Love seeing black creators taking about biking and urbanism and walkability. ❤ I subscribed.
Thanks for what you are doing here. Cobb County and Marietta are very different places from when I was growing up cycling in the 1970s. The Southern Bicycle League has historical roots in Cobb County and we rode a lot of places on roads that had much lower traffic but likely a more hostile attitude to cycling for recreation and bicycles as alternatives to driving was unthinkable.. Someone like you always needs to be around to remind local planning, the ARC, and GaDOT that Georgia can't pave its way of its addiction to driving and sprawl.
So excited to see this kind of take done at a local level. Marietta could really benefit from a well-connected transportation network that doesn't require being in a car! Very excited to see a cultured of walking and bicyling grow and initiate real change!
Looking forward to December 21!
Started biking to school this year, but I have to use sidewalks because car speeds are too fast even on the roads right next to my school which is pretty sad to see. Great video, and thanks for making videos about our local infrastructure!
Great stuff! Definitely hoping for some safer streets in Marietta.
What a great video! Hopefully we start to see safer streets and more biking infrastructure in Marietta! So much potential!
@mattstigall2721 6:20 that’s me and my son. Great seeing you today at Marietta Perks and telling me about this video.
Im in marietta off powder springs rd and id love to be able to get to the square on my bike. Been carless for a couple years now hoping the infrastructure catches up.
How do we sign up for those bike rides?
For the bike rides, you don't sign up. You just come to the Marietta Food Hall at 9AM on the third saturday of the month (this month it's December 21st) and we get going from there. Completely casual :)
Also, Powder Springs Rd has a multi use trail on it that runs all the way down to the square! I'm not sure if you're on the section that has it, but maybe it could help make it easier for you to get to the square on your bike.
