      The narrator doesn't realize that Zeus didn't exist in 320 BCE when Serapis was created. The name was originally Osirapis, then Sirapis and later Serapis. You're correct, it's a combination of Osiris and Apis the sacred bull of memphis, not Zeus.

    i am coptic and this video answered so many of my questions. i knew the whole “st mark of alexandria brought christianity” story was nonsense. it was not adding up because the validity of the gospel of mark was proven to be inaccurate and mark didn’t even write the gospel of mark; no one knows who did. and alexandria was controlled by the greeks and roman’s, and that’s where their powers resided. so when i hear “st mark of alexandria” who was alive during the roman colonization, who looks like a completely white man, it makes me think that the oppressor (roman’s) definitely changed the narrative. because that’s what they always do.

      I understand you, but it was a mythical construction, the story of Saint Mark. But otherwise why did the Ethiopian church depend on Alexandria?
      We know historically that:
      “From 1926, the Church undertook a march towards autonomy vis-à-vis the Patriarchate of Alexandria and in 1951, it now became autocephalous.
      Until 1959, the leader of the Church in Ethiopia was an Egyptian monk appointed archbishop (abouna) by the Coptic Patriarch of Alexandria. The term "Coptic Church of Ethiopia" was therefore commonly used, but this denomination has tended to disappear since 1959>>

    • @mnzdeep4258
      @mnzdeep4258 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It was never proven to be inaccurate lol. St Mark was written about 30 years after JESUS ressuction by saint mark this is confirmed by early church fathers like papias and iraneaus, most scholars do accept that saint mark did write the gospel of mark. And yes alexendria was controlled by a foreign power but that didn't matter much the natives (The coptics) converted to Christianity while there governance was under pagan rulers.

    I really enjoy your videos and the information you share. I think you do a great job of explaining complex topics in a way that is easy to understand. However, I have one small suggestion. I think it would be helpful to include dates when you are talking about historical events. For example, you mentioned that the Ptolemaic period, which was a period in Egyptian history that lasted from 305 BC to 30 BC. I think it would be helpful to include this date when you are first talking about the Ptolemaic period. This would help viewers to understand the context of the event and to place it in a chronological order.
    You also mentioned that the Council of Nicaea which was in the period AD 325 in modern day Turkey. And that Coptic Egyptians migrated to Ethiopia in several waves, which began in the 4th century AD.. The first wave of migration occurred in the late 4th century, after the Council of Chalcedon in 451 AD.
    I think it would be helpful to include these dates when you are talking about these events. This would help viewers to understand the order in which these events happened and to see how they are connected. Thanks for sharing!

    The sirapis was created from the apis ( the bull representative of Ra ) and osiris (Greek name) and combine the two to make it into sirapis

    • @thatfirstone
      @thatfirstone ปีที่แล้ว +2

      "Osiris" is Ausar. They are one and the same. "Apis/Ra/Horus" is Heru. The Greeks worshiped the black African gods, because they understood those gods to be the ones with power. This is the reason for Auset and Heru, which became the Black Madonna, which the pope still prays to, to this day. They knew that the African gods were the ones with power. The Black Madonna was later white-washed to a white Mary and Jesus.

    How do people create a rebel character that speaks volumes against them is what I want to know ? it only makes sense when you throw the character of Jesus out of the window and focus on the imagine, a practice the bible itself forbids.
    It makes more sense for Christianity to originate from something pure but later polluted by human politics like we do with most of what's good in this earth.

    St. Alexander and St. Athanasius who presided over the Synod of Nicaea were Alexandrian (Coptic) bishops lol. You're so misinformed lmao. St. Mathew the Apostle went to Ethiopia, and St. Mark the Evangelist went to Egypt. Antioch, Alexandria and Rome were declared Patriarchates AT the Council of Nicaea. The Church in Africa played a big role in the early church. Patriarch of All Africa(bishop of Alexandria) consistently were the major voices of Orthodoxy in the Eccumenical Councils. Council of Carthage was where the Bible was canonized. This video is again, and I can't overstate it, very misinformed.

