Nothing beats London in Christmas! I don’t miss the crazy busy crowds on Oxford Street though 😂 we actually moved out of London last year for a sunnier Christmas, but it’s nice to watch videos from home 🙏🙌
In 2019 I decided that I, a Canadian in Ontario, needed to check out London at Christmas. Im a senior and I typically spend 2 weeks in hostels wandering around London every 2 years but I'd never gone in December. I figured London would do Christmas better than anywhere!!! I wasn't disappointed. From the Great British Christmas Pudding Race at Covent Garden to enjoying warm mince pies whilst watching A Chrismas Carol at The Old Vic, Carols by Candle at St. Martin's at the Field, and a medieval Christmas banquet at St Katherine's Dock. It was all so magical and wonderful! It was so much more than I expected!!
I visited London back in 2007 and loved the Hyde Park, this video brought back all the memories. Magical Ice Kingdom is looking amazing! Harry Potter Studio Tour got me so excited! That's one of the places I can't wait to visit in England! Absolutely love this video, amazing job!
I hope you get to visit HP one day, it was even better than I expected! We hadn't realised before going how much they would do to the sets in the run up to Christmas and it really added to it 🙂 Thanks for watching!
Awwww, this video made me so happy! Christmas markets in London, Prague, and Erfurt are at the very top of our bucket list! Fingers crossed we can get to London next Christmas to see family and experience all these markets, rides, lights, and everything wonderful the city has to offer. Ahhh I can't show Tom this video - he'll feel so sad missing Christmas at home (he was very homesick this year as we were vlogging central America) WOW Cirque Berserk looks absolutely crazy in the best way! When we went it was free with slots available to book up to 3 weeks in advance. From looking at their website it looks like this is still the case. You can book a slot through their website. Hope this helps!
Not a lot will be open on christmas day. I imagine it could be nice to walk around and see the sights (without going inside) without crowds although never been in the city myself on christmas day. If you want to book somewhere for christmas day lunch then do it well in advance. Also be aware public transport wont be running. If you have flexibility I would visit before the 25th rather than on christmas day itself, but if you are there on the 25th regardless I think you could still turn it into a nice day

I believe it is open during the day as a botanical garden in winter. I'm not sure if you need to book in advance or if there are usually tickets left on the day. Hopefully someone who knows will see this and be able to help you out! 🙂

Absolutely wonderful! Thanks so much for taking the time to make such a fab video while also packing in so much. I absolutely adore London at any time of the year but especially so at Christmas. My hubby's a Londoner and I lived there for five years. We moved away in 1992 but still get back whenever we can. This has brought back so many happy memories of London Christmases past and introduced us to many new things. You have a real talent for these fun, fact-filled vids!

This was a great way more detailed, normalish, this is the type of stuff you can do here video versus the others. You're a good presenter and I hope you keep making videos. I followed. Thanks for the tips and places. I guess as a question.. my son and I are definitely coming there this winter break-- I know it's not ideal but don't want to do it in the summer and can't in the spring or fall yet because of his school and my job. Originally wanted to fly into London then rent a car and travel the UK and see a lot of places outside of London which I find more interesting then maybe spend the last few days in London. That's terrible to do in the winter probably huh? The weather/ temperature isn't a problem.. but it gets dark early so I should do that at a different time? That's why I think we'll just come spend a week in London, as much as I want to see other historical places and small towns more, there's still a lot I want to see in London and it looks amazing at Christmas time. Did I just ask a question then answer it myself? 😂 Bro, it's stresfulllllll. Anyway, your voice is amazing and please keep making videos!

I certainly am still making videos (partway through editing one at the moment), I just don't upload as regularly as most channels as the type of video I realise I enjoy making (ones like this) are pretty time consuming, so fitting it in around work takes a while! As for visiting the UK in winter, you are right that it gets dark earlier. Other things to consider are whether the attractions you want to visit will be open (some close during winter or have reduced opening hours...not an issue in london but depends where else you go), plus if you get unlucky with weather then getting around can be very slow. That being said there will be more christmas lights/markets/activities around so can still be nice. If you are only here a week then a couple of other options are london as a base and do day trips via public transport or do a split stay with another base to limit travel time. It's great that you want to see more of the UK! 🙂 If winter is your only option then I wouldnt rule out exploring further or hiring a car...I would just research opening times/ease of travel etc before deciding. Whatever you decide I hope you have a great trip! Christmas in London is great 😀

I'm just afraid of being on such a strict schedule, driving somewhere with him.. seeing the place and then it being dark 2 hours later and us being in a hotel for a lot of the night. For what it'd cost, it's just like ahhh. I hate his school. Could do summer but really want to see the UK in non peak times. I would not like all the other Americans there haha. Thanks for the reply.

You could always decide while you are there if you fancy a couple of day trips, although there will be plenty to keep you entertained in London, especially if you are doing Christmas events along with the regular attractions. We stayed at one of the hub hotels by premiere inn (the goodge street one). We didn't mind the super small size because there's only two of us and we were barely in the room other than for sleep. I thought it was a good price given the location
I would doubt you see this, but if you do Christmas at Kew tickets are almost out for this year, I booked my tickets back in February and even then some dates were almost sold out
Many shops and attractions are still open on Christmas Eve but not everything, so once you decided where you want to go check in advance in case something you want to visit is closed or has reduced opening hours. Make sure you check public transport too if you're planning on using it as things may stop running earlier on Christmas Eve. As for Christmas Day itself, most things will be closed and public transport not running. I've never been in the centre of London on Xmas Day but I would imagine walking around the quiet streets would be pretty cool. I'm not sure if you're in London for Boxing Day too but again make sure you check opening hours because a lot of things won't be running as normal on Boxing Day either. I hope you have a great trip! :)

Which hotel did you stay at?
We stayed at one of the hub hotels by premiere inn (the goodge street one). We didn't mind the super small size because there's only two of us and we were barely in the room other than for sleep. I thought it was a good price given the location
I would doubt you see this, but if you do Christmas at Kew tickets are almost out for this year, I booked my tickets back in February and even then some dates were almost sold out

Thank you for your video it's very useful!! we would be in London during the Xmas weekend, would the shops and attractions still be open then?
Many shops and attractions are still open on Christmas Eve but not everything, so once you decided where you want to go check in advance in case something you want to visit is closed or has reduced opening hours. Make sure you check public transport too if you're planning on using it as things may stop running earlier on Christmas Eve. As for Christmas Day itself, most things will be closed and public transport not running. I've never been in the centre of London on Xmas Day but I would imagine walking around the quiet streets would be pretty cool. I'm not sure if you're in London for Boxing Day too but again make sure you check opening hours because a lot of things won't be running as normal on Boxing Day either.
