Luke Flegg confirmed the through the car window shots are cuts
One is very noticable once you see it. Don't read further if you don't want to notice it every time from now on:
The car window cut when he exits again (when abducting) you see on the right a blue car some distance away with no car close by (just the blue bins) yet once he is through the car window you see a white car very close by. Also you can feel Ren's abduction timing is off, he's barely at the car when the exiting starts but already at the back of the car when we pan to the back. It's only a short amount of time but it's off

I just want to say about the Jamaican and Carribbean influences.
The windrush generation were a group of immigrants from the Caribbean that came to the UK in around the late 1940s to around the 1970s.
Their culture was ingrained into British culture so much so that a lot of British slang is basically Jamaican slang. We also gained a lot of musical inspiration from them and thats why Bob Marley is held in such high regard here.
And to further add on, one of the most iconic artists Britain have produced is Eddy Grant, a British Guyanese artist who also influenced a generation.
I'd recommend checking out Electric Avenue by Eddy Grant also check out some songs by Skindred they're a welsh metal band fronted by a Welsh Jamaican singer so i wouldnt be surprised if Ren was heavily influenced by them as he's also Welsh.

    • @napitedella7416
      @napitedella7416 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Thanks a lot! Now i can say to my friend that he isn't just trying to imitate the style. I knew Ren had it had some kind of reasoning to it, or heritage etc.

    • @DenTweed
      @DenTweed ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@napitedella7416 Carribean/Jamaican culture is really ingrained in the UK. Major UK genres (think Ska Punk, Jungle/Drum 'n Bass, Grime, etc...) are directly a product from that influence and also why UK MC's are more like Jamaican toasters than being like US hip hop MC's because of SoundSystem culture and such. This track in particular is inspired by Barrington Levy's Murderer, someone who had big succes in the UK and who also got sampled a lot inJungle (which Ren partly grew up on). This is absolutely no imitation but a serious part of his musical heritage/environment

Brother, ask your mother what my name is
I was born famous, trendsetter, hot stepper, greatest
Shocking like a finger in the anus
I was born wasted, stoned out my brain brother, faded
    Writing catchy syllables, contagious
I was born courageous, naked and fucking outrageous
With a microphone, I rock stages
I jump on the rhythm, a rhyming cyclone
And I pull excalibur right out the stone
King punk, the precision it hits like Stallone
Rocky, keep it cocky, I'll be Al Capone
I walk alone, sit on the authors throne
And if you want it, I'll deny it like a mortgage loan
Your daughter's home, we'll be staying home alone
Condone the bone and eat it like a Toblerone, bitch
    [Chorus]
If you catch me alone, you better get out my zone because I'm ready to kill
I'll sit on my throne made of bodies and bones because I'm mentally ill

    Murderer
Homie, it's the way that I get down
    Yeah
    [Verse 2]
The bigger they come, the bigger they fall
The trigger, the gun, I'm clipping them all
    Like eeny-meeny-miny-moe
I line them up against the wall
I don't mean metaphorically, lyrical bullets
I mean actually fucking kill 'em, squeeze the trigger and pull it
Blood splat, how's it going lad, rhymes are flowing mad
Trust that I'm a pro at that, seeds are sewing, bad boy
I'm an addict, volcanic, a mind that's twisted and manic
The rhymes are gifted, God damn it
I push the button, we panic
Breathe, I seize the land sky and the seas, it's easy
    See me freestyle freely
    What, man?
Yes, I came to rock, man
Drop it like it's hot, fam
Wearing clothes from Oxfam, God damn!
I am a blood-sucking titan from the streets of Brighton

Jamaica was part of the British Empire and remains part of the Commonwealth. There's been large scale immigration from the Caribbean to the UK, especially from Jamaica. The immigration started after WW2 but hit it's peak in the 60s and 70s. As a result, ska and reggae have been a big part of British cultural life for a long time. It even helped bridge cultural divides. The huge ska revival of the late 70s and early 80s where ska became one of the dominant chart genres illustrates this, as virtually all the British ska bands were mixed race. Thus it's no surprise to hear ska and reggae influences in British music and many of those influences are 'home-grown'. Btw, did you know that Bob Marley's father was a white Englishman? :)

You guys need to check out Hardy. He just put out his album. (The Mockingbird and the Crow) It's like Rock and Country together "Hillbilly Rock?"
Hardy has written many songs for artiest, and now he is doing it for himself. Awesome lyrics.

The reggae and Jamaican influence is because he's from the UK. There's a huge afro Caribbean population here. Especially in the south.

With Jamaica being an ex-British colony and still part of the Commonwealth, the UK has a very strong link with Reggae. Bob Marley also lived in London for three years and recorded Exodus here.

Love you guys... probably the channel I most come to as you are so fun and have more of the music I have been recently finding (some very late in the scheme of things). This was a lot of fun too... just to try and explain the thing that goes on (at least with me) on some of the music. Like this one. Love Ren. But when I first head this one I was not on board. Generally not any kind of Rap or Hip Hop fan (just missed that whole gig during my life span) but folks like Ronnie Radke and Ren that have introduced it in their own way in songs I like have opened my eyes to appreciate it and love it in context of certain songs ... anyway.. I think the main issue was that without any of that kind of background or understanding of the type of things implied (I have heard something to do with "rap battles") What I was hearing and seeing did not seem to portray the Ren we know and love. The music aside the whole gangster kind of thing... cloraform (sp) and stuffing a guy in the trunk was not expected. All this blabbing to say.. that through listening to a few different kind of reactions (some more specifically take apart the musical layers and others more kind of the ties to what happens and connections to old standard ideas in kind of that rap battle kind of "taken it on" "try me" .. kind of attitude. I have slowly come to have fun with this as well and really enjoy the totality. Thanks guys. You always make me laugh too.

Hip Hop -- Rap arrived in Britan with the Jamaican community, as well as the influences from USA they also influenced Canada the same way. Check out the songs of Snow (mid 1990's-2000's). Also a white Rapper. Song "Informer" was a favorite of mine back then.

He is into Reggae for real, that phrasing on Murderer is a straight copy of BARRINGTON LEVYs track Murderer a Reggae classic. I feel WU TANG influences on that beat too
