing on first downs? When passing was working, they stopped passing…why? Pass defense is Michigan’s weakness. Why not pass? Look what Indiana did against them passing? Do we not learn from other teams playing them? Lots of questions. Poor game plan, poor play calling, poor execution and poor coaching. The defense played well for the most part but the offense was pitiful. If they doubled Smith all the time, doesn’t that leave other receivers single covered? Really disappointing game.
There is only one reason you play offense like you did today: because you are playing scared. Playing not to get injured. I felt confident after the oregon loss that day could turn this around. Up until this week he was doing just that. And then chip kelly didnt run a chip kellg offense. No JJ targets in the second half. No misdirection to put running backs in good positions. No tempo to grind a weak Michigan secondary. Ryan decided early in the week how he wanted this game to be played, flawed as it was, and seeing it unfold in front of him wasnt enough to get him to change. Ive always given ryan credit for winning the games hes supposed to win, and its not just a michigan thing. You cant play any B1G team with an offensive performance this anemic. It just hurts a lot worse that it was THE game. And the craziest part was that we are in the playoffs, likely with a home game in the first round. If oregon beats penn state as hard as im expecting them to, then the seeding i have is: 1. Oregon 2. Texas 3. SMU 4. Boise State 5. Notre Dame 6. Georgia 7. Ohio state 8. Penn state 9. Tennessee 10. Miami 11. Indiana 12. Arizona State You could flip osu and psu, and just remove miami entirely, move indy up to 10 and add alabama to 11. But no matter how im trying to draw this up, OSU gets a home to start the 1st round. Take the month off, retrain will howard, get the OLine coached up, and beat the offensive scheme to a pulp. Thats the only way we still stand a chance at winning a playoff. Its not impossible, it's not like the penn state, indiana, and oregon games didn't happen simply because of what happened today. But now we've seen every starter and every coordinator at their worst. If they cant improve with a month to still practice and play for a national championship, fire ryan, fire chip, and fire frye
I've complained about the rah rah BS before. F a playoff run. Fa Natty. None of it matters with an embarrassing loss to a crap team from that school up north. They were horrible this year, and Day's team still managed to blow it. The kicker didn't lose this game. Playcalling and a lack of attitude on offense lost this game. That's on the coaches. There is only one remedy for this. Day has to go, and it has to be immediate. Day doesn't get it. We need an OHIO coach that gets it.
Frankly, it seems like Kelly intentionally tanked the game. W/ scUM suddenly throwing around 200m to players what's to say they didnt slide CK 10m to throw the game? Running up the middle w/ Alford having divulged all the intel he had. There is no way that CK thought professionally that the best offensive game plan was to try and run right at scUM's interior instead of moving the ball through the effective pass game against their depleted secondary. Third and long runs between the tackles multiple times??? Why???
No Michigan homer predicted the atrocious play calling. The coaches failed them. I said this at the start of 2023 and the Indiana game. Ryan Day has a strategy problem.
Ryan Day has to go after this incomprehensible and unfathomable loss! Chip Kelly, most creative and imaginative offense mind in college football history (Saban and Meyer), really? Where was he; must have been abducted by aliens.
I mean you talk about the season is not over but yet at the same time how can you trust this coaching staff specifically day and Kelly to do anything in the playoffs? They’ve been totally inconsistent at best. I thought Chip was trying to sabotage this team against Nebraska, choosing not to throw the ball until we were down in the fourth with no other option. We played what I thought was a very good and inspired game against Penn State, despite losing the turnover battle. Came out and beat the brakes off of an Indiana team that had already beaten Michigan. Then today, despite having a clear advantage on the perimeter, it’s basically the same game plan as Nebraska, which was ineffective. On top of it, Will Howard was either rattled to his core after his second interception or he was legitimately concussed because something was very off with him. He was very hesitant, indecisive and flat out, scared to throw the ball. Why on earth did Day stick with him when I could see it myself on my TV screen that he was completely ineffective. I mean, we’ve all seen other coaches make QB changes during the game. Most notably when Nick Saban took out I think it was Jalen hurts for Tua in the natty and Bama ended up winning. I’ve never seen that kind of coaching from day. It’s like he doesn’t have the balls to make a substitution, even if it gives us a better chance to win the game. This game totally defied logic and it’s clear regardless of the consequences. We need a legitimate coach to come in and rebuild this culture.
