OIC and the banning of Semi-Automatic firearms in Canada : What to do ? My Opinon.

- With the van of 340 new semi automatic rifles in Canada an unprecedented change has taken place in the firearm landscape that will cost Canadians a minimum of $750 million to implement. What to do from this point will depend a lot on the election landscape in the next 10 months.
The term “buyback” is a misnomer. I hate when governments call it that. They can’t “buy back” what they never owned
They never intended to pay for these firearms, or something would have been implemented years ago.
Remember that an election will be called soon. Never vote Liberal or NDP if you value your rights and freedoms.
And use tax payers money!
CONFISCATION is the only accurate term here.
Not just a gun issue when you have a "justice " minister come right out and state that there is no constitutional guarantee to property rights. That is a dangerous position coming from this government.
@@robertk7229 agreed but we need to recognize the basis of the law as unappealing as it may be to hear it :
1- The Canadian Constitution does not protect gun owners.
2- The Supreme Court of Canada has ruled that the right to keep and bear arms is a privilege, not a right.
Being that this is the legal background to firearm ownership in Canada we must be wary of acting as if it’s a ‘dangerous precedent’ when in fact it’s literally the law.
My take is we must convince our law makers to change that law, so I agree with you in principle but also understand that we must elect lawmakers that change those laws
After the government takes all of your guns, how long before they take everything else you have?
Marxism at its finest. Disarm a society while the enemy walks right in undeterred.
I disagree. There is no point being reasonable with unreasonable people, with extremist views. The reason we are in this mess in the first place is because gun owners never stood up. It will continue to happen until they do so. Look at Czechia the people pushed for and got a 2nd amendment added to their constitution, that's how free countries work. Letting Canada continue down this failed post national state with increasingly hostile government is not.
@@johnsweeney2906 I appreciate your comment, my argument would be that there are constitutional solutions but we must vote for them
You cant vote out tyranny
I believe both of those views are not mutually exclusive.
Pierre poillievre for prime minister simple as that
@@kevinpryce7596 True enough, for now. Yet similar bans will continue to be proposed by wanna-be dictators unless we add firearms-rights to the constitution.

@@CanadianFirearmNooB Maybe we shouldn't depend on the 'lawmakers'? Invariably this ends up being a tool of the left, as has been seen repeatedly in history vis-a-vis Stalin, Pol Pot, Chairman Mao, Keir Starmer, the Castro brothers, Maduro, the Chouchescus (husband + wife), the CCP, the Politburo etc. etc. the list is rather lengthy. So what is it with this slavish devotion to 'lawmakers'? Is it a perpetual wish to be treated and ruled as an infant, to be subsequently tyrannized by the likes of an imbecile Trudeau (of EA fame) and his weasel ally Singh? Neither of those two are anything like the former list of tyrants cited, but nonetheless in this 'modern' political system we still see that despotism is still very much a thing, and it operates with very little opposition. So to hell with your ideas of 'lawmakers' and 'other more important' social initiatives. BTW, those social initiatives you cherish so much over firearms are currently incurring $424 million dollars of debt every day. That money has to come from somewhere, and the 'lawmakers' certainly aren't going to cover the cost. YOU have to do that.
Every firearm i own is semi automatic. I dont manually shift the gears in my cars either. I got rid of my wood stove for a gas furnace. I also have a dishwasher, clotheswasher and dryer.
@@aaronjoseph7239 yes I agree that discriminating by the firearm’s ‘action’ is incredibly misguided
The hat reminds me of my childhood watching the game in Expo Stadium with my late Father in a Canada that no longer exists. The Social Contract has been broken. The Government doesn't trust us and we don't trust them.
@@ericferguson9989 I think our government is mainly now leading by a form of ‘idealistic principalism’ to appear as progressive as possible.
It will be up to Canadians to decide if this convenes them.

