Bridging the Digital Divide | Chattanooga, TN

20 years ago, when EPB began building Chattanooga’s municipal fiber network, they could have never imagined how critical connectivity would become to education. Today, while other cities struggle with the digital divide, a partnership between EPB and Hamilton County Schools has brought high-speed, no-cost Internet access to thousands of economically disadvantaged students and their families.
With support from The Enterprise Center, a community non-profit, and with funding from public, private, corporate and philanthropic sources, HCS EdConnect is a program built by - and for - the community.
The benefits of EdConnect go far beyond the classroom. For the parents of students in Hamilton County Schools, no-cost Internet access provides opportunities for their own remote learning and greater economic freedom.
