I wish there had been ANY sort of conversation between Luka and Adrien before Luka left. Luka being the one person who knows his identity as Cat Noir and Adrien having someone to talk to about it besiders Plagg could have been a great storyline in general, but even just for Adrien to be like, "Hey, uh, thanks for keeping my secret, even though I didn't know you knew." would have given more than the ending did, imo.
The show tends to create a problem and make it seem like it's growing into something big only to be resolved in a simple conversation that lasts seconds, SECONDS, how can a mess that was created in so many episodes be resolved in ONE SCENE with a few SECONDS?!
Migration isn't my favorite episode of season 5 because there was a lot the writers could've done with Luka knowing the truth about their secret identities, especially in the first couple episodes of the season where he could've come to Marinette's house or school to see if she's okay and to see if Adrien's okay. And add a bit of drama, Lila interacting with Luka only for her to be surprised that Luka can see right through her and not buy any of her BS. I do like how Luka didn't believe right away what Bob was saying but only said yes because everyone else was excited about the record deal and wanted everyone to be happy. The scene where Luka was acting as everyone's therapy was me back in high school, XD. I wish we could've seen more of Luka before he left in the first half of the season and I love your take on what they could've done with his character; he's one of my favorite characters; this sucks.

Miraculous need to realise that raising stakes in a kids show is fine, heck, it's great.

I've felt that way ever since he decided to date a girl who's emotionally attached to someone else was a good idea 😂 I mean, poor baby! He is definitely the therapist friend and has so much wasted potential. All in all, S5 is my favorite out of all the seasons but the narrative structure still needs A LOT of work! Ladybug then finally confesed to Cat noir that she kept secrets and pushed him away (this is their main reason as to how their conflict started)
I think Luka had to leave for the same reason that he's everybody's therapist. He feels like he's the smartest person there and he can't grow from what other people might tell him, and in some ways he's leading others astray when he tries to give people what they want (signing the contract). From the job search episode it seems like he has everything figured out, but something is still missing. I think he will come back an even more well rounded character. I think the inconsistent writing just shows that Marinette grew as a person from being the guardian. What would be the point of getting mad at Luka for lying? Especially since he was ready to take responsibility as soon as it became an issue and leave Paris. Marinette and her lack of control over her feelings was more of a liability than Luka knowing her secret, because he has higher emotional intelligence and could resist the Akuma. Marinette almost couldn't resist the Akuma until Cat Noir kissed her. Marinette was traumatized by losing the miraculous and learned that she can trust her friends, because Alya lying to her wasn't what lost the miraculous, it was her own lack of trusting Cat Noir, and trying to keep control of everything to compensate for her lack of emotional maturity (not her fault since she's a kid but still).

i LOVE the idea of hawk moth targeting luka after he figures out he knows the heroes' identities. i think it would be so cool if the climax was luka absolutely breaking down because of all the helping he's been doing while getting no help himself, all the supressing of his emotions and the constant targeting by the series' biggest villain. i really enjoyed this video :]
I LOVED this episode, but I think what we need is the entire show needs some kind of boost in ratings. More focus on all the other characters and more villains to explore. Some can potentially be way better than useless liela

