    No disrepect to anyone else who has videos on budgeting on TH-cam but why am I so excited to get off work and start my budgeting after watching you?? I have been budgeting weekly for years. I remember the struggles with the first month. I
    round all expenses not already ending in 5 or 0 to nearest 5 or 0 above e.g. Netflix would be $15. Also would make sure the monthly divided by 4 ended in 0 or 5. (makes the maths easier and builds small buffer can use for debt repayment or a guilt free treat). Best thing I ever did was open a second bank account to pay bills from. It helps massively with budgeting and allows you to see what you actually have to spend.

    You did really good. Easy to follow. I wouldn't put gas, groceries and spending as a sinking fun. You would be using that weekly so to me it would be in expenses.

      @clarissathompson-matthews9260 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      The reason it's in sinking funds is its purchases that can be typically easier to make cash envelopes for

    Hi, Bri. How did you get started (started budgeting)??? Especially when you are living paycheck to paycheck it’s impossible to pay for your expenses plus start saving for the the next month expensive. I saw you’re examples of May 4 it was more the you earn and didn’t have any money left for basic sinking fun. Thank you in advance for respond to my questions.

    • @pettyr4003
      @pettyr4003 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Her concept is good, but the execution is a bit flawed. I personally would divide the monthly expenses of $1479/4 which is about $370/mo and the remaining $330 would go into the sinking funds. On May 4th I would have $370 in the bank, which is enough to pay the $120 phone bill. I would call the bank about the car loan to find out the grace period for payment. I can’t imagine you will get penalized for making the payment on May 11 vs May 9. If so, then take $50 from the sinking fund to cover the difference and pay the sinking fund back with your May 11 check. Continue setting aside $370 each week and at the end of the month all your monthly bills are paid. Follow the same concept for June. Because there is a paycheck on June 8, you can pay the car bill with the June 8 check. Don’t worry that it’s close, unless the bank has an issue. She didn’t address what to do with the extra check on June 29. I’m sure she will probably add to her snowball debt, but I personally would take the $370 I’ve budgeted for weekly and either leave the entire amount in my checking or leave at least half in there. This will be a nice cushion going forward to put you ahead each month, especially with the car payment. You will be able to pay the phone and car with paycheck #1 in July and all future months. *If you set aside $370 each month there’s an extra week (there are 4 in a year) you will have $1480 in a year. In ONE year you will be one month ahead on your monthly bills and you can start using those extra checks for sinking funds.

    Hi! So can anyone explain what happens with the first week. They went over by $34. If ur paycheck is 700 shouldn't u use the next week checks. Help!

      What she is saying is that you should have enough money stashed away in your sinking funds and can pull it. I dont so it this way. My husband gets paid bi weekly and we just pay it all off and we have roughly 300 left over after i pay all the bills off. I dont understand her way of doing this. I would use the june 29th paycheck and get ahead of the bills so you would have extra money to help with un expected things 😊

      She said she put $700 just for purposes of the video.. she didn’t do the full math, it was more of an example to show how to break down payments.. there are a few things I would’ve done differently but it’s hard to even explain that without real numbers.. also budgeting is very personal and it’s like a puzzle until you get your footing

      She should have pushed the car insurance over by a week because it wasn't due yet, then she would've been under the $700
