- I've sailed, slept, cooked, eaten and lived on my beautiful 1894 Beneteau Idylle 38' monohull sailboat Adventureborne for the past five and a half years. And all I can say, is I LOVE this sailboat!
Get ready for positivity on top of positivity all about my humble home on the sea.

👋🏼New Here?!?👋🏼
Hello & welcome! I'm Daniel aka "Adventureman Dan." I've been living on the edge, from one adventure to another for the past eight years. Stating in Central California with my first GoPro, through SoCal, Baja, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Alaska and throughout the whole USA. But for the past five years on my sailboat "Adventureborne" I'm open to unlimited possibilities of where I can go, and what I can do!

Love this! One of my favorite sailing channels ;)
Hey hey cheers good buddy. Stoked to get out on some more adventures with you soon.
The kiteboarding and spear fishing is why I want to get a boat
Your channel has helped cultivate my interest in sailing over the past couple of years. You are an inspiration to myself and likely many others. I can't wait to dive into this lifestyle. Channels like yours provide so much priceless information, I almost feel like I should be paying for it. Much love Adventureman!
Cheers buddy I really appreciate hearing that. Checkout my Patreon page if you'd like to support.
I am looking forward so much to a lifestyle like yours and I would add scuba diving to my list. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Dan! Fun spending time with you buddy. We’ll meet up again 😉
I’ll grab a boat these next couple years and you can show me some things.
-love it bro, -Lane
Dude! That would be sweet!
Great episode, showing the reality of sailing , not just the beautiful clear water and calm wind
Hey Hector 👋 Glad you liked it buddy.
Been looking for an awesome sailboat video to relax with.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Dan, you are the MAN! I only wish I had taken the plunge when I was young! Enjoy every day.
Aquaman Dan! Those little underwater jet packs are so sick!!
I'm actually looking at a Bavaria 34C to buy.
I crewed on several boats and your point about the sailing community is spot on and I love it.
Who knows we might be sharing an ancorage one day.
I have a Beneteau 393 Oceanis. Love her to bits. Wonderful boat and she puts up with everything.
Great video Dan ! Best of luck on your next Adventure !
Thanks! You too!
Great video, you captured a lot of important and relevant points about sailing. Keep it up and keep them coming!
Thanks, will do!
Fantastic plans for 2024. Can you talk more about how you plan your activities on Cuba? As I understand, you're a US citizen, so activities need to fulfill the "Support for the Cuban People" clause.
This video was great. Thank you 🙏 it’s very insightful and inspiring.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Exciting as allways😍
Always enjoy your videos Dan, keep 'em coming. Thanks
Thanks, will do!
Amazing video, a life well lived!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Have a Cabo Rico 38 and love watching your channel.
Good for you Dan, great video!
Thanks 👍
Very lovely and believable.
I can’t wait to get my boat. I want to sail from PEI Canada to the Bahamas.!!
Good on you Dan, motivates me to walk over the road and take my Benny out too!
You should!
@@Adventureman_Dan l Did and am gonna do it again!
Very inspirational video, man!
Glad you think so!
Thanks
Hey hey glad you liked it. Thank you for your support! It's much appreciated.
love you bro inspiring me every video
Can't stop smiling. Thank you.
You are so kind
You are definitely living the dream life..enjoy. Thanks for sharing. Don't count the days.. make the days
Count!.
You got that right!
I think you and I are extremely likeminded people. I took a skoolie and rv for my adventures even though I have always been near the ocean and dreaming of sailing.... owning a sailboat always felt like the "rich person" thing...and I never have had much money.
Now though at 35 i am starting from nothing and trying to get myself into a sailboat, learn to sail, and then head off.
I am very hands-on and have done all my conversion and repairs myself.
Keep up the awesome videos. I hope to see you out there one day.
I would love to mob around from place to place in a little fleet of sailboats with good people. I feel like it makes it safer and just a great way to enjoy it. Once my time in the army is done I’m living this lifestyle
respect.👏👏
You are amazing!!!
You're the best!
Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
Wow this is the life I dream about. I would sail to Thailand. Thank you for Sharing
You should!
Another 6 reasons to watch your amazing videos . . . . Always So personable and educational . . . Love your channel and your insight into the best things in LIFE . . . :) oh . . . Rad Surf gear too . . .
Thank you soo much 💓
Thank you so much!
The swim platform is awesome
Looks like you are heading to the Virgin Islands. Beautiful sailing. Enjoy
Do you have a complete list of your updated gear, like the folding bike brand, and underwater leg Jets that you were wearing to speed through the water?!? That was awesome and I would love to research more about it to try and buy one.
Thanks for the idea! I'll try that.
I'm glad you made this, I have been trying to find a nice simple video to show people like my mom. Why I'm so obsessed with sailboats lol
You are so welcome!
You’re truly living a dream, and mine too.
I wish I could come as a crew and serve ans learn,
I am planning to get my boat and I am doing my skipper course at the moment .
How can I apply for crew member on your lovely boat?❤️❤️❤️😁🙏
Cheers buddy, I'm thrilled to hear you're inspired.

If you'd like to apply to crew.
What a dream life, congratulations!!!
hope i can come aboard someday😁🤙🤙
Awesome channel!
Glad you enjoy it!
My dream! This is a second of your videos I’m watching and I’m hooked. Wonder what could I do to make money and live this way.
I would look into the kratky method of hydroponic gardening. No pumps. No soil.
Nice man
✌
Simple answer... A shotgun kit . Lot more food , different kinds of adventures and i can't leave em behind 😅
when are you going to cross oceans Danny boy? i think you're ready for the next leap.
I'll cross when there is that much more adventure for me on the other side than where I am now. :)
@@Adventureman_Dan Alright mate! I'd like to see you take on an ocean, I'm only starting to sail now, you don't want me to find you still sailing the caribbean do you?, I'll tow your boat across the pacific with me.
Thanks for the video. I want to leave in a few years on my sailboat (kirie feeling 1090) and your video gave me a huge smile.
I have to do it !
Set a date!
A goal without a set date is just a dream.
Have fun!
Have you done a video on boat insurance? I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts and solutions.
Hi Dan any issues in your years sailing that vessel without a protected rudder?
Thanks for all the great vids! They are definitely inspiring. What brand pole spear do you have? I see it's a slip tip. I've only used a 3 prong, but want to upgrade to slip tip. Thanks again. Safe travels.
Headhunter pole spears all the way
:)
Extremely inspiring. I'm wondering, is it possible to live this lifestyle part time? Could I do it as an extended vacation several times a year?
Yes, absolutely
1894? That's a well aged beneteau!
Indeed!
How often do you haul out to do regular maintenance/upkeep? Where do you prefer to do it and how much does it cost you?
I’ve seen a lot of people say different things and while there are many factors which may influence the answer, I’d really appreciate a basic rundown from someone who lives your lifestyle.
I’m a new subscriber, I love and appreciate all the information and passion you share. I hope to follow in your footsteps within the next decade. Thanks!
I just bought our first sailboat in San Fran. We live in Oregon. We need to get it hauled out which is 1200, in, out and cleaned. Our boat is 56 foot. We need to replace all the through hills and valves that were neglected. 16 the shop quoted 1500 each, well do them ourselves for a few hundred each. We need to fix and sort out the electrical and batteries, chargers,.....repair shop wants 16-20k. We can do it for 6. Then paint at 300 a gallon. Sails at 4-6 k each. Fortunately we have 8 good sails...a lot of work just to get it to our area, but we're excited....then finally off on our adventure.
Hi Dan! do you ever plan to sail to Indonesia? we've got great spearfishing spots out here.
Maybe one day! I'd love to spear out there. Not sure if I'd take this boat out that far though.
If Dan doesn't make you want to get out there I don't know who will.
Haha thanks!
