I have been budgeting weekly for years. I remember the struggles with the first month. I round all expenses not already ending in 5 or 0 to nearest 5 or 0 above e.g. Netflix would be $15. Also would make sure the monthly divided by 4 ended in 0 or 5. (makes the maths easier and builds small buffer can use for debt repayment or a guilt free treat). Best thing I ever did was open a second bank account to pay bills from. It helps massively with budgeting and allows you to see what you actually have to spend.
I have watched SO many videos on the cash envelope system but I never really knew how to start... this video helped me get a good concept on how to begin and it all made sense. thank you!

You did really good. Easy to follow. I wouldn't put gas, groceries and spending as a sinking fun. You would be using that weekly so to me it would be in expenses.
This method is super helpful I always break down my expenses by the number of checks and to save money. I was able to calculate when I was able to reach my savings goals and pay off my car loan. It makes budgeting less stressful.

Thank you so much. This help me set up my planner and budget. We are in a really bad financial situation so every penny counts. You are right first month is the hardest. Just did ours and we are in a deficit. I think that ones we get back in the grove of two incomes will be much easier
$1,500 is my mortgage but I’m in Houston and is a 4K square ft house. It always interests me what you can get in other places for the same amount. I’d love to have the NY experience but my wallet says “slow down heifer, you don’t have it like that.” 🤣
This is a great strategy! It's not something I would use right now (most of my bills are very low, and rent has been prepaid for the month) so we just pay each bill in the pay period it's due (would work out to the same, 6 of one, half a dozen of the other as they say). But I think when we are making more money and have to budget the rent, I will definitely be using this idea. This takes self-control because some people see that extra $200 in the account (not really "extra"). That's what I'm worried about. We've had separate accounts our entire marriage, but a few weeks ago, we opened a joint account. I can see if he spends $, he can see if/when I spend $. It's a kind of accountability thing.

Because I’ve been paying the full amount when due, I don’t have anything saved to divey much up with this check that I’ll be using to begin your method. Now to look for things to sell. 🤪
I would like to note out that for car maint and christmas you added the 1st paycheck (may 4th) into calculation, so you need to either recalculate the payments or pay double in one of the months (because you couldn't contribute anything to these sinking funds in that paycheck) , otherwise you will be 1 payment short by your marked due date.
Do you have utilities to pay like electric, gas, water, trash? I didnt see that listed on your bills you have. Very great video. Thank you so much for sharing

To me it's a sinking fund because I can pull what I need at the time. I may not do all my shopping at once or spend the same amount every time.
