8 years ago this album came out? I gotta say that's about when my life took a downturn. I used to be able to hear clearly and have been fighting hearing loss for 4 years now. I wish I could have heard this back then.
6:53 - ummah oum THIS is exactly what I need... Any suggestion of similar folk fusion music please? I can't keep listening to Dead Can Dance all the time...

@praszu DCD is good opening point, yes :) Good music with oriental atmospheres: Banco de Gaia, Omar Faruk Tekbilek, El Horto (Hortobágyi László). Northern-east (with steppe and mountain folk traditions): Huun-Huur-Tu, Namgar, Egschilgen - and the ambient-industrial-oriental soundscapes comes from Muslimgauze - the albums "Veiled sisters", or "Gun Aramaic" (Search for in yt!). Bonus, the best: the original / traditional oriental musics from Persia and India to Korea, Siberia.
If you are enjoying this album, please chime in here with your top 3. Mine are 23 towers, ummah oum, and dust devil. Still trying to wrap my head around the time signature used in 23 towers (I think it is alternating measures of 5 beats/6 beats and then 5 beats/7 beats), but it is still thrilling nonetheless. Oh, and Calico "Stomp"?? The word "stomp" has no business in the name of this tune -- it is too darn smoooov.
He** yeah !! And it pairs equally well with ANY genre of music. North American musicians better pay attention because there are people out there who are evolved musicians playing evolved music and making your 'closed realms' of musics ... obsolete!!!!!!
Super interesting. Had it on in the background while going about my day!