From an offensive standpoint, it reminded me of the game against Clemson in 2016. We couldn't run the ball (even against a light box), so Michigan dropped 7 and played zone. The zones gave Howard cloudy looks, forcing him to throw into tight windows, and after throwing 2 interceptions, Howard didn't want to risk throwing another. The pressure up front didn't help either because Howard didn't always have a clean pocket. Part of the problem is that Howard can't throw the deep ball, which is the same thing that hurt JT Barrett. It allows the zones to compress vertically into a smaller portion of the field when there is no concern of a deep threat. We could have run Howard more, called some RPOs and speed option (to get the ball on the edge), but after Howard took the hit, that erased a lot of those calls from Day's and Kelly's minds. They didn't want to risk Howard getting hit again. That's exactly why you need to have a functioning package of plays designed for the backup QB and use them. You make a great point about not playing backups and having a plan B, especially at QB. It's a big problem with Ryan Day. You take away his primary stuff and he has nothing else to fall back on in reserve. He should have had a backup QB come in and run some plays, maybe throw some deep passes, or use that threat of the deep ball as a decoy, but that's apparently too outside the box for Day/Kelly to think of and actually implement. It's frustrating as hell.
@ I mean, how is it that I came to the realization that Will Howard was obviously mentally checked out and yet the coaches couldn’t see that? I’d have to go back and watch the game, but I think it was pretty evident at some point in the third quarter. It makes no sense. I mean, if you’re gonna go down at least go down with somebody in that moment that gives you a better chance to win the game. Idc if Devon Brown is the back up the fact is he would’ve been coming in off the bench not feeling the pressure of already having thrown 2 int’s. Not to mention he didn’t get drilled by I think it was a CB when Howard got knocked out of the game. What part that played in Howard’s demise we will probably never know. I mean please tell me you saw it sometime in the third quarter sometime after that 2nd int that Will Howard was just a completely different ineffective QB. Why on God’s green earth did the coaching staff not make a change at QB? I don’t think anything proves my point more so than the final drive when we knew we were gonna lose Michigan kicks the ball to us after their FG and we don’t even make a first down. I mean clearly clearly something was going on with Howard! I mean, we had zero to lose. We already knew we couldn’t kick a field goal so there was probably no field goal range lol it was like TD or nothing and yet he didn’t want to throw the ball. I mean, I’ve been very appreciative of Howard this year I think for the most part he’s been a good QB for us. However, in the second half yesterday at some point, it was obvious to me watching from home there was something very off with him. I mean for multiple reasons the game should’ve never come down to that. I don’t think the game should’ve even been close. The fact is, it was blame it on the coaching staff whatever but then you magnify the fact that you are incompetent by continuing to keep him in the game. There’s just no way this game will ever make sense unless one day it comes out that Ryan Day and Chip Kelly bet on Michigan to win.
Chip Kelly’s head coaching stats 81-41 (college) 28-35 (NFL) Urban’s NCAA: 187-32 (.854) Bowls: 12-3 (.800) 3 National Championships Jim Tressel 229-79-2 Bowls 5-4 Tournaments 23-6 (NCAA D-I-AA playoffs) Day Overall 66-10 Bowls 2-4 Tournaments 1-3 (CFP) Chip may well be great at scheming and designing plays coach, but a head coach he is not. Others like Urban, etc may have studied and went to learn things from him, but they were head coach material and he’s not. Neither is Day. Do we expect the student to be that much better than his teacher?
In regards to the kicking game, it’s just inconceivable that day would not have made that more of a priority especially when you consider it most likely cost us a natty in 2022. Since that time, the problem has obviously not been fixed and to top it off we have a punter who kicks in about 35 yards give or take but either way it’s just ridiculous!
I have been watching these games for a very long time! When JT, and UM came onboard as coaches, the overwhelming theme at the start of both tenures was the CHANGE IN ATTITUDE! Kirk talks about it often, and mentioned it again here today. Our OLine needs to be made up of SOBs! You need the killer mentality that we are no longer seeing upfront! It is a game of WILL, the WILL TO WIN! I am not seeing this in our offensive line! We are getting beaten up each, and every year! Forget the 4-5 stars, recruit, AND develop tough kids. When Lou Holtz who bleeds for us, mentioned it last year everyone got angry. The truth hurts. I don’t know where we go from here, but no matter what changes are made, unless we put absolute MONSTERS upfront, it will be Groundhog Day each, and every year!!! Lastly, to win you must play to your strengths!