@@jeffhays1968 it won’t change much if at some point the liberals are reelected and reimpose these rules. Any other government voted in has to offer guarantees
History repeating itself, again and again.
Okey, but using the OIC (Order in Council/) to do that is unacceptable. There is some abuse of power don’t you think?
@@MasterBlasta 100% but we need guarantees from the conservatives. Whats the point in reversing an OIC if the liberals come back in 5 years:
We need laws

What people don't seem to be understanding is that this isn't just about firearms.. this is about property rights. If we allow our governments to take things they deem 'too dangerous' for arbitrary reasons, there will be no end to the tyranny...
@@Earthshipowner unfortunately some people are saying they are ready to go to jail over this but it’s far more likely that the federal government would issue fines to those who don’t cooperate as they did with Covid and these fines can lead to pretty severe consequences for Canadians.
Voting is very important
@CanadianFirearmNooB The RCMP has already stated that they will treat any person who has even a minor infraction with the now prohibited guns like any other criminal with a firearms violation... and it's worse being a lawful gun owner because a minor infraction means they will seize your guns and throw you in jail, fines don't come into play when its with guns... anyone engaging in acts of civil disobediance needs to understand, be prepared, and accept the outcomes associated (i'm not trying to dissuade anyone)
I do agree that voting is important... however, in Canada, the major city centers (Toronto, Montral, Vancouver) are typically Liberal/Ndp/Blok strongholds. We all need to be wary of the 'election reform' Acts these parties will work to install... sometimes voting isn't the way to get your voice heard...
@@Earthshipowner I have kids. In no way will I sacrifice my time with them for firearms. I refuse to do time or spend money on lawyers to exercise civil disobedience. I was apart of the Freedom Convoy and guess what y’all? You will lose. I already had my bank account frozen so I don’t need anymore government involvement in my life. You all have fun “not complying” but I’m not. They win every time.
I’m taking the buyback and I’m done with this hobby. Call me weak but my kids are worth more than any firearm.
I have knives, bats, my body to protect them with. I’ll pass on being a criminal every time a new government comes into power and I have zero interest in fighting for anything in this country. The people here and the general idea of Canada aren’t worth fighting for. Canada has been a corrupt Leftist cesspool for years and years. I have no interest in fighting for that anymore
@ I know that the narrative of ‘voting is sometimes not the solution’ is a popular one for a lot of gun enthusiasts but there is so much difference we can make, at the municipal level, city councils and every step of the way, we must be involved if we want to understand the system and influence it.
I’ve stood so many times in meetings with MPs, city counsellors, city meetings and I always wondered where are the firearm owners.
We just don’t show up and we need to change that. I had a fascinating exchange with my MP recently, he took notes and listened. He didn’t know anything about firearms.
There were only 16 people there that day and we talked about everything from potholes to the police station.
At the end of the meeting 16 people knew more about firearms .
We need to show up
Considering they're talking about taking investment properties away from people who are using them for AirBnB and the like.
keep up speaking out ,, best regards J ,,, ontario ca

Here in the lower 48, we nearly went into that dark night like frogs in hot water. We in free societies are far too complacent about letting our rights be chipped away a flake at a time. Then one day it is too late and you are living in a 'pure democracy'. (Two wolves and a sheep discussing what's for dinner)
@@0101tuber there are major legislative differences between the US and Canada with firearms, we do not have constitutional rights of any kind that legislate this.
In Canada it’s literally like a special class license and the government decides what goes or doesn’t
@@CanadianFirearmNooB I totally get that. However, I would postulate that Canada started into the present state of fascist governance back in 1967 thanks to Minister of Justice Pierre Trudeau who first proposed prohibition of certain arms. If a country wishes to go left, they vote left. Things could have been much different if the Trudeau politics were rejected. And guess what, the apple does not fall far from the tree. Everything you put as a priority to firearms can be taken from you.
People still don't understand how important firearms are to a free society. Maybe when they're all gone you'll remember?
Look where being reasonable led to. Ever increasing restrictions, and then an outright ban.
Could someone link a list of firearms the Ukrainians wish to obtain. Banning any 22lR gun is going too far.
@jameshopkins365 i don't think they've released that list... and its not guns from the end users they're going to send. It'll be taken from the manufacturer or store owners...
@ thanks ,I did some research and your right no list of the 23 firearms has been published.I tried to delete my post that didn’t work.
These bans go against the Magna Carta
I guess the only way around the law is to go around the law. Weird how the law abiding gun owners aren't the problem but are treated as the problem and those who break laws could care less about any of them...

I'm a 🇨🇦 refugee, but just so irritated by Trudeau's knee-jerk gun laws, regulations, and his generally elitist, urban views on everything from guns to Gaza.
There's been a "drift" in the Canada that I remember, and sadly, both in the direction of racist and extreme right views, "leaking" from the idiots to the south, and also the drift toward incredible levels of "political correctness" and "sensitivity", both directions that have reduced the former feeling of "Canadian comfort", people able to argue, without violence, people who didn't take offense at supposed insults...