Almost ready to make an offer for a scanmar40. And yes I’m a first timer
YOU! r da man
I can't fucking wait
Your videos are super inspiring bro. I'm 24 and I hate working jobs; but I figured out after returning to college that I'm better in academia than I am in the workforce. So I'm considering a nomad / remote career option. Do you have any recommendations? Have you met any sailors with interesting careers that you can refer me to? I'd appreciate it man. Fair winds.
Your videos are great and I really enjoy them. I would love this lifestyle but would definitely prefer a catamaran because of sea sickness (and extra room). Considering doing this at retirement in a few years. (would love for you to do a video about which affordable catamaran you would consider switching to if given the opportunity or recommendation to others for cat people)
I would switch to any catamaran I could afford.... unfortunately none such exist. But that's OK, I'm happy on this boat. 😊
wow, Richard Hammond used to be a wild sailor when he was young...
Hahaha
Can that go from the US to UK? If so, how rough (or easy) would the trip be?
How old were you when you got your boat?
27
I wonder if I could use any of my VA benefits to get something like this going
I would like to sell everything and buy a boat now, live like you live. But being poor, i have to wait a bit ;)
Work hard, save $$$!
@@Adventureman_Dan on it. Had my first sailing in my life few days ago on 22f boat. 😍
W vid.
What model you got
Loved mine at first, but then i got really lonely. I asked a bunch of creators and random people to meet up, or join me on my 32' Oday Center Cockpit with a Captains Cabin. I don't have a family, so i was hoping that id find one in sailing places. Because i don't have a YT channel, i basically found nothing in a full year aboard. I don't like solo sailing, so im selling my boat in Marathon, FL Keys soon. If anyone wants to buy it. Reach out with an email addy and ill send information.
I'm sorry to hear that, buddy. The solo life can be isolating. Try sailing towards the cruiser havens like Georgetown, Luperon, or others.
congratulation ! lot's to like and rejoice ! There are 2 dynamics in your and other cruiser lifestyles ,that are sorrowful : 1. environment pollution : lot's of the products used by cruisers are highly toxic ,especially DIY marinas are producing so many toxic substances ,consequently washed into the sea ,without proper management for trash and substances used ,for instance antifouling .
cruisers want to live in environment beauty ,but they still have not organized themselves to protect environment as much as possible . it is an easy discipline ,to refrain from using plastic bags in grocery shopping ,only buying what fits in ones own bags ,but one can see again and again ,cruisers using plastic bags and dumping plastic trash ,even in places ,where it is highly unlikely ,that proper trash management is observed . new 'plastic boats 'are build and bought continuously ,but there is still no end solution for this material and it seems ,that even 'plastic' boat owners do not care .
so much more could and should be actively researched and done . for instance cruisers organizing themselves ,to research and activate better trash policies for coastal and island regions and marinas ,instead of just dumping more trash there . 2 . killing sentient beings is a serious matter, but cruisers depict in their videos and photos only joy ,when catching aquatic animals for their food and hunting enjoyment .
this can and should be changed ,by inserting a respectful recognition of the life taken and the seriousness of the act .
True, all true, KeyWeiss
harnessing wind energy to navigate the globe, 1000’s of years before a narcissistic United States environmentalists could type on her plastic cell phone made in sweatshops, or thousands of years before she was even born is IMMORAL!!
Taking only what you can eat, making the kill your self, and risking your life to do it, also immoral
and recycling the remains for the other ocean life to eat, till nothing left remains,
as opposed to hiring butchers to kill for you, and paying grocery stores who light their stores and keep their refrigerators cold with coal and oil fueled electricity, and paying employees to get to work who drive oil fueled and plastic built automobiles, and paying gas fueled garbage trucks, to bring the leftovers to a landfill, also, immoral.
Shame shame Dan Shame shame!!
Why don’t you have sturdier plastic bags that use 100xs the plastic, or hand sewn cotton bags with plastic logos, made by sweatshops like KeyWeiss does? Shame on you.
KeyWeiss, I think you can’t tell, but we’re actually crying behind our goggles. You probably mistook our tears for the ocean. That’s our tears we’re swimming in.
It’s shameful to hand carve a weapon that doesn’t use any lead or combustion, and kill your food by hand.