Day doesn't listen to criticism, he reacts hurt. Build the offensive line and develop tough running backs. I wonder what Day's workouts are like? my guess is pretty leisurely.
Needed to sleep it off a few hours before I commented. Born a Buckeye and will die loving this team win or lose. Talent vs. Toughness…think it’s clear what wins in this rivalry game. The last two years TTUN have won on the last drive of the game. They are in the trenches what we used to be. Tough, gritty, nasty, hungry. Until this or a coaching staff figures that out we will not swing this pendulum back in our favor. Up tempo was the only thing that worked at the end of the first half. This was a clear coaching failure. When TTUN can’t sub they fell apart and the bad part is this is a multiple year weakness for their defense. We missed it….again. Only way I see this coaching staff staying in tact past the 2025 season is by winning it all this year. My next coach would be Vrabel is the only one I see taking this team over and instilling toughness in the trenches. He has the NFL pedigree. Bring Fickel back from Wisconsin as the D coordinator. They lived it. They were born in Ohio. They get it.
Chip Kelly really let Ryan Day down Ryan counted on Chip to get this done and let him be the CEO. Chip should’ve come out and address the media for the bad offensive game. Jim Knowles would have come out and address the media if the defense had played bad. But not Chip……
It surprises me how stunned everyone is. Urban said it, whoever wins the trenches wins the game. Buckeyes like their WR's, Wolverines like their big men.
24:12 Kirk calls out OSU players for not being Sith enough. In all seriousness, you’re right I think, IMHO. But maybe you’re more right talking about OSU’s offensive play calling being dumb. Thanks for the credit to Michigan for playing hard. We want better playcalling on O too. Never figured out how to use Donovan Edwards correctly, or RPO, or presnap motion, or even play-action pass.
Livid and gonna be livid for awhile. Theres no excuse for this and excusing day for the last three years is in question now. I don’t think playoffs mean as much because the team up north will be like well we beat them. Ryan day is coaching for his job in the playoffs.
Those Michigan defenders weren't super men. I grew up watching the Woodie bucks. What would Bob Vogel or Jim Parker done with 55 and his buddie? Ever seen a defensive tackle on roller skates? the truth is Day doesn't understand toughness in the trenches and mid-western weather. Five star receivers don't shine when its 22 degrees and windy, in fact, they don't usually shine on teams that can't run.
Some people are not head coach material period. I’m not, I’m humble enough to admit it. I could be a great position coach. I might be a good coordinator since I basically ran my hs team’s defense as strong safety. But no way I’d make a head coach. You have to watch and deal with many moving parts everywhere.
The worst defeat in Ohio State history was the 1976 Rose Bowl. Ohio State was 11-0 having beat Michigan in Ann Arbor 21-14. The last time a Woody Hayes coached team beat Michigan. Ohio State was a unanimous #1 heading to Pasadena with the Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin. They played 8-2-1 UCLA a team Ohio State had beaten in the regular season 41-20. The Buckeyes were a 17 point favorite. UCLA won the Rose Bowl 23-10. A win would have given the Bucks a Nati. A team Woody Hayes said was his greatest team ever. 8:22
@ clueless? How facts are facts 4 straight losses to TUN. A gutless performance bye the staff , offense and special teams. D played great. There is no silver lining here. Period. Screw the playoffs if you cant beat the TUN.
@@Lothbrook66 I get it and understand. But the AD isn't going to fire him this year. Unless we get absolutely smoked in a playoff game, which is possible. Now, Day could resign and go the NFL route as an OC. But I just don't see the AD firing Day this year.
1. Be humble and ask Urban to come back. 2. Eddie Gorge move him back to Ohio from Tennessee Tech. 3. Two Ohio guys head coaching in the MAC 4. The Ohio guy coaching Indian
The genius of Day and Kelly disappeared under pressure. Day and Kelly don’t deserve their players. They don’t deserve their jobs either. I’m guessing that locker room is splintered after that fiasco.
