I'm going to be honest, I normally don't like chrome trim. But when you're buying a vehicle trying to compete with luxury brands, you need to accept it. I do think these specific vehicles pull it off well though, especially since it's a satin chrome. And the body color cladding was a huge selling point on the Calligraphy model. Congratulations 🎉 I just picked up my silver Santa Fe calligraphy a week ago. Great suv. I thought I got lucky paying msrp. You’re the lucky bastard paying below that. 👍🏻
Congrats! We have a 21 Calligraphy black on black and love it. Best bang for your buck, has more tech and luxury that cars double its price, example, turn signal cameras, ventilated seats. Thing boogies as well with that 2.5T
Yesterday I decided I did not want a third row either. I would never use it!! Why haul the extra row around for years, with no use, and pay more for gas the entire time? So, that took the Sorento out for me too. The Santa Fe has a lot of features to recommend itself for consideration! Thanks for your Comments and Review.
Great video sir! My wife and I enjoyed it. We just picked up one of these yesterday with the tan interior and Hampton gray exterior. What a car, what a ride, and what one hell of a lot of features for the money. Also, what a warranty!!! We upgraded on it and got a10 year 120,000 mile bumper to bumper coverage! We are all set! Key West here we come from cold Michigan!
Just leased the exact vehicle last week and returned my 2020 Palisade. Love this suv more than the Palisade for the same reasons. Also walked out of one dealership because they tried to Jack me up, then went to another dealership and got a SWEET deal!! It pays to shop around!
Fun fact: I also went from a Durango SRT to a 2022 Santa Fe Calligraphy, and I thought I would miss the power of the SRT but it's been just fine. Especially at the pump. I have the Portofino gray with the same color interior as yours, I didn't want anything black (exterior or interior) as it's super hard to keep clean and frankly is kinda of a boring color. My SRT was white with the red interior. Never again am I buying a vehicle with a black interior.
I test drove a bunch of SRTs, almost bought 3. But every time something just never worked out. Would've been a fun car to have, but have to agree with you that the power of the 2.5t in the Santa Fe is pretty decent. And the fuel pump difference is even better. Lol
Yeah, the stereo in these is definitely an area that could be improved. The Santa Cruz Limited has Bose and that's far better than the Harmon Karmen in these.
Love my Sante Fe Calligraphy! Had it for about a year and a half now and it's so convenient and the tech features are great! I also prefer the bench seat and no 3rd row it makes the cargo space so easy to use and it's still great for road trips! Just took my family on a day trip this past Friday and they gave me so many compliments on the comfort and styling, they were very impressed! This coming from people who only have BMW's! Great video!
Thank you for this video...and for the memories. I grew up in Woburn, MA but have lived in Charlotte, NC for about 18 years now. Seeing the I95 exit 53 for Woburn/Wilmington brought back a rush of memories for me! Subscribing just for that reason, but, also, your presentation of the Santa Fe Calligraphy was excellent! I have 3 Hyundais now (I've owned Hondas, Toyotas, a BMW and for trucks, Fords and Chevys) but I moved toward Hyundai in 2017 and haven't looked back. End of 2017, I bought a Sonata Hybrid and a 2018 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T. In 2020, I gave my newly licensed son use of the Sonata and bought myself a 2017 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T Ultimate. Now, with my daughter ready to get her license in about 5 months, I'll be looking for my next car as I give her use of the Ultimate. I've had my heart set on a Santa Fe PHEV Limited but Hyundai hasn't made them available in NC and, now, with the "Inflation Reduction" Act having been signed, the tax credit is no longer available to Hyundai Hybrid/EV Buyers. With that, I am thinking about just going with the Calligraphy 2.5T and saving about $8k. With the relatively low miles I drive each year, it would take me about 8 years to get that money back - just not worth it. Your video nudge me closer to my decision. Thank you!
I think you'd be happy with thr decision of getting the 2.5t engine. It's a fairly good sized SUV and I have been averaging 22 mpg sitting in city traffic constantly. But at the same time it's in no way slow accelerating into the highway. On the highway with cruise control at 75, I was averaging over 27 mpg. I could probably get better in both in comfort mode instead of smart mode, but I prefer smart instead, I feel like it's more responsive. The hybrid engines are severely lacking in power in my opinion, so that's why I didn't look into those.
