The second you said “elope” I thought of my grandparents. My moms parents eloped to New Mexico in 1938, he was 17 she was 18. They told their families they were going on a church trip. They went to New Mexico, got married, went back home to their families like nothing happened n went on w school n Uni until WW2 started n my grandpa got drafted. His family didn’t know he was married until he came home a year after the war w a new baby n a wife. They went on to have 3 more kids, adopt 4 including my mom, n foster 6,500 indigenous children until her death in 1996. He still talked abt her like she was still here, he never remarried. He always said she always will be his only love. He passed at 91 from lung cancer when I was 13. Their love story is my favorite. How they met is even more romantic imo-