Worst loss in Buckeye history by far. Worse than 1969 in Ann Arbor with Super Sophomores (Woody’s best team ever). Worse than Michigan State, Purdue, and Iowa under Urban Meyer. Ohio State defense (A- / too many key third downs given up). OSU offense (F) and special teams (H-). TCUN played without #1 offensive and defensive players (consider that). We were out-played, out-coached, out-muscled, out-executed, and out-roughed; basically out-everythinged! Ryan gets a pass on 2021 and 2022 for TCUN cheating, but Day you got worked and stomped in 2023 and 2024. Only path to redemption: make the 12 team playoff and win the Natty. If not, leave Ohio State, go the pros, and take Chip Kelly with you. If no Natty; no more Day and Kelly. Worst offensive game plan and offensive scheme ever! Whatever happened to tempo and having the best receiver room in America? I could have called a MUCH better game.
Day keeps making history in the wrong way. There are many Ohio State fans who say that bowl loss to Missouri was the most unprepared team and worst bowl performance in their lifetime. Now this 2024 regular season finale loss is arguably the worst loss in history. Day is totally responsible for two of the worst ever historical occurrences in Ohio State football history. There is no possible way after seeing both of those historic debacles that anyone with football knowledge can say Day is the best person to be the head coach at Ohio State. 1-4 ttun, 2-4 in bowls, zero national championships. A little known coach a few years ago was named Ohio State’s head coach-Jim Tressel. That worked out pretty well. Don’t say, but who would we get as a reason to do nothing. There’s a head coach in our conference that consistently does more with less and happens to be a Tressel disciple. Let’s see….knows the big ten, years of head coaching experience, high energy, motivator, does more with less. Call MN and schedule an interview. Or do nothing and 365 days from now 1-5 ttun, 5 bowl losses, zero national championships.
Ryan Day must go!!!! I don’t care who replaces him at this point. Tress and Urban did way more with less talent. There’s a couple Ohio guys in the MAC. There’s a couple NFL coaches from Ohio. Hell, get the great Buckeye who is coaching Tennessee Tech for Chrst sake. This game was easily a 21 point game in Ohio States favor and I’ll out line where it went wrong here. 1. Howard wasn’t coached up well enough. He forced it too many times and tried to be the hero one too many times. The play just before his first interception when they were on their own four yard line was an option play. The entire line and team pulled left pulling the defense with them. Juk went right and had nothing but green in front of him. If Howard would have chosen to hand it off Juk would have easily made the 40-50 yard mark if not ran it completely to the house for 96 yards. Instead Howard pulled it and kept it and ran straight into the strength of scUM, its core line. Then feeling pressure for a bad decision, he makes another and gets intercepted. Then Michigan scores. That’s 7 given to Michigan Ohio did not get. Then getting into the red zone twice in the third by largely passing and then really good runs in the gaps in the edges, burn up about five to six downs running straight up the middle. I think that would have worked by the middle of the fourth by doing what was working to get them in the red zone those two times. That left 14 points on the field. And frankly, that’s the 21 point spread that was projected. Three, let’s say they did piss poor play calling. Fine. They still could have won this game by getting last seasons best college field goal kicker from Miami Ohio who begged to come to Ohio State. Hell, they could have won by 6-9 points on two to three field goals alone with one being 50 yarder with that guy. Day lacks complete foresight in how to win big games down the stretch. Yes, he’s got the recruiting at an all time high for talent and that talent has gave him one of the best winning records. But if the moron would see further down and not rely on well we will have to learn from our mistakes mentality. He’d already have one natty, he’d be up 3-2 against scUM and well on his way to a second Natty. Ryan Day simply isn’t head coach material. It’s time Ohio State board and athletic department realize this and time for Day to realize this. And we keep talking Chip Kelly. Well, what exactly did Kelly ever do in college before he head coach led the NFL? Did he win a Natty? Did he win a Superbowl in the NFL? Did he even play for a superbowl? Kelly may be a great coach in scheming and such overall and has been creative. But he pissed it away yesterday. I can’t stand the heartbreak anymore. I’m not watching Ohio State again until Day is shown the door. Get our own Heisman Winnng Buckeye who is coaching Tennessee Tech now. I bet 100$ he can punch more and scUM in the mouth every year. Get the Buckeyes coaching one of the two MAC schools. Hell, get Indiana’s coach who’s a Buckeye. I bet he’d come home. Urban eventually did. And I would rather lose one nothing game to an unranked team early every year and beat the pants of scUzm, win the BIG conference and actually be competitive in the playoffs and only win a natty ever so often than this bull shet