@@StanMisiano Thank you for the input. I haven't test driven the Santa Fe hybrids but my experience with the Sonata hybrid has been very positive. Very positive. So much so, I am torn in that I'd like to add a newer Sonata hybrid but our needs lean towards the SUV. That said, I do have the same concern about lack of power in the hybrid Santa Fe engine. I wish they went with the 2.0T or even 2.5T in addition to the electric motor. The other concerns I have with the PHEV are the small gas tank (I think it is sold as 12.7 but some have said they think it is closer 10 gallons.) and the slower charger. Because I work from home and retail, dining and entertainment businesses are all within a 5 to 10 mile radius, I could run on the EV only for the vast majority of my travels. But I also drive very few miles in a year (5,000 in each of the last two years, only about 7,800 in each of the two years before that), so I feel like the timeline for payback on the higher-priced hybrid would not be worth it without the tax credit. My dealer is prepping a couple of Calligraphy 2.5Ts this week (one is Black/Tan, like yours), so I may see about a test drive next week. I am 5 months away from needing to get another vehicle but, for the right price, I would move sooner.
this is perfect one. i have seen this like 100 times in youtube. i like it so much. my gal fren wanna electric. still we haven't decide. santa fe, if other brand have same features like this. they will charge above $60,000
It's a North American market thing that most companies do second row captains chairs for 3 row SUVs. It doesn't make sense to me, but I guess it is what it is. Lol 🤷♂️
That's a good choice..nit too big ,not too small and it's very quick. However the space between tire and fender unnecessaryly so big. Only thing I don't like!.
I just looked at the same car on Sunday but blue $45,000 I agree with you a bench seat is a must not those stupid captains chairs and I would buy a palisade if it wasn’t for that fact but hearing how much you love the Santa Fe I’m gonna go buy this blue car
@@StanMisiano the blind spot cameras seem distracting to me, did you get used to them? Also wish I could change the display of the speedometer panel in general. Nit picking, I’m sure I’ll get used to it. Thanks for reply.
No wireless phone projection. Apparently, this was news to me, but the higher up trim models with navigation are wired but the lower trim models without navigation are wireless. I will add my opinion as well, but I used the phone projection and absolutely despised it. That was my first time ever using it as well, so I'm not sure if every car is like this or just this specific vehicle model. But when using phone projection, you can't use the phone itself, everything needs to be through the phone projection. And I hated that. Also, without using the vehicles built in navigation, the upcoming directions don't come up in the head up display, only on the infotainment screen. That was enough for me to not use the phone projection alone. The built in navigation system is probably one of the best vehicle manufacturers GPS system I've ever experienced so I don't miss using Google maps.
Dealer had it listed for that and I told them I had no interest in paying a mark up nor was I interested in any other add ons. The car was literally just rolled off the truck which meant it wasn't PDI'd yet as well, so I didn't have to pay for any of the add ons that they purposely do during the PDI then charge you for it, because none of it was done yet.
You set a National record for lowest price. I’ve seen used 2023 Calligraphies for more. Congrats, but given your purchase date, you should check for DCT recall as some 2023 models are impacted and may need a tranny replacement.
Yes, I do. There's definitely things that I've found that I don't like. But overall, I still love it. I am planning on doing an update video on things I like and dislike within the next month.
Really good, I just ordered one. But I live in Australia and they only come with a 3rd row, it will be down all the time, I also got bench seat with it. Still has a full size spare under the car.
We got the Santa Fe and Palisade as the three row. Santa Fe 3rd no good after kids hit 13. We do not have a Kia Telluride here, but do have the Sorento which is the only 3rd row Kia, picture Santa Fe with the Sorento lay out. Also no 2.5T but we have a 2.2L turbo diesel which has fantastic torque. Even with diesel prices the fuel economy is so good it still ends up cheaper to run that the petrol version. Anyway, love your Videos, keep them coming.
@csd440 what's funny about that is that from my understanding the reason the Santa Fe is only two rows is so it isn't directly competing with the Palisade. So it's strange they don't do that in all countries. I did hear about the diesel in other countries, we don't get that here
Once my 2020 Kia Stinger lease is up at the end of this May, I would like to lease a 2023 Santa Fe Calligraphy for sure, either in red or black. My wife has had a 2014 Santa Fe Ultimate and currently drives a 2020 Santa Fe Limited. To be honest, I am concerned about the 8 speed dct, so have you notice any difference from a conventional torque converter transmission?
No, so far mine has been good. I feel like it's a little jerky if you're crawling at 3 mph, which I end up doing a lot sitting in traffic. But as far as shifts go, it's incredibly smooth.
I actually test drove a 2023 Santa Fe Calligraphy today and I purposely did a bunch of “creeping” and it did just fine. I drove a black one with the beige interior, I really want a red one with the black interior. Of course the whole state of Colorado does not have a 2023 Calligraphy in red with the black or beige interior.
With the windows up, it's pretty dang quiet. I feel like it's probably not perfectly silent because they need to leave room for improvement for the Genesis brand line up, but it's still very good. Compared to the Durango, I'd say they the Santa Fe is either on par or maybe a little better.
hopefully your 8 speed dct is not going on the recall list. I wish you the best but for last few years HMC has a lot of serious quality and reliability issues.