Like, we get a mid two shot of Luka and *insert character*, 180-degree from Character to Luka when he asks "are you sure that's why you came here?", and does a tilt up mid wide shot of them on the bed. That cracked me up.
I usually dont watch such videos but i knew you wouldnt say some stupid stuff and would be logical. And that was the case. Good analysis, but me personally, im just gonna continue to watch the show from a perspective where i enjoy what im given and dont think about what couldve been. If I'm being completely honest, I can't say that I enjoyed the episode. I was just annoyed the whole time I was watching it. I was annoyed by Bob Roth and how unrepentantly greedy he was, I was annoyed at the band, Luka especially, for being gullible enough to fall for his obvious trick, and I was annoyed at the writers for just writing Luka out of the story. That part made me feel like they just did it because they really didn't know what to do with Luka's character from that point on.
You know it’s also kind of offensive how Bob Roth seems more interesting in just Luka, than interested in both Luka and his twin sister Juleka (aka the daughter of Jagged Stone). Not to say Bob Roth should also take advantage of her like Luka, but still.
I completely agree how the show writers tend to set up such interesting story arcs like Luka learning both the heroes’ identities, but then do nothing that can impact the characters and the plot overall in the series, not just strictly in certain episodes and that’s it. This is problematic as the show seems to have a problem when it comes to balancing episodic and serialized episodes and storylines. That’s not to say a hybrid show of episodic and serialized storylines can’t work, we see it can like in Amphibia, but the problem is that they try to go along the route of making the episodes self-contained and can be watched in any orders. As for my thoughts on the other storylines: I don’t really care if Chloé gets a redemption arc or become a villain as long as she still remains as a good character, but sadly she is getting ruined. Not to mention, the consequences from Miracle Queen is never established like the heroes’ identities being revealed, yet they still get to be heroes despite their identities being revealed. And, I’m sorry to call out on Marinette but I blame the writers for this, it makes Marinette look like a hypocrite because the reason why Chloé started falling to darkness externally is because she couldn’t be Queen Bee anymore because she revealed her identity to the public, including Gabriel. And yes, I know there was a moment in Marinette’s dream that suggests she is aware of her hypocrisy, but they never do anything about it again. The Ladynoir conflict definitely felt off to me with the conclusion, and you’re right about having reused Adrien giving up his miraculous for the third time. Honestly, I think it would have been better if Cat Noir breaks off from the team and works on his own instead like a vigilante. It would have set up a much more interesting conflict and something new at the same time. Allow them to shine on their own before they come back together. Plus, I really hate when conflict between characters is never shown or addressed so we can see a resolution. The sentibeing storyline would have been interesting, but it did kind of came in late into the story. I know part of it is because the sentibeing weren’t introduced until the end of season 2, but they could have hinted or explored on it a little more. They literally had a chance to give a Gabriel, Nathalie, and Emilie backstory in the episode Gabriel Agreste, but (and again this is not to hate Marinette) the writers decide to add yet another Marinette shenanigan b-plot that actually adds absolutely nothing to the overarching story whatsoever. Could the writers kill to just let Marinette be on the side and let Adrien and the other characters take the spotlight? It’s really not that hard. Plus, there are other storylines that were dropped or completely forgotten as well, like Hawk Moth’s obsession to akumatize Marinette in season 3, only to just completely drop it without any explanation why, or that kiss at the end of season 2 that was implying to be progression for Adrienette, only to act like it never happened. I swear, the writers just never want to go further into the conflict and story that has so much potential, and ends up botching it so hard (I’m sorry if I sound a little incoherent, it’s late on my end and my brain is getting too tired).
I have a different take on MLB 'settings thing up' and not following through. I like it because it makes the show less predictable and more realistic. Too many shows have arcs that are telegraphed a mile a way. It makes them much less realistic and, to me, boring. MLB is always zigging when you expect it to zag and I like that. What seems like a setup often is not and small details that are easy to miss are the true setup. Conflicts in real life don't just end with a dramatic scene. They come and go flaring up then settling down and sometimes they just fizzle out. Take, for example, Ladynoir. The conflict with Ladynoir due to Chat Noir's unrequited love ended with a fizzle when he realized that he needed to move on or as he says in 'Glaciater 3' (aka Elation); it was too much to bear and it made him do things he did not like. Sorry for the length of my rant. I do like you video quite a bit and am looking forward to you next installment.
biggest thing that hurt for me in the Luka knows their identities storyline was that I just kinda hoped Luka would help Adrien out with his Cat Noir struggles both with being Cat Noir and Adrien but also with being left out by Ladybug or even just more "Luka shows wisdom" moments but the writers opted not to do that. I did like that this episode gave Luka consequences for his lie even if it was done in a somewhat unsatisfactory way. I liked the episode though and its placement within the season (watched it all in order thanks to Disney following the airing order)
+spoiler this is a theory due to the episodes shown I guess it makes sense on why Gabriel will send Adrien to London (or wherever he makes him go) because that's probably where Luka will be for Gabriel to get Luka to tell him who is ladybug and chat noir by akumatising him or manipulating him