Justin actually did a pretty good job this year developing the offense line, anytime you lose 2 of your best O linemen that’s difficult for any team!. I personally don’t like his inconsistent recruiting!!. Can’t miss on the difference makers
That's ryan days gay lover and best man in his wedding. You think he's going to get fired? Fg kickers should go into hiding! Ryan "cooper 2.0" needs to go
I don't think I have heard but our defense was super awesome and left it all on the field. They only gave up actually one field goal. the other 10 points was on the offense turnovers. Our coaches lost the game, terrible play calling playing to the Michigan strength and not to ours. Very strange....We are at least two time a better team. Will Howard played terrible as did the o line. But let's put that in the past, can't change it, but we can go forward and use our best tools and unite and play for each other. We must spread out the defense, wear their d-line down from rushing the quarterback all game. Perhaps do some option plays, traps, and quick slant passes and if only pass 5 or 6 yards, dinking and dunking it's great because it's a higher percentage of moving the chains. Then when you get their defense in playing short stuff you hit a deep pass. Our backs are great blockers and catch passes very good, need to use them more get them the ball fast and let them do their thing. This is the time we all stop the negative and support out team so they can go forward and win. After the season we can talk about the bad stuff. SUPPORT THE GUYS ON THE FIELD. VRABEL IS A SUPER OPTION.
If Ryan Day is fired, is there a “sleeper” like Jim Tressel out there to “take the whistle” OR a five-star Offensive Coordinator out there who is an up and comer or a diamond in the rough?
Surely missed having Graham Nicholson, the former Miami kicker who won the 2023 Lou Groza Award. Ohio State hit the two field goals -- both inside the 40 -- and Ohio State wins the game. Why turn away a high quality player who wants to join your program?
I love Ohio State Football team, but having the talent or top 5 star players in the country, Ryan Day and Chip Kelly should be fired. That's why Chip Kelly isn't a head coach on any college team or pro team Ryan Day is too conservative of a coach and should be a position coach. Too much Talent on that team and the play calling sucked today. The defense was the BOMB and the defense coach should be the head coach Jim Knowles.
He did win 2 top 5 games this year. I think he just can't beat Michigan. He has the Yipps and he needs to go after the season. The only thing that saves him is if he wins it all and their O-Line isn't good enough to hold up enough to make that happen.
I'm getting to the point where I think they will not be punished and if that's the case then can you blame them for doing it. They sucked and had no chance of beating us. Now, we are in that situation against them. I'm not sure we shouldn't cheat. If it turns the tables and gets us a National Championship and nothing happens. F it, just cheat Ryan Day. Anything beats this crap.
@stephaniechaffin1154 people always try to make Ohio State an example and cheating gets you nowhere, we are basically there. There was no reason to lose but sadly, they found the way to lose
Do we have any young men that played under Jim Tressel from Ohio that wants to be a head coach? If we do go after them. I want a pro style offense with some spread thrown in. I want somebody that understands the importance of special teams. I want a kicker and punter we can count on in November. I want to see the I formation in November sometimes where we just run it up arse.
What does Ryan Day have to do to beat TTUN and others? THROW THE DAMN BALL TO YOUR 3 NFL WIDE RECIEVERS JJ, EE and TATE. You can't run up the middle every play, get stopped every time and expect a different result that is called insanity.
Kirk you say that JJ and Downs will hit the transfer portal if Day is fired. Who’s to say they won’t hit it if OSU doesn’t fire him? If I was a player I wouldn’t want to play under a weak person. Also has JJ and Downs beat Michigan? Life will go on without them. 🤷♂️
We lost to a walk-on quarter-back that threw for 67 yards, and two interceptions. Think about that.
@@woodybear8298 no we lost to there kicker, there offense sucked today just like it has all season, our kicker left 6 points out there and the D played good enough to win Besides the kicker Kelly had a terrible game calling plays and Howard had his worst game.
@@user-dw9fc6ev7x6 points is nothing. We were favored by 20.
Pathetic
Playing not to lose is always a bad idea.