I’m with KeyWeiss! She’s way more moral for shopping at grocery stores that I’m sure shes never driven an internal combustion car to,
and for paying other people to kill for her, so she can survive
Key Weiss, you’re so Wise!! 😆😆😆
"... on my beautiful 1894 Beneteau Idylle 38' monohull sailboat ..." OLD BOAT!, Dan 😂😂😂😂😍😍
This is not a good cruising sailboat,6 inch bilge literally you get 50 gallons it’s going to be over the floor. It is a great sailing boat but is not designed for any bluewater sailing.
Good comments guys, Rick and Mark! ya’ll sound like experts!! 😀 Where’s your TH-cam videos, I’d love to watch them? I bet they’re amazing. What’s the name of ya’ll’s channel’s😃 I’ll subscribe right now!!????
Hey Dan, Haters gonna Hate
Ainters gonna ain’t 😉
Keep doin your thing adventure Man!😉😉😉
Thanks soo much for the support you guys. You're completely correct Hater gonna hate. It's the only thing their good at!
I'd like to see you go to the ABC islands and then around South America and then across the southern route of the Pacific with girls.
She doesn’t wash the dishes 😁
I bet all the diesel & all those repairs on an old boat didn't cost a dime either, haha. Not to mention the Solar, Lithium, other electronics, etc.
I know right?! Excellent point RVMototravel! Excellent point!
I’m with you. That sailboat is crazy expensive compared to the free gas RV’s use, the free tires and free oil changes, the free insurance and free RV parks, the free fast food.
Roadkill is way tastier than fresh seafood. I’m with you RVMoto. 100%
I’m gonna take your advice, because RV’s hold their value way longer than an old sailboat.
And when RV’s run out of gas I guess we we can just roll down the nearest hill, way smarter than sails
Or we could we could make a sign asking for money from our fellow road travelers!!! 😃 they’ll invite us in their cars and share beautiful evenings staring at the highway. Way better than an ocean sunset! Way better!
Smart RV Moto, very smart
Where can I find an 84’ RV these days? I’m dropping all my sailboat plans, and forgetting what I just saw on Dans channel and getting an ‘84 Recreational Vehicle so I can park in a dark alley, or a Walmart parking lot!
That’s living!
Dan, you messed up getting a sailboat. Why didn’t you ask RV Moto for his opinion first!?
Inviting women standing in parking lots to sleep in your RV is way smarter than women in bikinis traveling the world with you.
Dan you just wasted all those days on tropical islands with beautiful women and great friends for nothing!
What a fool!
RV Moto is a genius. 😆
Hahaha omg this cracks me up! Thanks man. Love reading these, too funny!
killing innocent sea life like that is cold
That exactly why I usually pan fry them. Warms them right up! :)
That Idyll 11.5 will get you killed, I had one.also is definitely not a fast sailboat.good 15 winds and less 6.5 kt boat, that’s as fast as it will go.Watchers never buy this design unless you are a coastal sailor.4.5 foot draft and a less then 5000 pound iron keel…ballast 20 kts winds and your going to be afraid 😵💫All that saying how great your boat is has nothing to do with a Beneteau Idylle 11.5
Hahaha what?!? 😆
My question are you alone or do u have a partner because having a sail boat or a yacht that you on water 365 days a yr Others don't like this life style as you can see my name I in as others say hardest place lifestyle to live, yea I was a skipper of large crabbing vessels were I met my wife 60 yrs ago. So some days my life was on water. And to move from Nome Alaska were she was from to Barron Alaska. And to raise 6 children off grid and we own a sail boat 1950 Matthews sedan Cruiser her name name (Havets of Seas ) : Means Beauty of Seas. She my 2 eldest son own now. But we travel a lot My family some love. But. Others not So you 365 days into. Yes cost of owner is high with refits is it harder for you to have a mat why I ask I seen a women with you. A bit. Did romance happen or do you just live life alone. ?
Man you talk a lot.
Have you done a video on boat insurance? I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts and solutions.
No insurance!
