Thanks very much for this, Fordy. It’s really inspired me to get along to a running track and test myself. I just need to find a decent track in Hertfordshire now. My son is autistic and exercising together has really helped us bond. He’s expressed an interest in coming along to a running track as well, which will be a great way for him to gain fitness too. I’ve massively appreciated all your excellent content throughout 2024. Hope you had a good Christmas, wishing you well for the New Year and here’s to more superb videos during 2025! ❤
Is Luton any good for you? theres a track there thats about £4 a session. good track. Stockwood Athletics Centre. also an old RAF one thats free in Leighton Buzzard but its a public playground now and the surface is like crushed chalk so not the full track experience. If you say what side of Hertfordshire you are some people might chime in with suggestions. Realise my 2 are in Bedfordshire but just over the border. Im Herts but these are a short drive from me.
@ Hi. Thanks very much for that. I’m based in West Hertfordshire, the Borough of Dacorum. I’ve never used local running tracks and not really sure where any are located.
@@FordyRuns Thanks Fordy, although that’s around 20 miles from me. Ideally, I’m looking for a running track which is slightly closer to home if possible.
Loved this and all your content this year has got better and better.. still a fantastic time and I know you will be back to smash it.. can’t wait to see what 2025 brings 👊🏻🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️
Awesome I got a 26min 5km today to prepare for next year goals hoping for a sub 2 hour half in may. Luv your channel, listen to on my runs, from Sydney but originally from Southend
The most honest shoetuber out there! others would be dressing it up and talking pony! they man is real! keep it that way Fordy and HNY mate from Ireland!
Good job getting out there and testing yourself. I had my first run in the Pro 4 this morning. 4 miles on the treadmill. The foam felt like it was bottoming out in the heel. I need to put more miles in before judgement. I’m 165 pounds so I’m not super heavy.
Well done Chris. Setting a slower benchmark time isn't a bad thing. it gives you more motivation to smash the training, and you'll crush the time the when you repeat the test. The track looks a bit different to the last time, when we took over the site for Fordy Olympics
I would skip the maccy d’s, that would make you go quicker. I have lost over 2 stone in weight since may this year. I ran HM pb of 1:41 in March at the hilly Cambridge half 😅and then ran royal parks in October over 2 stone lighter in a time of 1:35. I was no fitter than march but carrying less timber made all the difference
I saw Fordy in the crowd at the Saucony 10K and thought he looked pretty lean. its been Xmas so he might have put some back on but the camera's not kind. I need to lose a couple of stone for the summer races. Smash some pb's. Diet starts Wednesday.
@@shaunukhiking I think you took my comment in way I didn’t intend. I didn’t mean to apply Fordyruns is overweight. You can see how disappointed he was with his run. Shifting a few pounds makes a huge difference, I can’t believe how much quicker I run now than before. I didn’t diet but cut out crips, sweets and no takeaways. I ate the same food as before but exercised portion control. The goals and
Do want to try the AP4 even though the 3 was a dud for me. Just did this 5k "test" a week ago on the roads with zero speed work since September and after 2 marathons (Sydney-3:19 and 4 weeks later Chicago-3:11) in September/October. OT 20:04 at 61 years young. Sure I could go faster on the track. Giving a sub 3 marathon a go in Chicago after my 62nd b-day... Cheers to 2025!
You got out there and got it done. For me it takes 2 or 3 hard 5ks before I feel like going for a pb. You've just gone out and done one on your own so not 100% all out imo. You'll run sub 21 mid January no problem.
Did the same thing recently to see where I’m at after running a few 1/2’s this year and only ever hitting the 5k pbs during the tempo / interval trainings but never going out for a specific 5k test. Biggest regret ever as I now have a new time to annoy me that I need to chip away at 🤣 All the best for 2025 Fordy
Kudos for doing such a time trial during the Holidays with all that abundance of food😅. May I ask what agegroup you're in next year? Will be my last in 50-54... I am just like so many others in my age at least 5 kg to heavy. Ran Malaga marathon recently in 3:19 being 85 kg😅.
@FordyRuns That's speedy, and it sounds like you're making progress towards that again. My lifetime PB is 20:30ish that I've just managed in the last few weeks, really trying to break that 20 barrier now. Hope you re-break 20min soon!
Very slightly slower than you wanted at the start of the block just means more opportunity for improvement. It would be interesting to see where you are 8 to 10 weeks in. Good luck, you'll smash it in 2025! 🎉
Your so called "disappointing time" is still 2 mins 1 sec quicker than my PB. But everything's relative, eh!!? Your time is a gauge in order to improve and follow up in another session. Great effort Fordy, go and enjoy that McDonald's!!👊
I would use a coros watch with track mode and specify which lane I'm running in, so the GPS tracking would be nicer instead of your map showing yourself getting off the track and in the middle of the field in the track

Great job Chris and perfect timing. I’m watching this while eating my post run breakfast after just running a 5k PR on my local track of 17:50 ✝️
Hero move

Yeah looks a lot less appealing when it’s not overrun with FORDY’s!
Just recovered from some sciatic issues and did a 26 min 5km. So yea, I got some work to do as well
When's the adiós 9 review....eagerly awaiting your thoughts on it?.
Not a shoe for me tbh I’m not quick enough to get the max out of it

"It's a cold and wet and horrible winters day" has to the most British intro 2024. 😂😂😂

@FordyRuns yeah same here sub 20 been much harder than I thought at 40. Still time. 😆

@FordyRuns Lol, so you're not aware of your own age😅. Note for my future self😂.
What's your 2024 PB or all-time PB in the 5k?
19.36 so I’m a fair bit away from where I want to be

I like it, 5k fitness test, knowing that you have something to do. So I'm off for a Maccie D's....classic
That’s how we roll 🤣
🍿 👀 Go Fordy go!
Thanks
Curious why it looked like you were running in different lanes at different times?
That was just the broll 🤣
Beautiful training center great 👌 job putting in those miles wish I could run on that track let's run fordy you and I one day

Good afternoon. ¡¡¡¡Happy New Year!!!!. Like to Fordy.
Morning all. For me, at Sunday= Family, friends and.... football...... Like to Fordy. A nice weekend for everyone.

I'm at 23:17 as of Thanksgiving. I'm looking to go sub 21 for 2025 goals ❤
Good luck

Yeah I paid not attention counted the laps
This is why I love the Stryd. Distance measurement is allways the same.
Still faster than my 23:13
It’s all relative really for me just seeing where I’m at