Day should have learned from the Georgia game not to have a solid kicker.
For no reason the plan was to just run the ball straight at their best players.
Completely agree with you Kirk- EVERYONE knew we needed to attack the perimeter, EXCEPT…the offensive playcaller.
It was the dumbest gameplan in the history of gameplans
We passed in the flat to Henderson once...very successful. We ran the option to the outside and pitched to Henderson...ONCE...very successful. Never went back to either one.....just Metalf up the middle over and over. Very odd...almost like they didn't want to win.
Seems like it was rigged by Ryan Day and Chip Kelly.
@@joelbrooks3198 Nailed it! It make no sense at all.

Congratulations Ryan Day for doing soo little with sooooo much again. Also run it up the middle again CHIP. Still trying to believe what I saw.
Well said
Been a fan for 40 years. This is the darkest day in osu history. Chip Kelly stealing a paycheck. Day’s mentality is to play for field goals even though his kicker always sucks.
Runs on 3rd and 8 then 3rd and 10. Dumbest things I've seen in football since Hackett was head coach at Den.
Day should be gone before anyone!
Go Bucks!
I like your dad and I have never even met him.
@stephaniechaffin1154 Thank you. Tressel era was special.
Somebody tell Ryan stop trying to beat them at their own game playing in a phone booth is their STRENGTH!!!! 🤦🏽♂️🤯🤯
This game was inexcusable no excuses. We played like shit. Excuse my language. Ohio State is by far the better team all the way around the board they just choked no excuses let’s go win a national championship to save our season and our fans🎉
The offensive game plan was offensive.
Aggressively offensive
A team doesn't have to win the running game to win the game--but you should at least have one. The game plan came out of a saloon in Dodge City, circa 1888. Day needs to sit down and do some serious introspection--Sometimes one has to realize the position they've been gifted is out of their league.
ZERO offensive creativity
Not even competent
This was the worst performance as an offense they’ve had ALL SEASON!!! Chip was HORRIBLE!!! Don’t make the mistakes with the ball, miss easy field goals they win the game!!! WHY??? Why in the hell did they go away from passing down field??? Just insane and I’m speechless
You don’t need to be creative, just don’t try to run it up the middle when you have 3 O-line starters out. Inexcusable by Chip Kelly. Running was not the key to winning when we’re injured.
Incompetence
No passes to jj in the 2nd half wtf!!!
I can’t imagine Michigan’s secondary was THAT good.
They have been criminal in not getting him the ball enough all season. He needs 10 targets a game. He's our best receiver and he didn't even have 1,000 yards during the regular season. He should easily have over 1,300. Criminal.
Its crazy
Zeke Berry put that boy on a milk carton 😂
Lucky to beat Nebraska earlier in the year. That was the first warning shot of what could happen if we d*icked around and played poorly a big part of the game. Obviously nothing changed in the biggest game of the year and it caught up with them..
It was a pathetic display
So very very disappointing ,the seniors deserved better.. good luck Ryan Day start packing..
Instead we did everything that didn't work
It was incomprehensible
From Ohio vs TTUN
Woody 16-11-1
Tressel 9-1
Urban 7-0
Total 32-12-1
Not from Ohio vs TTUN
Bruce 5-4
Cooper 2-10-1
Day 1-4
Total 8-18-1
Coincidence?
I like this plan!
Tressel is the President at Youngstown State University.
Nope. Tress is retired from being college president, is completely available.
You overestimate Day's abilities.

The only acceptable next step is Ryan hands in his resignation tomorrow.
You have to blame both Day and Kelly.
@@HughMorristheJoker100% I gotta think Day was either controlling the offense or overriding Kelly. That looked like a Ryan Day game plan
If they fire Day Gruden or Vrabel I don't want some college coach. And Hartline is too buddy buddy with the players to be head coach. Gruden wants back in coaching and is a QB guru. Day has to win it all to save his job and things will probably get worse before they get better if they fire Day
Never seen a more scared coach and team.
Eddie George just won Coach of the Year in his 3rd season. Just sayin
Still Buckeyes! Got to take the good, the bad, and the ugly. Got ugly out of the way now 😂
There is only one reason you play offense like you did today: because you are playing scared.
