One of the best ways to answer whether a motorcycle is worth buying it is analysing what's good and what's bad about it in a form of pros and cons. And this is what I'm doing for you in this video.
If you want to learn even more about what it's like to ride this new Honda XL750 Transalp, watch my full, honest review of it here: • New Honda XL750 Transa...

I very much disagree. That motor is amazing. I have one. The motor is simply amazing. It’s just as quick or quicker than the Honda Africa twin I have that bike too.

It's amazing. Because of all the Strange, biased and wrong Reviews i almost refused to Test IT. Tested IT and immedeatly bought IT. IT Likes to rev and you can Drive IT Like a naked Bike. Awesome Sound. If you get the Chance Test it.

I don't know why Honda didn't make "road" version with tubeless tires like Suzuki did with V-strom 800.

The engine of this bike it's a must ! a jack of all trades bike. That's why I love it ! the most complete bike in the market.

I have 900 miles on my xl750 and agree with much of your review. It doesn't like straight line big bumps, a bit harsh. Hate the tubed tires. At least Honda should offer optional tubeless rims. Also light throttle openings at a steady speed produce pretty rough/uneven fueling which is a bit annoying. Where I might disagree is the engine power. We have less than Euro bikes do for some reason but it is still a blast to ride, completely in keeping with the rest of the bike. This is a bit of a budget cycle. Aftermarket cruise control is now available. There is no engine heat! You didn't mention that. The foot pegs are a little further forward than most bikes which almost nobody points out. This is great if you have old knees that don't like to bend. I am still looking for the perfect highway windshield but that happens with every bike I buy. Overall this is a surprisingly fun and comfortable. Thanks for the review.

Good summary man, when you find good windshield for highway speeds, please let me know. I have Givi windshield and being 185cm, above 110km/h wind noise is prominent.

Really appreciate your work, thank you so much!
Do you plan to have a group wrap up of mid-size ADV bikes, as you did for the big ones? That one was really fantastic.

Good review, I think you mentioned the most important points. Comparison to competitors will be interesting!
In my opinion, the character of the engine doesn't quite seem to fit the bike. (its from the Hornet of course). Also I think it would be better with a 19 inch front wheel (tubeless) as it seems more road focused not hardcore offroad so whats the point. And I agree with the headlight- imagine it with dual headlights like the AT or the original Transalp- that would be a winner

you have rally footpegs on the model you tested. The standard are rubber. comfortable.

  • @patkennedy1
    @patkennedy1 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

The rally footrests that are fitted to your bike are about 10mm lower than the stock ones (with rubber pads) such that the rear brake pedal needs to be adjusted downwards when they are fitted. (I fitted these to mine). A five minute exercise to adjust the pedal. Another couple of omissions I don't think you mentioned are the lack of an ambient temperature gauge, fitted to most bikes now, and the lack of an oil level window, which makes checking the oil level problematic. (A quick visual check through a sight glass preferable to opening the engine).
The headlight? Yes - it lets the bike down a little, and isn't a very bright light either, but let's not forget that this bike was built to give a lot of bike for not a lot of money. (Extra driving lights can be fitted). This is the reason for the tubed tyres also, which are fitted to most of the competitors in its price range. The tubed vs. tubeless discussion a long one, and not all in favour of tubeless, particularly in spoked wheel models... But at 11,500 kms I am enjoying mine, and it has actually proved to be a better machine than I expected.
The air filter access is a big disappointment, as mentioned below, and I am about to go through that exercise, but overall this is a decent bike for not too much money. Light, extraordinarily economical on fuel, and a true 'all round bike'. I suspect that once I have accessed the air filter once, it will be a less daunting proposition. The plastics that need to be removed are not difficult, and I have done some of this already. But my previous 'adventure bike' (Cagiva Elefant 750) also has the air filter under the tank, as does the Ducati Desert X, and various other models. I ride a lot of dirt roads out here, but if you don't ride behind other vehicles (I don't often) it won't be such a frequent requirement. A job every 12,000 kms that I can put up with. Thanks for your test.

Looked at it in person and it does appear to have cheap finish quality compared to competition and past Hondas. Not typical Honda quality. Honda USA does not allow test rides or demo rides, so will go with your review. Have owned several Honda mid-size sport and sport touring bikes.

Biggest con of the bike is the location of the air filter, as it requires quite a bit of disassembly to get to.

The worst modification of the transalp. They could lower the center of gravity by lowering the engine... But they placed the exhaust manifold at the very bottom with a huge gap from the engine...
