Time capsule. 1990 again 😂 I remember riding with My Dad he drove these MTA and SCRTD 484 Pomona to Los Angeles via Holt Ave and valley Blvd via El Monte station and I-10 freeway
Wow, thank you for posting this video! I’ve been hoping and waiting for a high quality post like this. I drove ‘89 Flxibles At TriMet during my tenure as a bus operator. The grumbly poppy exhaust note was heavenly. Ours had an exceptionally jerky version of the Voith 863 and when that tranny would drop from 2nd to 1st followed by full air throttle acceleration, my head would whip back in that driver seat!! Great buses and a great operator compartment on those 89’s. I sure miss them, but stoked I can relive it by these videos! Thank you!!
Sounds like a Cummins diesel the MCTS had 20 NEOPLAN AN440S NUMBERS 3600-3619 with the Cummins L10 with Voith transmission and MCTS got 117 Orion V buses numbers 3700-3816 that had a Cummins diesel and a Voith transmission
Best bus sounds of them all.
Never stop what you’re doing, you the man!
What a great bus and engine!

This is epic! And just two days ago, happening in our real world right now! So cool man
Fells like a nice ride on the 484😊
Just like the Dennis Dragon bus
20:00 and up the hill is the best. You held that low RPM like a champ.
Travel Smart....Take Metro Ⓜ️😊 I remember those days sadly no longer provide service to Pomona CA foothill Transit took over the MTA in my area
Sound like 1987-88 Flxible Metros (7000-8000 series) at Miami (MDT) and 1988 Metros at Tampa (HartLine)
Some of MDOT MTA Maryland 8700s as well (Example: 8738)
My Dad probably drove this very bus at one time
No voice no stop announcement had to know the route by heart or you'll miss your stop. Just a Bell 🔔 and Ding to get off
No automatic doors wait for green 💚 light and push door open. No ramps had folding steps for wheelchair lifting
Nostalgia!!