If oregon beats penn state as hard as im expecting them to, then the seeding i have is:
1. Oregon
2. Texas
3. SMU
4. Boise State
5. Notre Dame
6. Georgia
7. Ohio state
8. Penn state
9. Tennessee
10. Miami
11. Indiana
12. Arizona State
You could flip osu and psu, and just remove miami entirely, move indy up to 10 and add alabama to 11.
Kicker killed us
No we did
Defense played pretty good kicker sucked and there's didn't.

Chip may well be great at scheming and designing plays coach, but a head coach he is not.
Keep in mind, that Nevada loves Ryan Day.
Chip Kelly really let Ryan Day down
Ryan counted on Chip to get this done and let him be the CEO.
It was nice while it lasted, our rankings will tumble badly, as it does for the Buckeyes
Not a lot of comments... people are stunned.
The live was crazy with comments
Oh I'm sure. I looked at some boards.
Good osu needs to be humbled
Chip hasn't been "CREATIVE" all year! There's nothing unique about his play calling matter of fact it's just the opposite a MASSIVE disappointment
I see lots of de commitments coming and lots of guys in the portal. JJ, Julian, Downs.
Is Day, John Cooper 2.0?
Yes definitely
Ryan Day is not tough…his interview on TV 10 foreshadowed he was scared…he should’ve been escorted off the field fired!!
Day seems like a great QB coach abd coordinator. He did great with fields and Haskins abd Stroud, but as a coach he just cant get it done.
Some people are not head coach material period. I’m not, I’m humble enough to admit it. I could be a great position coach. I might be a good coordinator since I basically ran my hs team’s defense as strong safety. But no way I’d make a head coach. You have to watch and deal with many moving parts everywhere.
Well, I hope we got our shitty game out-of-the-way 😂
The problem is Justin Frye. We can't run against good D-Lines has been that way since he came
The worst defeat in Ohio State history was the 1976 Rose Bowl. 8:22

3. Two Ohio guys head coaching in the MAC

Even if we won the natty it would feel hollow
Even winning the natty would not neutralize this loss. Time for a coaching change.
I hope everybody knows Ryan Day did not do the play calling Chip Kelly did fire Chip Kelly’s fat butt
Who hired chip? At the end of the day it’s a Ryan problem
That’s 7 given to
Michigan Ohio did not get.
Is anyone discussing the OL coach? Been a problem there for several years now
Justin actually did a pretty good job this year developing the offense line, anytime you lose 2 of your best O linemen that’s difficult for any team!. I personally don’t like his inconsistent recruiting!!. Can’t miss on the difference makers
That's ryan days gay lover and best man in his wedding. You think he's going to get fired? Fg kickers should go into hiding! Ryan "cooper 2.0" needs to go
I knew he was going to miss that 35 yard field goal.....the coaches lack of poise was infectious
Facts, well said. You could feel the tension of the coaches dripping onto Will Howard and Jayden Fielding
They got Charles Woodson on NFL countdown 🤮
The coaching staff doesn’t work hard enough to regroup. They will always underperform because the staff are chronic underperformers.
Could we convince Urban to come back?
TTUN lives rent free in Days head. Face it fellas we got Bucked! The offense of play calling was horrendous.
Allot of 5 star ballerina dancers. It time to go for football players.
This was A horrable Game
Big games are always Ryan Day's worst games.
He did win 2 top 5 games this year. I think he just can't beat Michigan. He has the Yipps and he needs to go after the season. The only thing that saves him is if he wins it all and their O-Line isn't good enough to hold up enough to make that happen.
Now can they take the natty unfairly gained away?
I'm getting to the point where I think they will not be punished and if that's the case then can you blame them for doing it. They sucked and had no chance of beating us. Now, we are in that situation against them. I'm not sure we shouldn't cheat. If it turns the tables and gets us a National Championship and nothing happens. F it, just cheat Ryan Day. Anything beats this crap.
@stephaniechaffin1154 people always try to make Ohio State an example and cheating gets you nowhere, we are basically there. There was no reason to lose but sadly, they found the way to lose
I might be crazy but I’d like to see if Marcus Freeman really likes it in South Bend or if he was just pretending.
NO MORE EXCUSES NOW! 〽️
Howard doesn't throw 1st pick, they don't get 7. Howard doesn't throw red zone pick and we score 7. K makes both FG. OSU 23 TTUN 3.
