Hi Kathy ☺️❤️ Watercolor ground is a medium that is most often used to make non porous surfaces act more like watercolor paper. I first came into contact with it when I bought a little Daniel Smith watercolor paint set on sale. There was a little bottle of the ground in the set, but when I tried to use it for what it was intended to be used, I wasn't really all that impressed with it so it ended up sitting in my supplies for quite a while before I decided to play with it again. I find it great for creating textures over watercolor paper. ☺️ Here is a playlist you might enjoy of other videos I have created using watercolor ground: th-cam.com/play/PLWTYyiAKGjewA5WGWtoPbNpLmkt6wFb8a.html. I hope this helps! Thank you for making the time to watch and reach out. 🤗
Hi Rosie 🤗💕 I tape my paper to plexiglass from an old shed window ☺️ I felt as though it would have been a shame to throw it out so Damien helped me cut it into smaller pieces and they are perfect. I also sometimes will use an old clip board or MDF board. Anything that is rigid enough that it won't bend or warp as my paper gets saturated with water and dries. The plexiglass can be found online (amzn.to/4dvEFHw) and probably also at hardware stores. MDF board can be found at hardware stores as well and once cut to size and properly covered with gesso on both sides, it can make great substrates for painting or collage work. ☺️ I hope this helps sweet friend. ❤️
There seems to be a trend that one learns only through struggle. What if you put out there to learn through joy? We can get lazy when everything is going smoothly but it's the laziness that's the problem, not the flow. My art is not "professional" but it is rare that I am not happy with what I create. It's a choice to live in joy. Do not let anyone dull your sparkle.
Learning through joy is such a lovely approach! ❤️ I would say that most of the time, I do learn through the joy of creating and yet, at the same time, when I am faced with a challenge and I choose to persevere through the challenge, I believe I learn even more and I strengthen my trust in my abilities to overcome. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with that! I am a person who feels it all and I think every single emotion I feel is useful to me in some way or another. I'm just thankful we all get to choose what works best for each of us. ☺️ Thank you for making the time to connect 💕
Another great question! ☺️ A number of different factors can contribute to making colors "muddy". For instance, colors that are complimentary to each other (color theory and the color wheel can help in figuring this out 😉) look great next to each other, but when they mix they tend to create colors that are more neutral, akin to grays. One way to prevent these types of colors from becoming muddy is to first apply one of the colors, let it dry and then add the other complimentary color. Also, colors that are warm and colors that are cool can also create mud when mixed. For instance, colors that are cool, tend to mix well together and not create "mud". The same goes for mixing warm colors with other warm colors. A lot of this can be understood via color theory, but I have found it most helpful to experiment and see how the different colors I have in my palette work together both when they are blended and when they are simply next to each other. ☺️ With experimentation, I often discover new color blends that I might not have considered before. And "mud" can also be very helpful in paintings because adding neutrals can be a great way to make other more vibrant colors pop. I hope this helps and can encourage you to start playing with different mixes to see what you can discover. It's all so fascinating! Thank you for making the time to reach out ❤️
@@gabrielleannacormierart I will play with the colors. I have a little of color theory knowledge but I think different manufacturers’ products react differently to each other. This is an invitation to play!

@@joycesnodgrass7068 How are you doing my sweet friend? I thought about you lots this past Saturday and with every thought, there was love sent your way. ❤💕❤
Thank you so much Linda ❤️🤗
What is Watercolor Ground? Very never heard of it. I love the technique.
@@gabrielleannacormierart Thank you! I loved the video and the possibilities you showed us. 🤗

I like the picture better horizontally as well.
It's interesting how a change of perspective can make such a difference, isn't it?! ☺️ Thank you for watching! ❤️

Merci beaucoup ma tante Diane ❤️🤗 Je te souhaite de passer une tres belle semaine xoxo
@@gabrielleannacormierart Merci, Gabrielle, toi aussi. XO😘😘
Gabrielle you usually have a piece. Of flat plastic or glass that you tape your paper to. What is this called and where did you find it
Hi Rosie 🤗💕 I tape my paper to plexiglass from an old shed window ☺️ I felt as though it would have been a shame to throw it out so Damien helped me cut it into smaller pieces and they are perfect.
How did you know that your colors would not become muddy?
@@Kathy54767 with me there is always an invitation to play ☺️ And I’m happy you’re up to the « task » 😁❤️ Have fun my friend 🤗