    Those who attempt to manufacture a link between Serapis worship and Christianity base their claims on these assertions:
    - Serapis looks like Jesus. Of course, no one knows what Jesus looked like, but the fact that Jesus probably had a beard (see Isaiah 50:6), combined with the fact that images of Serapis show him with a beard, is enough for some to confuse the two. Using this logic, we could say that King Henry VIII was simply an invention of people retelling the myth of the Norse god Odin-since both Henry and Odin have beards.
    - Serapis healed like Jesus. The Bible records many instances of Jesus’ healing ministry (e.g., Luke 5:17-26), and these miracles were witnessed by scores of people. There is nothing mythological about eyewitness accounts.
    - Serapis was an immortal god of the underworld, just like Jesus. To be more exact, Serapis was supposedly a god (Osiris) whose incarnation after death was a bull (Apis), according to the convoluted blending of Ptolemaic and Egyptian mythology. Jesus died for the sins of humanity (something Osiris never did) and was raised (as Himself, not as life-force within a bull) for our justification (Romans 4:25). “Seasonal resurrections” that correspond to the crop cycle have nothing to do with the sacrificial death, resurrection, and ascension of the Lord Jesus. In fact, the Osiris myth does not really contain a resurrection at all: Osiris never comes back to life but simply continues an existence in the underworld. Nothing in all of ancient literature parallels the Bible’s record of the resurrection of Christ.
    - Serapis was called “the Good Shepherd,” and so is Jesus. The problem is, no ancient literature exists in which Serapis is ever called “Good Shepherd.”
    - Serapis was also called Christus or Chrestus, which corresponds to Jesus’ title of “Christ.” Given the wide acceptance of the Serapis cult in the Greek and Roman world, it should not be surprising that the cultists would call their god the “chosen one.” But we should note that the term Christ (or the Hebrew form, Mashiach) predates the origin of Serapis by hundreds of years (see Daniel 9:25 and Isaiah 61:1).
    - The Emperor Hadrian wrote that worshipers of Serapis called themselves Christians. The letter identifying Christians with Serapis-worshipers was supposedly written in AD 134, but the document from which the letter comes, the Historia Augusta has been shown to be a forgery dating to AD 395. Hadrian did not write the letter, and the whole argument is a sham.
    No, the account of Jesus was not borrowed from the story of Serapis. Nor did the Gospel writers borrow from the myths of Mithras, Attis, or others. Jesus was a real, historical person, and the four Gospels relate factual information about what He said and did.
    Just because an event bears some similarities to a prior, fictional account does not mean that the later event never occurred. Fourteen years before the Titanic sank, novelist Morgan Robertson wrote of a massive ocean liner called the Titan that sank in the North Atlantic after striking an iceberg-in the novel, the Titan did not have enough lifeboats on board for all of the passengers. The fictional Titan and the real Titanic also had similar sizes, speeds, and propulsion systems. That’s a far more extensive agreement than any pagan “source material” has with the real Jesus. Yet no one can reasonably argue that what we know about the Titanic is just an adaptation of Robertson’s book. Eyewitness accounts and good evidence prevent us from claiming that the Titanic is mythical, even if there was a similar fictional story already in circulation when the Titanic sank. Connections between Jesus and mythical characters from His time period are far less direct. We can be confident that the biblical Jesus wasn’t cobbled together from prior pagan beliefs. The historical and archaeological evidence against such theories is strong.

    Vespasian saw himself as Serapis, and a healer. That is why Jesus' original name was Iseous, a Latin transliteration of Iaso, Greek goddess of healing. [Yeshua was a conflation]. The Gauls, Celts, British prayed to a conflation of Dionysus and Baal, Esus/ Hesus/Jesus. He was born on 12-25, part of a trinity, and son of Gudt. He died from hanging on a tree. His worshippers tied a rope around a victim's neck, beat them, and hung them from a tree ( familiar?)

    If Serapis was made by Ptolemy, then this would be about 200 years after the death of Buddha in India, who lived in 5th century BC.
    To say that the African Coptic influenced the Buddhist monks is very far off Afrocentric idea that has no base at all.
    However Lord Krishna in Hinduism predated Buddha and Serapis by 500 years, who may very well be how Serapis got his title of Christus, and later Jesus Christ.

    He is so wrong, Ptolemy 1, soter, like Alexander, also tried to get himself accepted into the Anicent Egyptian priest society. He was also rejected for the same reason as Alexander. At the time in history ( 320 B.C.E. ), Ptolemy 1, Soter, sought out and found a council of anicent Egyptian priests and priestesses in Memphis, Egypt, who agreed to make his image into a god. These Memphis Coptic Egyptians complied with Ptolemy 1's request and made a composite using two of their Anicent Egyptian gods, " Ausara" ( Osiris) and the Sacred Bull of Memphis, " Apis," and during this process came up with the name " Oserapis" to Ptolemy 1, and gave his image the assimilated characteristics of their ancient Egyptian Ancestors Ausara ( Osiris) thereby making Ptolemy and his image a "god." They later created a devotional ritual of Serapis; he was spoken of as " The Saviour and leader of souls, leading souls to the light and receiving them again,l." The ritual goes to say, " he raises the dead, he will save us after death, and we will be protected in his providence."
