So there was a part where Donnie's very good friend's dead body was bought in front of him and that Japanese officer basically just piss out at him in front of his dead friend

I think the thing with Bruce Lee particularly is that he died pretty much at the height of his fame, yet it was his sudden death that lead to everyone trying to find the next "Bruce Lee super star" that I feel gave a real kick in quality of the martial arts movies at the time. While Donnie Yen has had like 15/20 years over Bruce Lee as an actor, really makes me wonder sometimes what his legacy would've been if he hadn't have died so young.

So after getting kicked down the stairs he takes his top off and throws it to the ground making his opponent think he is frustrated and making mistakes. When really Donnie knows I have to close the quarters which he does beautifully. Once in the narrow hallway he throws a flurry of punchs to back his opponent into a wall and then goes to town on the guy.

Yeah, too many close ups and shaky cams. Hard to see what is happening which is a cardinal sin for a martial arts movie. Whats the point of having skilled martial artists and carefully crafted coreography when over half of it is lost to the ADHD camera shots.
I don't actually like this that much. There's so many cuts it should come with a seizure warning at times, which is a fine pity as I usually like this kind of thing.
Donnie Yen is an awesome martial artist but he isn't that great of an actor as Bruce was tbh, Donnie always plays the same character, you know, the silent Chinese Nationalist in a world of anti Chinese hate for script reasons

That's correct. The woman was actually a spy for the Japanese who defected to the Chinese.
Also, he raped the character's sister in an earlier scene, and the guy bragged about it after killing the spy.
I think the bad guy had a concussion way before the last hit as he was falling, he was out on his feet maybe 4 hits before the final hit.
